...but this is a complete customer service failure on many levels.
Customer service didn't fail anything. He didn't even call them, he just went with the nuclear option and did a chargeback.
Also a customer service line recording calls for "quality assurance" does not necessarily grant the right for the other caller to record the call as well. When I worked doing Dell customer service escalations, any customer who said they were recording the call got transferred to the legal department It was a total dick move, however it was the policy at the time.
