Just curious what tablet everyone on here is using.

Android, IOS, Windows or all three?
I have a Surface Pro 2 for work and a Nexus 9 for personal use.

What's everyone using?

In our family we have Samsung Tab4 for the kids, an ipad mini for the wife and I have my Dell Venue 8 Pro.

Still using my Nexus 7 2013, no reason yet to get something else.

Ipad air 2 that work provided me. Rarely gets used but its nice to have.

Tab S. Anything without an AMOLED panel is junk.

Even with it's last update of 5.0?
Mine seriously takes 10 minutes to boot up, freezes between just two applications and takes forever to install things.

You mean 6.0? My son's 2013 N7 runs pretty fast, I was just playing with it since he's grounded from it now, lol. I was switching apps and using it without issue. I was actually pretty surprised with how fast it still ran.

I have a Shield Tablet which has mostly been neglected since I started school. Pretty much only play Clash of Clans on it when I do something and browse a bit on it. I love the front facing speakers and it's pretty fast/smooth as well. Only things I don't care much about on it are the display (though not bad, just an average 1920x1200 LCD display) and it seems to charge too slowly on anything but the stock charger that it came with. All of my quick chargers and 2A+ chargers only charge it at around 500-1000mA speeds for some reason, while the stock 2.1A charger does fine on it. Hope it gets Marshmallow soon though, Nvidia has been pretty decent with updates on their Android devices so far.

My Nexus 7 got the Marshmallow update over the weekend. Seems to be running very smoothly.

I had an iPad Mini 2 and Air 2. Also tried a couple of Samsung tablets. The only one I kept and still use is my trusty 32GB Nexus 7. I really like the compact size and snappy performance. I use it for media consumption, web, e-mail

Nexus 9 with rooted AOSP Marshmallow (6.0) plus Ninja Kernel & Xposed Framework

It runs way better than Kitkat but I'm waiting for CyanogenMod 13 to be released for it.

I used an iPad 2 for four years... yes... an iPad 2, not an iPad Air 2. Now, I have nothing (sold it). I'd like to get a Mini 2 or 4 (no point in bothering with the 3 at this point). But frankly I don't think I can afford an "extra" gadget. So I'm more than likely going to settle for an iPhone 6/6s Plus to fill both rolls. If I had the cash I'd do both, but it's just not attainable for now.

iPad Air. There are a couple of small signs that it's a 2-year-old device (multitasking transitions in iOS 9 are a bit choppy, if still fast), but it still does the job pretty well. I'll probably end up with its 2016 equivalent.

With that said, I've tried numerous Android and Windows tablets over the years, and I'm not averse to those platforms. I just think Apple has the richest app ecosystem, a knack for good design and a focus on higher-end mobile tablets that's increasingly hard to find elsewhere.

Have a Kindle Fire 7"
Also just acquired one of the original Lenovo TouchPads and am in the process of upgrading it.

I can see why Lenovo dumped them originally. With all the Lenovo middleware on there, the things are flaky, slow, and chow down the battery like a fat kid in a candy shop.

The only tablet I have in my house is a Winbook TW700 from Microcenter. It's pretty awesome for what it cost.

Galaxy Tab S2 for my android tablet.

Original Surface Pro 128gb for a Windows tablet/laptop.

Trying to keep my collection minimal these days and sticking with the best:

Surface Pro 4 (two handed full productivity)
Galaxy Tab S2 8" (one handed consumption and light productivity)
Note 5 (pocketable consumption and light productivity)

I, too, am using an iPad2 from work, and I've had it for four years, but unlike UnknownSouljer I still have it. I'm going to request to get a new one -- the iPad Pro. (The reason I want the iPad Pro is because I want to be able to read sheet music from it. Sheet music on the iPad/iPad Air is too small.)

For reference, I literally just sold it. As in, approximately 1 week ago. I finally was able to pickup a laptop in addition to my desktop and I'm in a place where I can't afford to have overlap. It had to go because like I say the money was more important to have elsewhere. Granted, I realize that tablets and laptops don't do exactly the same things or handle tasks the same way, but I could only afford one mobile device without a screen. So, I'm rocking that and an iPhone 4S.

The iPad 2 did work with me for a very long time though, which is surprising. Of course I didn't game with it, it was primarily for reading, browsing, watching videos, and e-mail but it did those things very well even late into its life. I'm not sad to see it go though. I just have to be super practical and spartan. And I am really glad to have a full blown machine again that I can use for work on the road.

Sheet music would be tough. I do know several people that use their iPads with tabulature/lyrics, but reading full blown notation would be hard on virtually anything. You have a super specific usage case. I probably just would've went to carrying around a self made music book, as heavy and as "impractical" (depending on how you look at it) as that would be.

iPad Mini 1
iPad Air 1
Kindle HD 7
HP Envy 7
Moto X Pure Android phablet

Dell venue 11 pro for me, ipad Air for my daughter and for me and the wife to play Scrabble on.

Galaxy Tab S2, I have the 9.7" because I do a lot of media watching in bed on it. I like it a lot, that tablet is really responsive and the screen is amazing. AMOLED is perfect for late night media watching on a 4:3 tablet because you cant see the black bars, hooray true black.

My Nexus 7 2013 is still kicking and it fits my needs very well. Though, I'm always worried mine will brick itself at some point.

That's why I never rooted mine. I just run stock Android (6.0) with Nova Launcher. Keep it simple and stable.

Purchased the SP2 (256 GB/8 GB model) on clearance at the beginning of the year. It's now my tablet, laptop, and even serves as a perfectly adequate desktop when I'm away from home but have access to a monitor.

I personally have an iPad Mini (Gen 1). My girlfriend has an iPad Mini 3 Retina.

I use it so infrequently, basically all it does is provide a larger screen for games I play on my iPhone, performance doesn't really even matter... Provides a second screen interface for Xbox/PS4 games, etc..

Meet the new Shield, same as the old Shield.

Just $100 cheaper :p

For $200, it's hard to find a better tab. I love mine. Not much to complain about at all.

How has Nvidia been with pushing out Android updates? Pretty quick? Or do they wait months like typical OEMs?

Better than most OEMs. From what I've seen, they get updated 1-3 months after the Nexus tabs do. I think I read yesterday that Nvidia plans to update the Shield tabs to Marshmallow/6.0 in December. They pretty much run stock Android with a few tweaks to allow all apps/games to be installed to an external SD card (so the stock 16GBs is actually usable still) and the Nvidia apps to manage the controller and exclusive titles they have for it.

I love my Nexus 7 2013. How many years will the battery last?

I assume when the battery goes dead you gotta throw it away.

2x dell venue 7 pro tablets (baytrail atom)
1x dell venue 11 pro tablet (baytrail atom)
1x dell venue 11 pro tablet (core i5)

Currently have:

HP TouchPad 32GB
ASUS Nexus 7 16GB (2012)
HTC Nexus 9 16GB

I'm going to sell the TouchPad soon and just bought the Nexus 9. I'm liking it 75% so far but really was hoping it was faster than my Samsung Galaxy S6. The memory management and odd performance hick-ups piss me off the most.

How is your 2012 N7 holding up?
Mine is god awful. 5.0 is horrible on this thing. 4.4 was much smoother.

N7 2013 LTE, Android 6.0, runs great and love it.

Wish they'd come back with a 2015 version, same form factor, just better hardware...

Closest thing to it is the Shield tab K1 that was just released from last year. It's still a solid tab and well worth the $200 price now. It's stock Android with just a couple Nvidia tweaks/apps. I have one and my son has a 2013 N7 as well. The N7 keeps up pretty well until you do anything graphically demanding, then it's night/day in performance and the front facing speakers are significantly better.
