Hey guys. My RMBPro wont boot. I hear the chime for it turning on and nothing happens. The screen "slightly" turns on, grey/green/blackish background. I have an appt. at the Apple store but thought I would see what the experts here think.
Thanks.

Probably a silly question, but did you try attaching it to an external monitor to check if it is in fact not booting vs a damaged screen? I notice you mentioned it chimes when powered on. Do you hear any other noises or indications of function (e.g. keyboard backlight turning on, fans kicking on, sounds if you press a key/volume, etc).

I did a quick google search and found this forum entry, which appears to have some of the issues that you have already mentioned.

Edit: What year is your rMBP? Might want to have a look at this. I guess MBP's between 2011 and 2013 have had known gpu issues to the point that wty coverage has been extended for that specific problem. Best of luck!

2014 model. Not that old in really great shape...only really used for browsing and Civ 5 sessions.
No other noises.
It really sucks as my new iPad pro wont even turn on..also a known problem.

You can try PRAM and SMC resets, but this issue sounds a little more extreme. On older MBPs it indicated a failing GPU.

Reset your NVRAM (sometimes still called PRAM), the website says to hold the keys until you hear the boot chime twice, I reccommend at least 3 times, I have had a few weird start up issues that are not resolved unless I heard the chime 5-7 times.
