BenQ BL3201PT 4K monitor

No. I am using a DisplayPort cable which has been used with several other 4K monitors, none of which exhibited this issue.
 
I have this monitor and I've suffered through the occasional flicker (not a big deal), but my screen is suddenly blacking out for a second or two at random intervals (this is a big deal). Has anyone had this happen to their BL3201PT? It's happening every couple of minutes, it appears.

I've been using the included MDP cable off my 7970 and it's been working great, granted I haven't spent more than two consecutive hours in-front of it yet.
 
I ordered a replacement monitor due to the first one having weird yellowing, a bright column, and a 'bruise' on the left side of the screen. The new one seems a bit more even (or just the yellow starts closer to the sides), but now instead I have this weirdo dark backlight patch. Build date July 2015. No screws behind that area to loosen to try to help.

Feeling disappointed right now seeing these issues with a pricetag this high.

I have used a multitude of cables, including the one included. The issue occurs irrespective of resolution, which rules out cable bandwidth limitations as a potential case.
 
January 2015 model has the same "bruise" which isn't classified as a fault.:mad:
Also has bad red tint, blue glow in the left and yellow glow in the right-top corners.

A dumb question perhaps, but this does mean that Freesync does not work, correct (as there appears to be no Freesync range defined? Or does it mean that it will work from 48-60hz?

There's a video floating around on Youtube claiming to have a Freesync compatible BL3201PT that takes no performance hit when enabling the feature. Manufacture date is March 2015. There was also a comment on the video:

ALSO, to answer your question, after march benq started making your monitor but with freesync capabilies, so if you bought it after march, that's probably why

Interesting, My monitor has a build date of July 2015. I'll poke around the menus and hook it up to my other comp with a 290X and see what I can find regarding Freesync.

Except that it is significantly cheaper and more widely available. Plus is very well reviewed.

Looks like it's not yet available from any Canadian resellerr... After USDCAD conversion it's almost 2x the price of the BenQ. :eek:

What is the FreeSync range do you know?

It definitely works - the windmill demo with the vertical bar test pattern is solid with Freesync on. For some reason it only reveals 55 fps to me so the sweep option doesn't work, even after updating the BenQ drivers.

Going to try updating my AMD drivers to latest ones to see if it helps.

EDIT: Not sure, it seems to tear around 45FPS when I was watching Valley benchmark. It's possible the 48-60 range is legit. On another note, it seems doing this repeated Valley becnhmark testing has revealed a RAM problem on my video card with it displaying weird patterns across the screen. Time for RMA.

I just joined the forum to share some of my experience with BenQ 4K BL3201PT monitor.

I have mine for about 5 months and it has been driven by Titan Black SC in 3 way SLI

From a very beginning the monitor has been losing its signal at random times, maybe not as often as your but it was happening maybe once or twice a day I was able to bring the signal back by turning monitors power button ON and OFF and then toggle between DisplayPort and HDMI port using soft touch OS buttons that are beside the monitors power button.
I'm using DisplayPort to Mini DisplayPort cable that came with the monitor.

That really didn't bother me much and I could have live with that I didn't have to hard reboot so I left it at that until just few days ago.
As you know Nvidia introduced TDR in their new drivers and that's where bigger problem started. Due to signal loss now instead of me bringing the signal back to desktop the PC simply restarts due to TDRs nature.

Also I just know this that I also have veridical lines very quickly splashing in the middle of the monitor, sometimes once sometimes twice a day.
So, it seems that it's the monitor itself that has the issue and you not alone. Have you got to the bottom of that e.g. replacement or fix?

I just submitted RMA form to BenQ so I'm hoping that this is going to be rectified one way or the other.

I received mine yesterday, and noticed the same "bruise" towards the bottom middle of the screen that two others mentioned. Its very noticeable. Do they all have this?

No I don't have that on mine.
Man, such a nice monitors and decent price compare to other 4K in that size but the QC its very questionable.
Let us know if you have any issues with "Loss of Signal"

What build date is your monitor? My monitor was assembled in July 2015 but the panel inside is dated December 2014. I was disappointed with the bruise and the antiglare graininess but free sync and 4k make up for it sort of.
 
All I can say is, there is definitely something wrong with this monitor as we all experiencing different issues.

I'm little sad because the picture quality is great and the size wise at least for me it's just right, but from time to time I have this "No signal detected" issue that I was able to fix and bring my signal back with power bottom ON and OFF but now only hard reboot will do it. Also occasional quick flash vertical lines in the middle of the screen are happening so there is something strange.
BenQ support seems surprise at mentioned issues as if no one ever had reported any related problems before :confused:

My first panel had a flashing rectangle in the top-left of the screen; I'm on my second one now. It has the bruise (the first one did too, and the bruise was much worse than on this one).

I was really debating whether to RMA this 1 or not and don't know if I will, leaning to words not. My concern is, because so many ppl have issues, all sorts of different defects with this monitor and because I have mine for 6 months they will sent me refurbish that with my lack I might end up getting one of yours defective you returned :) kidding
How flexible and fair is BenQ as far is exchanges

I've been exchanging directly through both Amazon and Newegg. My third arrives today. Once I take a look at it, I'll access my situation. If this third one has the bruise, I'm going to assume that they all have it and I'll have to decide whether or not I can live with that.

Mine doesn't have it, its crystal clear, well other then the other isssues :D so lets hope you will get defect free1;)

As a side note, aside from the bruise this display is easily the best I've ever used. Color, contrast, input delay, pixel response times and glow levels are all fantastic. That bruise sucks, though.
 
I completely agree, this is by far nicest and easiest to navigate 4K display I've owned.
If mine had issue that yours does I probably would just not bother exchanging it, probably wouldn't bother me, so I think :), but again on the picture doesn't seem big but in reality might be different story.
This is something like you said "I'm going to assume that they all have it and I'll have to decide whether or not I can live with that" so it's all your decision my friend.
Keep us posted on your 3rd 1 if it's any different and your decision.
 
The third one is fairly terrible.

Dead pixels, bruise, etc. Its all there. It's going back. I still have panel #2, which has only the bruise. I may keep it; My question is, is the Asus PA328Q any better?
 
Man, ouch that would be very irritating and exhausting, that's why when I mentioned earlier about not wanting RMAing my monitor I might end up with worse, sorry.
I can't comment on Asus new 4K monitors but I had 2 of the PQ321Q and they both were terrible, dead pixels and some burned spots on both of them, colors were not as vibrant as BenQ's that's for sure.

I have used Asus boards for a long time and never had any issues that's why I got 2 of their firs adopters of 4K displays, it was big mistake.
Whether their new PA328Q are good I couldn't tell, from reviews apparently they are fairly nice but time might tell better otherwise, also the price is almost twice as much for what you pay for BenQ.
 
The Asus has uniformity correction, but turning it on locks the brightness and it didn't work for =DEAD=, and it has inferior colour presets too. I would try the HP 32 Spectre instead since it has a clarity and colour vibrancy boosting almost glossy/1% haze coating (more information and visual comparisons) and its white bezel will vastly increase the perceived black depth. The HP likely has better overdrive too (less overshoot versus AMA High; Video Overdrive On; off is the default) since their newer 25 & 27" 1080p do compared to the competition.
 
I think I may just have to live with the bruise on the second one. But, if you wouldn't mind, would you post your results for the gradient banding test on Lagom?

An Update:
After reformatting my new SSD, clearing motherboards CMOS and reloading iSO of my windows with older NVIDIA Driver 347.09 I've know this a significant improvement in monitors behavior.

I've decided to wait for few days before letting you know about my findings to make sure that my results are not false due to the nature of this bizarre random issue.
Since I've done the above adjustment the monitor its been working great and so far there is no sign of "Signal Loss" which was my biggest issue.

I believe the drivers where the biggest cause of the problem but also clearing CMOS and reformatting SSD has helped great deal in fixing what was the strange annoying issue
Now! when comes to the vertical lines that would quickly splash from time to time?

I can't say I'm 100% sure, but I am fairly positive that I know what causes it!
When I was inspecting cables behind the monitor, upon adjusting the original cable that came with the monitor ( about 12" away from mini display port on monitor itself) if I bent or move that cable I could see some display static flickering so the cable itself seem to have some sort of breakups and why is splashing vertical lines from time to time even when cable is touched I don't know.

Trying new DP cable takes the flickering away, I just emailed BenQ about my findings, maybe they know about the cable being sort of defective.

Technically it's matte, but the coating it uses (the least grainy or sparkly matte coating) used to be referred to as semi-glossy since it was so much lighter than the matte coatings when it first debuted (2011 grainy matte Dell U2711 versus "semi-glossy" Samsung S27A850D which was the first monitor to use this kind of coating), and is still lighter than the matte coatings TN panels use. The coating has become lighter and less reflective over time, and there are quite a few true semi-glossy displays (mostly 40"+ 4k monitors) available now.

The HP 32 Spectre has an almost-glossy (1% haze) coating, and I'm going to start testing one on Saturday. It's likely the same as the BenQ, but the almost-glossy coating and perceived black depth enhancing white bezel (and casing) give it a huge edge in my mind.
