Steam Winter Sale

Just when I thought steam sales couldn't get any worse. This is quite possibly the worst sale ever.
Bought only one game.

Yea... While I did pick up a couple games (finally got around to picking up Far Cry 4 and The Witcher 3) I found the sale to be super underwhelming overall. The prices we significantly higher without the Flash Sales in many cases.

My favorite purchases from the sale actually ended up being software, lol. I picked up:

DisplayFusion
It allows me to have; a Windows taskbar on both my monitors, a clock on both my monitors (without resorting to a widget which has vulnerabilities), and a different background on both my monitors. So far I LOVE it.

I also picked up Controller Companion so I can use my XBox 360 controller as a mouse on the rare occasion I use my TV as a monitor for gaming. It's pretty damn convenient.

Main purchase for me this year has been Warhammer Vermintide. Very fun game. I've put 25 hours into it so far. Its short overall but fun with friends and is ok when solo with bots. A left for dead game in a fantasy setting.

Thanks for pointing out the Controller Companion application. It's awesome!

well, I've got $73 worth sitting in the cart...what to do. I wish Shovel Knight wasn't $10.

Shovel Knight
Jet and Guns
Talos Principle
Metal Slug Triple Pack
Spelunky
Syder Arcade
Return to Castle Wolfenstein
Company of Heroes Complete
Witcher 2
Star Wars Empire at War Gold Pack
Gauntlet
Supreme Commander Gold
etc.

I will cover the next sale for sure I just felt there was nothing to cover with the daily deals, flash deals, and community choice all gone :/ Valve took the fun out of the sale :(
Great to hear you'll be back to run such a thread.

Yeah, sucks about Steam/Valve doing that this time around. Honestly I've been getting way more games via things like Humble Bundle or free Steam keys that are given out every so often on Slick Deals.

$0.00 .....was considering Squad after watching a few streams and thought it was $20 before checking, but I'm not paying $40 for something not finished.

Wow... shocked that Shovel Knight is $10. I can swear it's been down to about $6 before.

Talons Principle is worth having, a very unique and interesting experience. Witcher 2 is one of the best games I've played.

Picked up Gary's Mod that I swore I bought at one point and Witcher. Not much else that I don't own or care to purchase. Also gifted a couple copies of Shower with Dad Simulator to a few friends, as a nice christmas present.

hoo boy.

GTAV (crashes whenever I hit 'pause' so F that.)
Trials Fusion (who doesn't love this series?)
Metro Redux (2033 and LL)
Nidhog (oh my god this game is too damn fun)
Mount Your Friends (I bought 4 of them to gift to friends who require mounting!)
7 Days to Die (not on sale, but my mates started a server and so hey, why not...)
Cities: Skylines (played it for like 15 minutes and had to stop for adult duties...)
Ryse: Son Of Rome (Easily the winner in this line-up. great game with AMAZING visuals.)

This might be the first sale where I've purchased $0 in games. That's less because of the lack of deals or interesting games and more because I've had zero time for gaming between work and the holiday, paired with an already huge backlog.

I thought that clicking through my discovery queue to get the cards was going to be a huge grind, but I actually enjoyed it as I discovered many cool looking games that I wasn't even aware of. Added several of them to my wishlist in fact.

I just picked up:

Ryse : Son of Rome
Borderlands 2 : GOTY
Bastion
Transistor
Wolfenstein : The New Order

Total came to $32.30.

I had $40 in my Steam wallet from a Logitech G502 bundle I bought in the summer so I figured, why not?

Ryse is quite a fun game if you enjoy the 'beat-em-up' style gameplay. It reminds me of what a modern Double Dragon/ Ninja Turtles Beat'em up should be like.

Ryse has some gpu usage issues for most Maxwell users.

Here is the crazy fix if you encounter it. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=S9SH6rL6NSE

Got GTA V in the autumn sale for $36 (or whatever it was) played that until a couple weeks ago, then got Wolfenstein: TNO, which so far left me a little lackluster but it was much cheaper and just came off a much higher image quality "open world" type of game so yeah of course I was bound to be a little disappointed, I will say though my desire to go back and beat it is much lower than GTA V. I will play it when I have the time but not all the time.
