It is New Year's Eve, the last day of the year and, since not much will be happening in the world of tech news, why don't we all make a New Year's resolution. Because we are all in different time zones, some of you will be celebrating sooner than others tonight and you might end up too drunk to make a resolution. So, to avoid missing the opportunity to make one of the biggest commitments of the year (that will be broken soon afterwards), let's all take a minute now to share our resolutions.

To complete at least one video game a month. Need to clean out my backlog.

I'm going to repeat my resolution for 2015: I resolve to not make any New Year's resolutions. :)

Oh Steve, I thought you were a 3600 (or 6000) x 1920 guy.

Create a nice storage and display area for my video game collection.
and
Rebuild my PC with a new case and a minimal workstation. Nice clean desk, PC case hidden, everything nice and clean.

Although 6'-1" and 180lbs I'm not too out of shape, I plan to exercise more in 2016.

Other than that, build a back porch.

2 chicks at the same time.

+1

Yes, literally - a ménage à quatre. :p

My resolutions this year are to:
  1. Formally dedicate some time to my backlog of hobbies/DIY projects
  2. Take a sabbatical and go somewhere far away from the office.

3 "easy" resolutions:
  1. Get through that bloody backlog like everyone else
  2. Start and finish my next case mod (already have summer days off scheduled for the painting. Progress!)
  3. Build a quiet 6700k HTPC/DC upgrade, but only if the supply stabilizes and the prices lower.

1. To learn C++ ( I was always drawn into programming)
2. To get back into digital art as in drawing sculpting, modeling etc....(love it but I'm horrible at it.)
3. To lose weight.
4. to significantly cut down on the amount of porn I watch. ( :( )

I'll be happy with just 1 of 4 these acheived.

Not a lot of point in making a resolution.
Just do what needs doing when it needs doing.

Although I'll make a wish for a water bed and 3 chicks :p

1. Buy my second home
2. Get a new GPU
3. Get better at painting

Classic one, but... Quit smoking, again.. Err try again. I'll probably wait until spring though so I can keep busy outside. Cravings are always so much harder being stuck in the house with a ton of snow outside.

TT Core X9.
Hydrostream. (Vision or Vector, as long as its just slightly faster than my cousin's.)
Better paying job.

(not necessarily in that order.)

2560x1440
No, really. I'm eyeing the Acer XB271HU. Unless something better show up when I'm prepared to make the purchase.

Other than that, I hope I'll do well enough to earn a pay raise.

Twiddle my thumbs while Western civilization dies. As much by it's own hands, as outside forces. Need to use those wonderfully opposing thumbs for something.

Wouldn't mind putting together a decent monster (but small in terms of physical size) desktop again this year - Happy New Year, btw - but I suppose I'll stick with my path of using laptops for the past decade or so. I know Intel is finally bringing the Xeon to mobiles so if Dell drops one in a Precision laptop that isn't too freakin' hideous in terms of form factor and not so large that it's just a beast machine like the old 17" Precision models were I'll have to consider an upgrade.

Aside from that the goal is the same as it's been for over a decade now: keep the wife happy and healthy, can't really ask for much more than that I suppose.

Best wishes to everyone for 2016.

Tech related:

  1. Sell off all of my unused parts.
Non-tech related:

  1. Find out what's causing my IBS. Seriously. Over 8 years of this shit and I'm getting worse and worse.

5760x1200 here...

and lose some weight...

and clear my massive backlog of projects!
