Marvel has finally dropped the first trailer for what some are dubbing “Avengers 2.5.” Highlights include our first glimpses of Black Panther, and Iron Man getting his butt handed to him.

Yeah, Avengers 2.5 sounds appropriate, saw the Black Panther in there (I believe), so they're pimping that movie next. I am curious though, the comic story line on this was basically every Marvel character picking sides, including mutants and what not, but they don't have the rights to everyone, so I guess they roll with what they have.

The Marvel movies are very formulaic - however, I like the formula. I'll be watching this movie when it comes out.
I wonder how many more movies we are going to see with this crew? (I hope to see a lot more - I think the cast is perfect for the parts)

I was worried this was another Avengers but I'm impressed. It feels like Winter Soldier. The best Marvel movie to date IMO.

Jessica Jones is quickly topping that. Loving this series.

Not many more, if any. Robert Downey has made no secret of the fact that he wants to step away from Tony Stark and Chris Evans has said he wants to get away from acting entirely and direct and Marvel is apparently on board with that. Having Captain America kill Tony Stark in the Civil War would certainly accomplish both those things.

But considering Marvel have been colossal pussies about killing "good" characters off in the movies that might be wishful thinking.

Actually I'm hoping it's another avengers. IMO CA movies are ranked below Iron man, thor and Avengers.

They can't kill any of them just yet. You'll have to wait for Infinity War.

Looks excellent. Avengers 2.5? No. Avengers is the team fighting together against a common enemy.

It looks like it's going to be an amazing movie. I was disappointed Agents of SHIELD wasn't on last night, then I see this. Redeemed, Marvel.

Winter Soldier was one of my favorite Marvel movies so far. I think this one will be up there with it. I think Marvel found a winning formula and is going with it for a long arc. I'm just worried that they will try and play it safe and not stray from that formula and it will go stale. So far, so good, though. I own every Marvel movie so far and still watch them all in chronological order.

The Avengers (aka "Avengers Assemble")
Marvel One-Shot: Item 47 (short; Avengers release)

Marvel's Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D Season 1, The Well (ep. 8) to End of the Beginning (ep. 16)
Captain America: The Winter Soldier (runs simultaneously with S.H.I.E.L.D, ep. 16)
Marvel's Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D Season 1, Turn Turn Turn (ep. 17) to Beginning of the End (ep. 22)

I'm hoping the movie's main focus is on the Captain America and Bucky romance (Superhero Brokeback). My biggest issue with Avengers 2 was the bloated cast, it felt like there was no development there and what development there was got quickly glossed over.

And, yeah, agree with the other poster re: Jessica Jones. It has been really good so far (haven't finished it) and Tennant is quickly becoming one of the best Marvel villains. Also, props to Daredevil which was also very good.

Yeah, this is Disney owned Marvel we're talking about, and killing off a major character just ain't going to fly anyways. My thought is after all is said and done Tony Stark has enough and simply "walks off into the sunset" kind of thing.

I'm predicting Chris Evans dies in this, if not for sure in Infinity War. Sebastian Stan is signed on for another 3-4 movies with Evans contract running out I believe. 2:05 into the trailer, that scene sounded like something before well...yeah "Another bites the dust."

Yes that was the black panther. They talked about him in Avengers 2. His movie is coming up at some point here. And yes they don't own the rights to everything, they did get spider man back as they needed at least him to do the story right. However outside of that no x-men, no fantastic four or people like that. So it will be a much smaller story than the comics.

The Marvel movies are very formulaic - however, I like the formula. I'll be watching this movie when it comes out.
I wonder how many more movies we are going to see with this crew? (I hope to see a lot more - I think the cast is perfect for the parts)

I don't think there will be very many more. From what I recall there is only the stand alone Thor movie for Thor, then you have Avengers 3 part 2. Everything else is new people. Avengers 3 part 1 is actually going to have all the new people getting their asses kick. Then in part 2 the orginal crew comes back together one last time to save the day and put their differences from Civil War aside.

I appreciate a good trailer and this is one of them. Can't wait to see it a long with Batman vs Sups. Love superhero moveis.

They're going to have to seriously pare down the plot line, considering the size and scope of the source material, never really cared for the Civil War arc. It just cemented my dislike for the Tony Stark character,an alcoholic control freak with real ego problems

Omg the bad CGI motion fighting in that trailer. Getting really tired of it and the weirdly unnatural too-quick jumps and rebounds associated with it. Hopefully the story overcomes it and reinstates the suspension of disbelief that is required.

This is a comic book movie you do realize?

Agreed. I loved seeing Cap and Bucky pound Iron Man in the trailer.

Will be interesting to Spiderman's debut in the Marvel movies. I never liked the Sony/Spidey movies.

The Civil War is the start to Phase 3 which includes in this order...

Captain America: Civil War
Doctor Strange
Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2
Untitled Spider-Man film
Thor: Ragnarok
Black Panther
Avengers: Infinity War – Part 1
Ant-Man and the Wasp
Captain Marvel
Avengers: Infinity War – Part 2
Inhumans

I think peak superhero has been hit. When the movies become a convoluted as the comics or too numerous to reach a finale, they'll lose people and/or people will just binge watch the box set.

We've hit peak superhero and Whedon eventually starts to suck when he get bored and/or runs out of ideas rather than ending on a high note.

What? Everyone has opinions, sure, but you can't be serious? Did you see the last Iron Man and Thor movies? By far the weakest (and on average lowest rated) Marvel movies out so far. If anything, the Captain movies have been the best ones so far, especially Winter Soldier.

I think we're getting close to that. I love superhero movies, so I've liked some of the bad ones (Superman Returns, Daredevil, Superman 4...). Even though these new Marvel movies are action packed, they aren't going to last forever. The twists, the overall plot, the characters - they are going to get stale. I love them, but I wonder about everyone else. Are they going to remain general audience awesome while still satisfying the nerds? Or are they going to sell out (Michael Bay style) and make an action movie while disappointing the nerds? Or are they going to appease the nerds but alienate the general audience? I'm hoping the first one. But, it's still a long lineup, and I know some people are already getting tired of the same characters and the "Same shit, different day" plotline.

I wish the trailer weren't so long, gives away too much of the plot and my penis can only get so hard.

Well this is why we have been getting.teasers of other characters and books. Age of Ultron, Infinity Wars, Strange, Illuminati, Antman, etc...
I predict a Young Avengers movie announcement soon, following the Marvel NOW! releases, because LGBT.

I tell ya though, DC is straight up winning on TV shows. Gotham, Flash, Green Arrow...LOVE THEM.

Correct, however that doesn't answer the person's question of how many more movies have iron man, thor, captain America and the rest of the original avenger crew.

That was the only part I was trying to reference. you have Thor 3. And then if I am recalling correctly Infinity War - Part 1 does not contain captain America, iron man, thor, hawkeye, black widow, or the hulk. Instead you start off with people introduced since then (ant man, vison, scarlet witch, dr strange....), they try to stop Thanos and then after they fail you then have everyone come together for the final fight.

Yeah, hopefully you can avoid trailers until next year for the movie, the Avengers 2 movie did that for me with it's sneak preview trailer too with the Hulkbuster armor, the trailer had me going "Awesome!!!!!" in the movie I was like "oh here's where he gets his armor and fights the Hulk" now if I didn't know that was coming I would have been in the movie theaters going "OOOOOH FUCK HULKBUSTER!@!!!!!!" jumping out of my seat taking pictures of the screen with my cell phone, calling people telling them "I JUST SAW HULKBUSTER ARMOR!!!"

ok maybe not that extreme, but it would have made more of an impact.

That is the problem with most trailers. I know everyone said not to watch a single trailer for The Grey before watching it as it would ruin the movie. I find this to be true for more and more movies. This isn't new either, T2 ruined the movie with its trailer also. I have gotten to the point where I try to avoid trailers as much as possible for movies I want to see.

I've been waiting for a good Dr. Strange movie for over 40 years now....

I've learned not to get my hopes up. :(

I concur. Winter Soldier was a great throwback thriller. Something the whole MCU has needed for a while. One of the better examples where it was less about the wow CGI factor and just having a good story to watch.

the comics have lasted 100 years soon.
comics simply put display the world whats going on around us in a hero fashion.
the movies will change due to the world changes around us.

Batman 1988 vs 2006?
superman 1980 vs 2016?

There wont be an end to the marvel and DC movies.

soon Batman, superman, cap america will fight terror suicide bombers.
atm its Hydra but it might be terror next.

Getting a little burned out on all these comic book movies. Looks like nothing else can get greenlighted in Hollywood unless it is a sequel or a comic book.

That is not true at all... you forgot remakes on your list.
