GOG - Quake $2.49 - Quake II $2.49 - Quake III $4.99

Humm I was just wondering about this game last week (I never played it). Do these versions have the original Soundtrack? I read something about the Nine Inch Nails music being stripped

It's 1.1GB, so I'd assume so.

Lol, 2.50 for quake original....paying for that nostalgia.

Shit was mad fun though. So many different mods for the game

These games always make me sad about the current state of PC gaming. The mod community for these games was huge and it takes me back to the days where developers supported players getting the most out of their purchase. Now everything is DLC, costs money, and good mods get shut down fast. I spent hours and hours playing different mods for these old school games! Action quake, navy seals, not to mention the hundreds of maps that we're all free!

I bit, been wanting to replay Quake II for a while now.

I remember, back in high school, when someone snuck quake 3 arena into the files stored on the server so we could all play it in the library via lan. Good times

I got something like this last year. Really wanted to get back into Quake 2 but its resolution support is seriously lacking...

Thought this would be an appropriate thread with Kyle's recent Quake revisited article.

Quake

Quake II

Quake III

Sweet ass post Deja! I am going to look into Q2 mods after this.

Just a nostalgia moment that I remember like yesterday.....I remember the exact place and direction I was facing in Quake 2 the first time I saw 1024x768 resolution in a game. Wow..

That was with Canopus Voodoo II 6MB cards in SLI....cost me two months rent. It was glorious.

Around 1997-1998 we all bought copies in the computer science club (gotta be legal right)

and played after school with our awesome computer science teacher. Of course we had a dickhole of a system admin who had the balls to say "we were sucking down system resources" and stopped us from playing it.

Good job, instead of keeping kids in school and off the streets causing trouble, fuck it, kick them out and let them run free.

It was a shitty novell based network - we could map and hack into anything we wanted. We uploaded a bunch of porn to the admins directory and I'm pretty sure he got fired. Good times.

Bought both I and II, I've been wanting to pick these up for a while now. I've had it on my wishlist for some time on Steam and just realized when I saw GOG's version they come with all the mission packs which the Steam version doesn't, so even at full price the GOG version is a much better deal. At 75% off this is a no brainer.

Yall are really going to make me reinstall quake 1.. I used to play all the time. On my 26.4k connection (my local phone company sucked). Anything under a 300 ping and I was good to go though.
Quake 2 started to get out of hand b/c my slow connection just didn't cut it. Used to play capture the flag a lot when I did try and play.

I agree with the above tho, I got spoiled on quake, then half life2... I can't seem to enjoy other first person DM shooters anymore b/c I'm looking for that quake 1 experience again

Q2 was what introduced me to FPS games. Damn the mod community was HUGE.

I may have to fire it back up.

I know right! Do you know when was the last time I played a game where all the mobs were naked ladies and the wall texture was tiled naked ladies??!?!

Quake was first game I played with +mlook, before it was keyboard to look around.

Can anyone confirm soundtrack is present?

Quake 1 has been on my hard drive ever since I got my first 3D card, the Voodoo Banshee, in 1998.

If we get started playing Q2, consider me in.

Edge rail arenas on MSN Gaming Zone. I still remember them 16 years later. One of the few FPSs I was ever considered good at.

Any reason to buy these if you already still own the oldschool physical copies of all these games?

So if the full version of Quake I with soundtrack is bought off GOG and then put on Steam does Steam strip soundtrack like the Steam version of Quake they sell?

That's what mods are for. Did you look at the link in the first article? I'm playing Quake (I) at 1920x1200. It's good damn good looking.

I bit and got all three, fuck I loved q2 and q3.. rail gun only servers were my favorite in quake II, servers like that still around?

q3 arena got me into a lot of trouble! my parents would wake up at 415 in the morning to get ready for work and I'd still be on the family computer running up the phone bill playing quake all night. Best times of my life! This was also back in my AOL progz days hahaha!

Quake for me was the high point of PC gaming... Got me into so many things.. Overclocking my celeron 300a to 450... Had a Canopus pure3d as well for OpenGL/GLquake. Went to a bunch of gaming and hardware websites during those days... Stomping grounds, voodoo extreme, sharky extreme, thresh' firing squad... And of course HardOCP. Many of those sites sold out and are completely lame these days, but The [H] stood the test of time.

Loved q2 ctf.. In particular threewave ctf.. Rail wars on Bletey's Blues was the shiznits! Making the transition from an hpb to an lpb and just pwning! Played on 33.6k 56k, isdn, adsl, cable, and even from the Cisco offices which were connected via oc48 at the time... Lol. Then q3 came out.. Killed off q2, but I eventually learned to love rocket arena 3... Even to this day, i still remember the techno soundtrack playing... Good stuff.

Didn't they also make a quake 4, but it was poop?

If you buy Quake I from GOG, they are throwing in The Elder Scrolls Arena and Daggerfall as well.
