Fallout 4

I've only worn power armor for a total of about 30 seconds even though I have something like 40 Fusion Cores. I think I'm just paranoid about over-using anything that is finite.

Same problem here. If there was a way to recharge the cores somehow (even if it was expensive and/or took awhile) I might actually use it.

Also, technically they are not finite since you can buy them from vendors fairly regularly. But I think you could eventually run out at a pace faster than you can buy them.

Mod your way around the problem. There are several that greatly reduce and/or eliminate fusion core drain.

Yeah I hate that they are fininite in thiat sense.

I think there should have been a perk (make it the last perk in str tree or something) that allowed you to re-charge cores, thus being able to sustain power armor usage without having to constantly find cores or buy new ones and putting them in.

I always do that in most games where there's a finite thing, I keep the mindset of "I need to save this..." and by the time late game rolls around I haive a huge stockpile and hardly ever used them in tihe first place.

Man...We are of the same mind set..I bet we all have OCD tendencies...hehe

I read that if you use the cores all the way down to 1%, you can still sell them for maximum value. I am loving the game so far... I'm like 10 hours in an only level 8. I just love exploring around with dog meat. He is my favorite character.

I thought I would love codsworth but I find dog meat more fun. I also, seem to horde my perk points. I don't want to waste and pick something stupid so I have like 4 unused right now. I think I will just add a little bit to all and be a jack of all trades as I enjoy melee, and guns as well as hacking, crafting, sciencing, sniping....shiiit....

Incidentally, anyone notice some graphical glitches with white flashing boxes when you look out on the horizon? I have a few texture mods, and my game is all maxed out, but I noticed this glitch even when I first started the game. 980 Ti's overclocked or not, I still get the white squares.

they should have just made the game have LESS cores but have the option to recharge them over some amount of time.

You have a lot of work the silver shroud is fun.
That recon one is what gets you in the brotherhood the guy at the end of that quest has a unique laser if you pick pocket him or kill him.

I can't progress any more with either quest..

I am up to the point where I'm supposed to talk to Hancock as the SS...won't let me...as he wants to be a follower already..with no other dialog options..

Yes the Silver Shroud one is a blast...especially talking in that voice as a girl...heh.

The Paladin one I already joined them...I can't talk to Paladin Danse without him wanting to join me...no other dialog to finish the quest...

How is that even possible? 351 hours is 14-5/8 FULL days. Even if you activated the game on the morning of 11/9, it's only been 30 days since then. That would mean you've spent nearly 50% of the available time playing. Like nearly 12 hours a day since launch.
This.

Curse you and your math skilz!

...perhaps he's a Time Lord?

let them join you and the dialogue options should continue. the joining does not do anything gamewise

I barely used the PA until I was level 30 or 35 or so, so I had 40+ cores saved up, but it seems like as soon as caps are no longer a real issue, fusion cores are no longer an issue. There are quite a few vendors that sell them, including the vendors you can build in settlements.

I was the same way...saved them until 35'ish. Lots of good tips earlier in this thread for making the caps you need to buy them as well...although I haven't purchased any yet....and have quite a few (lol at work and forgot to finish this sentence..).

Hi, some weeks ago I downloaded the beta patch for Fallout 4.
Now I would like to stop using the beta version and get the stable one.
In my settings the BETA tab is vanished, how can I disable the beta version?

to this question I add, what is the average level people finish this game if you do all subquest and main quest?

Ha, didn't think of that. Had to fire up a video of the quest walkthrough as a female and hear for myself. Pretty hilarious.

I had that issue. What I did to fix it was talk to him, get him to be my follower, and then do the "Talk" action on him as my follower and it triggered the end of the Silver Shroud quest. No idea why you have to do it this way but it worked for me. Then you can dismiss him for whoever you want.

You might have to do something similar with Paladin Danse.

I was level 49-50. I didn't do every sidequest, especially not the Radiant quest nonsense (there is already enough content here even if they eliminated 80% of radiant quests

I did every quest in the game, built-up all the settlements, and explored every location. I finished around 120 hours, level 90.
It will be different for everyone based on Intelligence and Idiot Savant.

Lame, they patched the money glitch in this game for us console users. Wtf????

That was the only extra cool thing we could do.

Just build some water purifiers. I have around 12k caps, and that's after buying the 16k cap overseer's arm. Seriously, I get around 250 purified water after every one or two quests in my two water producing areas. Caps shouldn't be an issue in this game.

Neither the money or the material was the best thing about the glitch. It was the ammo from vendors that made the glitch so good.

I'll try that tip of yours, thanks.

I've been using a power armor since the very beginning of the game, when you find one on the roof of the library in the very first quest. I've been out of it only during workshopping and some conversations. I've never purchased a single fusion core, and at level 45 I have 30. Above a certain level a lot can be found in loot, sometimes 3-4 at a time. But even before that every factory, or larger commercial building will have a generator running with a fusion core.

How does that work exactly? I have had two water purifiers working for ages, and I don't remember getting any purified water for any quest.

Did you pick up the Scrounger perk?

Just wondering how large of an impact the perk is.

It is pretty big you get a lot more from guns plastic and optics you get from lasers nuclear material in glow sites gets recovered then if you mark things an ar highlight is on anything you salvage to get that material if a container has it inside the whole thing is highlighted.

Was this a random word generator account hijack?

I only picked it up around level 30 if I remember correctly. And not because I was running low on cores, but because I had a hard time finding crafting materials.

I've never had a shortage of fusion cores.

Yeah, I feel the same way. My guy is a sniper and it doesn't make sense to play a sniper in a power suit. Doesn't look or act stealthy to me. But that's just my way of thinking. I plan to make a warrior/tank type build and power suits would be good in that play style I'm thinking.

So apparently the performance improvements to the Corvega Assembly Plant were meant for the console versions, and were snuck into the PC version. It seems the console versions were frequently running below 20 FPS in this area, and to increase performance they completely removed shadows inside the building... I'll need to go back and check it out myself. The first time I was there prior to the beta patch I never noticed any performance issues.

It's a solid plan, especially considering you only need a Str of 4 to qualify for all of the weapon and armor upgrade perks. Then you just rely on the power armor for the strength boost for melee damage.

I've had no performance issues there either. The only time when fps dips to the uncomfortable are very high rooftops where I can see the entire city.

I've just realized that, the chainsaw thingie makes every other melee weapon worthless junk. It can cut anything in seconds. Of course I have STR10 and Power armor.

Does it only bother me that you only need 1 STR to increase hand to hand damage and 2 STR to increase melee damage but you need 3 and 4 STR to mod armour and melee weapons?

I might have to try the water purifier thing. I haven't really needed money for anything (I have around 10K) but most of the appealing items I do encounter are extremely expensive.

Performance wise, I see the biggest hits in the middle of town. The areas around the Combat Zone and start of the Freedom Trail drop into the 40's for me. There are a few other choke points when I'm on top of large buildings, but they only bog down when the weather effects kick in.

It coincides with similar levels of Agi and Per (1-2) to increase gun damage and Int (3) to mod guns. Plus, it's got the advantage of being covered in one stat.

So far I haven't really encountered THAT much worth of expensive starred items that are really worth buying. There were a couple of pretty great armor items in Goodneighbor that I bought, but now I'm using PA pretty much exclusively, so they don't really matter.

The two mini nuke fatman (Big Boy) is one. Overseer's Guardian another. The gauss gun from The Castle chick probably another.

But eventually I plan on buying every starred piece of armor or weapon that there is, because reasons.

I'd say the biggest expense anyone is likely to run into is setting up a full load of Tier 3 shops. I set up all six at The Castle, and Armor/Weapons/General at Sanctuary and the Drive In. I think that cost me somewhere in the neighborhood of 20,000 caps, which is nearly all I have at level 44, despite having 12 CHA, using a lot of grape mentats, and looting and selling practically every single item I come across.

And the reason to do that isn't even to make more (essentially unneeded) money, it's to get access to the Tier 4 shop runners to get their special items, plus maybe to have easy access to a massive source of ammo and fusion cores and caps for selling garbage. Pretty good source of junk items, also.

I haven't gotten any of the T4 guys yet, planning on doing that tonight. Not even sure what they'll have, could all be crap I don't even care about.

Here's a question though: Do armor boosts like +SPECIAL or special abilties (15% less damage from humans/robots/whatever) still apply if you wear armor within the power armor? Because if so then it seems worth it to have decent armor even if you do use power armor.

Or, does it just completely negate all of your armor skills?

I do notice that once you hop in the power armor, your Deep Pocketed armor doesn't seem to apply anymore so I wonder what applies (if anything) and what doesn't.

If you have the Science 4 perk, you can mod your Power Suit torso to auto-cloak when you crouch. It's pretty awesome for stealth players.
