Be very wary of ordering from Jet.com

They are rife with errors in pricing, mislabeling items, and all sorts of other shenanigans and unlike a decent store who will at least lie to you and tell you that the item is no longer available, or do the right thing and say there is a pricing error, they'll actually ship you the wrong item, and then make you go through the song and dance of getting a refund.

Ordered a GTX 970 that was listed at $250ish, which is a really good price but not an obvious pricing error since NewEgg was selling one or two models in the $260 range (after MIR), but with the 20NOW coupon it did become a great price. But they sent me a 960 instead, and to rub salt in the wound, it's actually cheaper (no MIR) at newegg than the price I paid with the 20NOW coupon code.

The real kick in the nuts for me was this was a cyber monday purchase so me assuming I got a good deal on something I left it at that, and didn't look at another video card after all was said and done. So missed that boat as well. Tried to get them to give me a little restitution, but that struck out twice and after my 3rd email back to them they got tired of me telling them off and just emailed me back a return address form to print out.

Now here's the real schwarmy thing, they said there was a pricing error and removed the listing and my order history still shows the part number in question as a 970, but when I click on it the page it goes to has the name of a 960, the part number of a 960 and the description of a 960, except for a few things the pictures are of the 970 and the "additional features" are of a 970, 4G ram, 1664 cuda cores, even though it's listed as no longer available there was some effort to change the listing (even if it was an automated thing).

So my recommendation, don't ever shop at Jet.com even with a $50 rebate on items you're going to end up paying more than elsewhere, and there's probably a "listing error" for an inferior product, you want a 980? it's probably a 970, you want a 970 it's probably a 960, you want a 960 (for some reason) it's probably a 950.

Seriously fuck those clowns

Ok, minor update they still aren't going to give me what I want, but they decided to credit my account for the 20NOW coupon, and unlike 20% or $50 which ever is higher, I can use the credit towards any purchase. So if I buy a $50 item it's essentially free.

The Hot Deal with this elluded to the fact that it may have been a 960 so I steered clear of that mess. Sucks that you got screwed.

scammy, will avoid

thousands of people ordered from Jet.com when it first started, hundreds of people bought the really inexpensive 970 video card from Jet.com with the promo codes for new customers, even more people bought from Jet.com by creating fake accounts in order to obtain new promo codes. With all that being said, if Jet.com is purposely being shady, don't you think you'd see WAY more threads popping up? Mistakes happen, amazon has them, newegg has them, seems like there is more to this story than has been told.

slickdeals is riddled with their deals but ive always been hesitant to try them. i guess ill continue to ride it out and watch from the sidelines.

I ordered a Zotac AMP Extreme from them for 600$. I received what I ordered fairly promptly. Then I decided to return it because it had fan rattle. The return went easily. I mean mistakes happen yeah. I'm fine with my experience. I just regret returning that card at this point because it was a pretty good overclocker. Maybe I could have just done something about the fan rattle.

Ah, regrets...

These are pretty much my thoughts. When they get established a bit, I will consider them....

That was a different card, and that's because the description/picture was that of 960 even though the title said 970, this had the description, picture everything of a 970. The only thing that may have been suspect is the price, but again, and now I know that they don't really sell anything that's cheaper than anywhere else,

Yeah this is true, it's also true that the "inexpensive price" $289 before discounts, is actually a price that was offered elsewhere during BF/CM, and they VERY quickly raised the price to $400+ with a "discount" that put it in the mid $300s, so that if you applied a discount of $50 off it's still more expensive than other places.

I'm full well know this is probably a mistake, their whole business model seems to be automated pricing of items based on what other retailers are selling things for, and they get a little off the top, meaning you'll never get the best price there. Also if a pricing error goes up on another site, that will be reflected through them, and being as certain items (video cards for instance) there's a often a smallish window between different tiers ($60-100 between a 960 and 970 for instance depending upon brand/brand i.e. 960 FTW vs standard 970) it can look like a good deal on their site (especially when they raise the price a bit to get their cut) and less like an obvious pricing error.

Now I don't know if an individual is copying/pasting descriptions though, but the fact the description/title changed partially for the item I had but not completely, i.e. the actual specs of the card, it does kind of speak of some sort of cover up.

But then that means you'll be buying something from them! OH so confusing :)

Well I managed to buy an EVGA Supernova GS PSU, for $25 because I could apply the full value of the 20NOW coupon, $50, , so as long as the correct wattage shows up... and model... I'll be content with what I have and be done with them, and I doubt they'll actually be making any more on this transaction.

I was tempted to order another video card from them and with the discount it would be a tad (like literally a few bucks) less than the same card on NewEgg + tax and I won't have to wait for a MIR mostly because they don't charge sales tax even, but nah, screw them, they're going to take a hit on this one, not just get my money.

The whole point of Jet.com is in their terms of service. I pointed it out on another forum when Jet.com first opened, guess I may as well point it out here (I'll cut'n'paste right from what I posted elsewhere):

Read Jet's terms of service. Biggest scam their is.

A couple majorly important points:

IMPORTANT: BY USING THE JET SITES, YOU AGREE TO RESOLVE ALL DISPUTES WITH JET THROUGH BINDING ARBITRATION, NOT IN COURT, AND YOU WAIVE CERTAIN RIGHTS TO PARTICIPATE IN CLASS ACTIONS. THE EXCEPTIONS AND WAVIERS ARE DETAILED IN SECTIONS 14 AND 15.

Binding arbitration is par for the course, but waiving your right to class actions is fairly new.

[iExcerpt Section 3: For example, product information contained on the Jet Sites may differ from information contained on the actual product materials. Before you act on information you have found on the Jet Sites, you must independently confirm any facts that are important to your decision. If you purchase a product that is not as described, your sole remedy is to return it and/or request a refund in accordance with our Returns/Refund policy.

So what they're saying is that they're banking on you waiving the return protection and will likely be hiding behind mountains of "misstated items".

Next (one of my favorites):

You agree not to do any of the following:

(snip)

- Because we are a membership site, use the Jet Sites to purchase anything for resale, rental, or shipment to or on behalf of customers, or for other commercial purposes

Wait, they can limit First Sale Doctrine? That's new.

This company is a joke. They're not selling anything - they're a data mining company dressed up as a club warehouse store with affiliates. Once again, you are the product.

----

That right there... they're basically trying to indemnify themselves against pricing errors AND screw you over in the process. I don't know if their Terms of Service has changed at all since July when this was originally posted, but their company was scammy enough back then that I didn't bother to keep up.

could you elabroate on the deal? i saw something for like $75 and it said :login for more pricing details."

im tempted to order from them with my amex card for extra security.

The only issue I had with them is when I got charged tax. I swear the entire way through checkout it said there wouldn't be tax. Then when I paid tax showed up on the order after I had already submitted the order. It wasn't a huge deal as I got the hard drives still a few dollars cheaper than the best black friday price. I'm not sure if it was some bug as I created an account at the same time and that's why it didn't show but I probably won't be ordering from them again as I don't pay tax at amazon.

I just ordered an Asus Strix GTX 970 from them. $344 - $50 (20NOW coupon) - $7something by waiving free returns - 1.5% by using a debit card = $282 out the door, no tax to CA, free shipping.

Got a tracking number today. Fingers crossed that I actually get what I ordered :)

I'd rather avoid the hassle of spending more in shipping an item back than I could possibly save.
I'm shocked people are still ordering, its like this thread has become an advert!

Amazon.com , Best ever. Always great costumer service . They even refund my shipping if the order get's delayed which happens but it's nice not to get screwed.
Not saying Amazon doesn't have it's own problems and accidents like receiving a 1tb hdd when i ordered a 3tb HDD , But they fixed the problem fast . Within a 2 days the problem was fixed.
Also cool sometimes if you ask the costumer service agents for a Amazon shirt they "sometimes" will give you one.I sometimes use Ebay.
Never heard of jet.com even on TV , Which i hardly watch anyways. I just record shows go to work come home skip commercials.
But checking out all those terms , I am certain i prolly will never use Jet.com

First of all, companies have been limiting class action suits for a while now but why would you be concerned whether you could participate in a class action suit against an e-tailer

All the second portion states is that your only remedy in a mis-stated product is to return it for a refund. You can't, for example, argue that you are entitled to some other product or a partial refund as compensation for the order that wasn't accurate.

The third point is completely irrelevant. First sale doctrine doesn't govern commercial activity in the way you tried to apply it. There's nothing in the first sale doctrine that implies it protects the rights of someone buying hardware from a vendor and reselling it to their own customers.

Update: my order came today and I got exactly what I ordered. I'm really impressed with how fast it came, too; I placed the order on Saturday night around 11pm and was told it would be delivered in 3-7 days, and it came in this afternoon (Monday).

I must be one of the lucky ones, but given all the horror stories I've heard, this will probably be the first and last time I order with them. I've already used the 20NOW/$50 off coupon anyway, so now I really have no reason to order from them instead of Amazon or Newegg, other than sales tax (which I will gladly pay for peace of mind and excellent customer service).

I ordered a 970 through Jet - only because of the $50 off coupon. My experience was OK - got what I ordered, no problems, etc. I won't be using them again though.

I'd rather avoid the hassle of spending more in shipping an item back than I could possibly save.

When I returned my 980 Ti, I didn't have to pay shipping costs. They just printed a label for me. I at first thought I would have to pay for it, but turns out I guess it was prepaid. The overall return went pretty smooth... although I didn't like how they chose Fedex, because it's much farther than the nearest UPS. Still, everything went smoothly.

I dunno what kind of horror stories other people are having.

I would probably order from them again if they had anything that tickled my fancy, but they don't carry any high end audiophile gear, which is the only thing I'm somewhat interested in collecting at this point. For any computer upgrades, I generally go to Microcenter because it's just so much faster and easier to have everything at your fingertips instantly. Plus returns are so painless, and their customer service is lenient. I got my current 980 Ti through them at an even lower price than Jet had, though it's kind of a mediocre card (running ~1450-ish atm, with stock volts and whatnot).

Well to recap, during the BF/CM I was looking for the ultimate in prices, a NewEgg sale type of price on a 970 but then one I could instantly slap a $50 discount on. Unfortunately I got the price, but it was a "misprint" and they sent me a 960. Now part of the issue here is there apparently is no communication between Jet and this other seller, I'm not sure if Jet is simply a market place akin to Amazon so they get a slice of the pie each transaction, but regardless the invoice said 970 and a 960 came, not one bit too happy that in no time during packing did anyone actually double check a description of what was ordered versus what is sent.

So back and forth bitch festing going on, and it really is sad that it comes down to this, that you have to be the most upset cranky bastard ever, before someone tries to make it right, but they did give me the $50 discount as a credit, which is different because it's not 20% off the price up to $50, it was simply $50. So I ordered a EVGA GS 550 psu for $75, ended up costing $25, and I was done with jet.com

Bottom line is for PC goods at least, they do not seem to have any good deals unless you use that 20NOW coupon, and even if you do, they more likely than not will still be more expensive than NewEgg. Upside no sales tax, downside if you do find a good deal it might just be too good to be true, and they will not honor any pricing.

Did they give you the $50 to shut you up but you had to keep the 960?
Or did they take the card back, refund as well and then give you $50?
I am not seeing where you came out ok in all of this.

I bought a $17 Logitech mouse pad from Jet just to test their service. Everything went well and I thought about buying a Samsung S2 tablet from them. With a coupon code, I got the price down to $285 shipped. Your post gave me pause. I bought my S2 from a highly-rated eBay vendor, instead. Price was $319, but it was delivered in 3 days, brand new and sealed. I'm done with Jet.

No they took the 960 back. Only thing is it takes a while to process a return, it was shipped cross country (apparently by pack mule by the time it took to get there), and there's 4-10 days to process returns.

I will say returning things was quite easy, print out label, tape it to box, drop it off at FedEx outlet. I did not opt. to "save" a few bucks by waiving free return.

I actually did opt out of the free return thing. As long as the reason was the product was defective or something of the sort, ticking or not ticking that box doesn't seem to affect the return process. At least it didn't for my 980 Ti.

I got a cheap zotac 970gtx from them for $229 shipped. I had a good experience, but ultimately I think they are full of crap. They try to make claims how good their prices are , but even with a 20% off first time purchase coupon i had sift through A LOT of things to find a good deal. The Zotac 970 was the only card i could find on their site that had the same price as amazon/newegg/tiger so when you put a 20% off coupon on that, its pretty good.

Ill keep an eye on them, but i dont think their prices are anything to brag about.

I had a great experience on Jet.com for a Michael Kors watch for my wife's birthday. Arrived within a few days, 100% authentic (compared against one bought from Amazon) but $50 cheaper than the cheapest price on Amazon. Very happy with the transaction but I am sure there are going to be some mistakes and errors along the way since Jet.com is basically a retail broker service for other retailers.

wow this company sucks.

so i ordered a power supply from there with some promo codes and during the shipping part, i entered my college address. notice, this part only shows the street and zip code, no city or state so i confirmed it because it looked correct. my shipping and billing address its very similar:
Redlands, CA 92373 vs Redding, CA 96002

i just got a notice saying that my package is on its way out and itll be delivered tomorrow. then i noticed the address is redding, ca and not redLANDS,ca, what it should be. for some stupid reason their system mixed and matched my billing address with my shipping address. suffice to say, this is 600 miles apart with an address that doesnt exist. in an attempt to salvage the situation i called jet.com to fix it, but i was told they cant do jack since the item has been shipped, and they told me to call the shipping company to fix it.

so i called the shipping company and they told me they cant do anything either, even though the address is invalid. only the company can alter it because its restricted. hopefully the driver will attempt to make the delivery to the wrong address that doesnt exist and ship it back to sender. however, i googled the imaginary address and there is something that resembles it so i ask what if the driver leaves it because people do that all the time and what if he wasnt paying attention. fedex says "youre out of the luck then. call the jet.com."

so i call jet.com and get a different person and although she was sympathethic, there wasnt anything she could do. per her, there are strict company polices that prevent them from touching anything after the 30 min window. even if i provide her all the info to contact shipping company. then i ask her what if the driver doesnt pay attention and delivers it to the make believe address and someone accepts the package. then i will still be liable because the package was delivered.... to an address that doesnt exist!!!

tomorrow imma try calling the local shipping office and see if they can return the product to sender and not deliver it so that way i dont get charged for an item i didnt receive that was delivered to an address that doesnt exist thanks to their auto complete mix and match address system that doesnt verify with another system to see if that address even exists..

That sounds like the exact same deal I went for, except in my case they sent me the Zotac 960, and then did a switcheroo and claim that it was a misprint

Yep, they blow.

Never ordering from them again after the issues i've had on the 2 orders... (I NEVER got)

I've ordered from them so I guess I'll share my experience. Last week they had an American made Fender limited edition standard Strat for lower than anywhere else. It was listed at a few places on sale for $999, which was less than MSRP. Jet had it listed for $600. To me this seemed cheap enough to be a good sale but not so crazy that it was 100% a price mistake (after all, you regularly see the deluxe versions on sale from 2k down to 1k). Anyway, I ordered and crossed my fingers.

Shipping was quick and I got the guitar a few days after ordering. The wrong guitar was sent. I called Jet and the first person I spoke to apologized and said that they would email me a shipping label and have FedEx come pick it up and they would issue a full refund. But, they could no longer offer the guitar at that price as it was never actually available from the merchant.

I hung up and was going to let it rest, but decided I would email and let them know they should work on their customer service as the lady on the phone was a tad rude. I got an email back within 10 minutes apologizing and this person said they would look into the entire order.

Long story short (too late, I know) Jet ended up doing a special order for the guitar (at this point it is $1299 everywhere online). They paid for overnight shipping and ended up charging me a new total of $519. The person I ended up dealing with was very nice, stated multiple times that they are really trying to amp up their customer service and they appreciate customers giving them the chance to correct any mistakes. They really went out of their way to make this right for me, I'll give them another shot.

I ordered from www.jet.com last night and used their ANDROID20 code for $50 off a pair of Sennheiser RS 185 RF headphones. Shipped is just under $250. Amazon is $299 + tax or I could gamble with one of their 1 star resellers and get it for around $270-300 shipped.

Right after my order I got a notification that the order would be fulfilled by Quality photo. This morning I got a tracking number that the package is transit and should arrive on the 29th.

Estimate was 5-7 days. For Quality photo being on the east coast and me on the west, I'm fine with the speed.

So far no issues at all. $50 is $50.

People are just scared about Jet.com thinking its some overseas Chinese data mining firm. Spend 5 seconds checking them out in Google News and you'll know they are legit.

My issues with them have nothing to do with them mining data (and I've never heard anyone list that as a concern). My biggest issue is that there is zero confidence the item will come from an authorized reseller of the product. No authorized reseller, no warranty :(

"Quality Photo" isn't an authorized dealer for those headphones you bought. That opens you up for possible warranty issues or grey market fakes.

http://en-us.sennheiser.com/authorized-dealers

And at this point you should note that Quality Photo is HQed in Brooklyn which is the epicenter of grey market tech gear. So is $50 worth the risk? Not everyone wants to save $50 against a potential $250 loss. And you can only use that $50 once, so Jet is going to have issues retaining customers when their technology products are listed at anything close to normal retail prices.

Thanks for the good feedback. This may be enough for me to consider returning the headphones.

How does this work on Amazon when a dealer uses a Amazon fulfillment center. Does the device register as Amazon or is it registered to the dealer? I couldn't imagine Amazon keeping track of whose headphones is whose. It would seem like a logistical nightmare. It would make more sense if they just blindly took a headphone out of the bin and shipped it out. Or maybe regardless of the origin, once it his a fulfillment center the device is registered under Amazon?
