Acer Predator XB271HU - 27" 1440p 144Hz G-Sync IPS ULMB 144hz

Ordered one from Amazon. Hopefully this will be the end of my monitor search after the disaster I experienced with three XB270HU.

my april build was perfect, my brother just got his today and his is also perfect.

you either have some rly bad luck or you're making it all up.

Anyone hear anything from the Acer store? I ordered on Monday but haven't even got shipping info yet.

Yes. I ordered mine on Sunday and they shipped yesterday the 1st. They will arrive tomorrow the 4th.

Erm... WOW...

I go with "I'm making it all up"!

To be fair, I have two XB270HU, both perfect but they were June and July builds. I don't doubt that the XB270HU had manufacturing problems though my three ASUS Swift's had the same issues and I was playing the lottery everytime I had to buy one.

;)

i'm also enjoying my xb270hu. no dead pixels, blb barely noticeable. another world, coming from a benq xl2411z with modest colors and contrast. and finally ulmb too, so this beauty doesn't blur. sure the 271 and the asus look more modern, but frankly i don't look at the bezel, just at the screen, and it's great.

The monitors arrived after a screw up by FedEx. The first has 2 dead pixels, and the second is fine, except it has a small puncture wound in the protective coating. The dead pixels don't meet Acers policy, so I'm going to refund that, but should I just refund the second one, or get a replacement?

Anyway, my xb271hu will arrive later today but will only be able to test it tomorrow or day after, as I will be out half the weekend.

So i've got this sitting on my desk next to another monitor. The whites on the predator seem yellow tinted in comparison and doesn't really display them properly. Has anyone else had similiar issues with this monitor? Acer on the left.

Likely the color temp is just overly warm. You should try changing the RGB levels. Probably won't be able to match things up exactly with your other monitor without a colorimeter though

I think I set mine to User with RGB = 91 / 91 / 100 to fix the yellow. Will confirm when I get home.

It's a lot better now thanks! It's still not 100% but it's gotten rid of the obvious yellow tinge. May be time to invest in colorimeter.

Where are you guys configuring this? I have the sRGB sliders, and they all start at 50 - plus, I have RGB and CMY as well.

The OSD is pretty terrible imo. It's located within the color temp under the user profile and is named as red blue and green gain.

If you select the main settings, go down one to color, color temp is in there.

Haha, damn, talk about a terrible OSD. Thanks a lot, nanda. Found it. And yeah, 91/91/99 seems to be much better. I tried using my Spyder4Express, but it was still a bit... reddish after the calibration. Now it's looking much better.

Wow, that is a significant difference. Vega, didn't you mention somewhere that the new XB271 uses a different method of clamping the bezel around the panel so that BLB is reduced?

Yes, so far the XB271HU retention method is proving to be superior. Will test more samples.

Just hooked up mine. Almost none-existent BLB (I would say almost perfect!), no dead pixels found, regular IPS glow that isn't abysmal and minor yellow tint on white which can be noticed if put against my bluish tinted QNIX.

That BLB doesn't bother you?

There is no BLB to be seen with the XB271HU there. You're probably confusing it with IPS glow which it does still have. A lot of people seem to do that. The BLB is on the Asus which looks like the splotchy light coming in from the bezel sides.

Quite incredible the turn around Acer has made with this new monitor. The level of quality control is quite high! All five of my XB271HU's can overclock to 165 Hz, have zero dead or stuck pixels, no dust trapped behind the panel and all exhibit minimal back light bleed. Once it get's darker out I'll post some photo's.

I didn't confuse it just mistyped. This doesn't bother you? I can't stand IPS due to the glow.

It definitely does bother me. Right now there is no monitor that gets everything right. It's all a trade off of refresh rate, resolution, color, pixel response, contrast, viewing angles, IPS glow, and backlight bleed. Pick your poison pretty much. This display might be the best overall of the bunch.

As someone who mainly used TN panels for a long time, the IPS glow certainly started to bother me at some point while I was doing night time gaming in dark scenes. I got a lamp for my room since I have no ceiling lights and it definitely helps a bunch with the glow. If you're going to use this monitor then really don't use it in pitch darkness for any dark content as the IPS glow will just stick out.

Probably my best XB271HU. Just a very slight amount of back light bleed on the bottom right corner, overall very good. You can see the transition from silver IPS glow to sitting in front of the monitor. Very difficult test for 30 brightness in a black room.

I'd call that effectively no BLB. Nice. Now if only Acer would SHIP MY FUCKING PANEL that I ordered last Monday. :(

Wow I ordered one today when it was in stock for next day shipping. Its still not shipped. really hoping it gets here this week.
