How many old farts here stil play pc games?

I'm 51 and still playing. My Dad passed in 1998. I can only imagine if he was still around what kind of games I would have him hooked on! lol

I am 34. The first game I remember seeing was Elite on zx spectrum. It is funny how I can recall watching my father and uncle play and even though I do remember how the game looked and I do remember how excited they were to actually pilot a space ship (just a single digit number of lines of course, but still back then...) I can't recall how they looked. Isn't it funny that a game screen was more powerful than a memory of their faces....

I am still playing games whenever I can. I read about them, I write about them, I even try to make my own games now. One thing I always think about sometimes and makes me very sad, when I game, is how incredibly advanced video games look and sound today. My uncle drowned in a relatively young age and one of the memories of him that trully stayed with me was playing Lotus Turbo Esprit 2 on an amiga 500 saying "wow, that looks just like a real car".

I wish he could see the graphics today. And fck sorry I ranted far too long far too off topic.

I am 70 and since I retired several years ago my gaming time increased significantly. However, I have been going through a "burnout" phase lately. Some of this is related to to much mouse time and the rest is the games themselves.

40 years old.
Started on the Commodore 64.

Still playing every day.

Just turned 40 last month, and still game exclusively on PC.

Currently playing FO4 (primary) and FC4 (again).
Just finished BM:AK a while back.
Occasionally fire up XCOM EU/Bureau, Splinter Cell: Chaos Theory, Sonic/All-stars Racing Transformed, Pirates!, COD4: MW, Re-Volt, and some others.

Nice...70. what is the issue with the mouse? Too much wrist action causing pain? I still play with a mouse also. In fact, my keyboard is so worn out on the letters: S (forward), A (left), D (right), Left Shift (back), are shown anymore on the keyboard. A long time a go, I used to use the arrow keys, but switched to using these letters, because they are the "home" position on the keyboard when typing..

Mouse time as in gaming to much. Not any affliction.

When I was younger, my dad was diagnosed with "tennis elbow." However, he knew the truth, so he said he had "Ninetendo elbow."

46 here and still play...although not as much as I used to. I loved Quakeworld back in the 90's but sadly bifocals and just slower reflexes take the enjoyment out of FPS games.

As for the PC, I'm in the Camelot Unchained alpha/beta (DAoC) was my favorite MMO and I recently played the hell out of ESO on the PC and Xbox One. Currently trying to finish Dragon Age Inquisition on the XBox.

One of the greatest days I've had recently was having my 10 year old beat the shit out of me on FIFA 16. It wasn't that long ago that I let him win....now...I get massacred.

46 yrs old, and I game with my son, his friends and mine. I will not play games that require me to level up, waste of time game, is what I call them. I started with the original command and conquer, i still play forged alliance. been playing counter strike when im bored.

does that count RPGs or just grinder games like "current" COD games? I loathe the leveling in FPSs and refuse to play those out of principle. Though I do love my RPGs....as long as i play co op with someone. I got Neverwinter Nights 2 and dying to play that with someone.

I'm 45. I don't play that many games, but I do still game. Just bought Battlefront and play with my boys. Fun times, fun times...

LOL the same with my son. I got him started on Orcs and Humans back in the 90's. I beat the crap out of him the first 2-3 times. Then he wanted to know my strategy on playing the game. Once I discussed with him what I do, all it took was 2-3 more times playing and he kicked my ass every single time (damn kids). Should have played against the wife LOL.

And for the even older crowd, before that it was Atari thumb

Awful memories of those damn corners of the Atari CX40 joystick- cutting into the bones of my hands.

My first ever video game upgrade- was the Wico Joystick that replaced it.

46yrs old, started on the BBC micro (grew up in England), went on to an Acorn Electron, then a Commodore 64. Still play weekly on my i7 rig.

i remember when i got the dreamcast for Christmas. I played that on stop for like 2 weeks and my hands were torn apart by blisters lol

I'm just 37 here and I feel like the majority of people I play with are in their teens to mid-twenties. I played MMOs like Final Fantasy XIV and World of Warcraft for years on end and quit completely just recently. I play PC games exclusively, but my kids play console games mostly. I've been playing Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain a lot recently and it's been great. It's probably the best stealth / espionage game I've ever played. When new seasons roll around I play Diablo 3 quite a bit. I'd say I game on average 2-3 hours per night 3 - 4 nights per week. I'll keep gaming as long as it holds my interest. So far I have way more games than I have time to play. I'm slowly working through my "queue", but the games I want to play are:

The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt
Middle Earth: Shadow of Mordor
The Batman games (Arkham Asylum, City, and Origins)
Darksiders I/II
a bunch of others

I'm not so sure of that. I think mid 30's would be about the median age of members of this forum. It's been around since around 2000 when a lot of us were in high school and college. We all thought we would grow out of gaming by the time we had a family and were in our thirties. Boy were we wrong!

Just made me realize I was 23 when I joined hardforums. Man how time flies.

I am 49 years old and soon to be 50 and I build my own gaming PC's. I remember buying my first PC (HP 386SX) from Circuit City back in 91. I remember buying many games from Microprose (Gunship, F19 Stealthfighter, B-17 Flying Fortress, F-117 Stealth Fighter). There use to be many flight simulators back in the day and I spent many hours playing Gunship 2000. I tried to play Falcon 4.0 but the learning curve was high on that game. Then I played the Wing Commander series. Before the PC I remember playing Pong then moving up to the Atari 2600 and then to the Mattel Intellivision. Now I mostly play BF4 online and I just started playing Fallout 4. I just had to mention Red Baron one of favorites right next to Gunship 2000.

Lmao, just a few weeks ago i had couple of beers and bought some of these on Steam. Stupid nostalgia trip. I played the shit out of F117, F19 etc way back. Few days ago i fired up Gunship all giggly and shit and after a minute or so i told myself - wtf were you thinking man, i can't stand this for a second anymore after getting used to Battlefields and COD's of today. Used to love Microprose games.

I think my most played game ever was original Operation Flashpoint, i don't even want to think about how much time i wasted on that damn editor and mods, but even Arma 3 bores me now because of how slow it is. Got used to fast paced games i guess. With limited time for gaming i have no more patience, i need instant gratification. Funny how that works as you get older.

Red Baron was fun. I just picked it up at GOG a little while ago. My all-time favorite game was Secret Weapons of the Luftwaffe. I remember when I got it thinking how great the graphics were. LOL.

I joined this forum when I was 35. 50 now.
