World of Warcraft: Legion Cinematic Trailer

they need to make WoW 2 already. Till then, I'm not going to re-sub.

Are you under the impression that the current game is the same as the game that was released ~11 years ago?

Every time an expansion is released it usually brings with it at least some improvements to the game. We're now talking about the 6th expansion... Minimum system requirements are commonly updated with each new expansion as well.

When the game came out, you could play it on a Voodoo3. Now it uses DirectX11 with rumors about DirectX12, and even supports 3+ way SLI & Crossfire. Character models have been updated with new high-resolution models. Most of the explorable areas of the world have either been updated from their original versions, or came with an expansion pack and are thus newer by default.

What exactly would your definition of "WoW 2" be? Something that abandons all existing subscribers and starts everything from scratch?

still the same POS graphics 12 years ago yes. It's like minecraft graphics compare to new games now.

It's definitely not the same graphics as 11 years ago. Were you asleep when they released the major character model updates? Did you forget how they revamped almost the entire game world with new, higher-resolution textures during Cataclysm? I realize that slow changes over time may not seem as apparent, but that doesn't mean nothing has changed.

Also, sounds like you are comparing against conventional games. WoW is an MMO, where it has to be built to accommodate potentially hundreds of players in a fairly tiny area. WoW benefits from faster CPU IPC so much that I saw a noticeable increase in performance going from my 2500k @ 5Ghz (not exactly slow...) to my current 5820k @ 4.5Ghz. It certainly wasn't that demanding 11 years ago when most people were playing on Single-core Pentium 4 and AthlonXP CPUs.

We've already fought Fel creatures in Outland during BC, Blizzard has literally run out of ideas. Are they going to redo Karazhan for this expansion too? This game and entire story line is dead.

Expansion does seem like a step backwards, going back to Outlands etc. I want new mobs, content and areas.

On a completely unrelated note, I never realized how silly that Alliance airship was by design compared to the horde variation. I understand its a fantasy game, however as illustrated by the video you take out one engine and the whole thing comes crashing down. Not a good design by any stretch of the imagination.

Definitely had a TBC xpac feel to it. Ain't a bad thing either - the BC expansion was definitely not the worst Blizz ever did in the xpac department. Who can forget BT / TK / Karaz as a level 80?

I remember those ZA runs most of all though. We never did get a bear mount run complete.

Blizzard always were good at making preview videos and this is no exception.

I don't see anything there about it being set in Outland. They're flying over an ocean, of which there are none in TBC Outland.

lol don't get worked up so much. I know you're a wow fanatic but still POS graphics. They can only do so much with the graphics department without remaking the whole game with new engine. Still POS graphics compare today's standard. It's a milkmegame and dying fast and it should.

Yes they update the graphics a bit here and there each time. However there is still so much legacy code in the game that can't keep track of it's just out of control. There's a reason they can't make the backpack have more slots for example, because it's hard-coded in so many places they've finally given up trying.

This game needs a complete rewrite. Start from scratch? Sure why not they've proven getting 12.5M subs at once is achievable.

Believe it or not, it’s just technically challenging. The original backpack just wasn’t coded with expandability in mind, and bumping it up now carries the risk of losing players gear, which of course would be catastrophic. It’s still on the list, but it’s not as simple as someone changing a 16 to a 24.

Of course that was from 2011. Maybe things have changed since then.

no I'm not. It's my opinion and I'm entitled to my own opinion. Might be good enough or 5mil+ subscribers now including the bots and sellers.

During the whole trailer I was just asking myself "what's new?"

It's a repeat. At least Mists had something new.
