Phanteks Enthoo EVOLV ATX Mid Tower Chassis Review @ [H]

Pro does not carry over many of the modern amenities:

1) Rather terrible hard drive cage - which I would be removing anyway for airflow. See the numbers when both cages are removed. I currently have 3 HDDs - this would require use of a 5.25 bay converters. The Evolv ATX has a far more elegant and airflow friendly arrangement.

2) Only 1 SSD drop/lock behind the mobo. You will notice the Evolv ATX has two (which is the standard now - see Fractal R5/S).

Thanks for the suggestion, but the Pro has already been evaluated by me and it wasn't fit for my needs.

It is obvious you read up on the Evolv and did a good hands-on evaluation. Great job!
 
Is it just me, or is the middle SLI card's fan at 33%, where the top and bottom card is at 70%?

The columns are current, minimum and maximum respectively.

The 3x GTX 280 cards are
Currently 70%, 70% & 82% at 82c, 84c & 82c
Minimum 33%, 33% & 33% at 44c, 48c & 44c
Maximum 70%, 70% & 71% at 82c, 84c & 82c​
Hope that all makes sense.
 
it's ridiculous that this case isn't available anywhere. They're just as bad as the intel skylake team (worse even)
 
I was just going to ask about a US release date lol.

I see a listing on Amazon, but it comes from Phanteks themselves. $180.

I am still sad I couldn't get the Pro M, I am not unhappy with my 450D, but the Pro M was perfect

I understand cancelling, but if you truly ordered it weeks ago, you weren't going to be waiting much longer. You basically assisted someone else getting their order sooner. My target date was Sept 23rd-Oct 15th FYI!

My order was placed August 25th, & my case arrives tomorrow via FedEx. This was a few days after it "sold out" on amazon when it was first released. So 28 days from purchase date. I look at it this way, "you buy something and it'll surprisingly show up at your door step in a month" :p

I would agree that the moment Hardware Canucks did a review on the case, it was hard for me to agree with buying another and I looked hard at others due to the wait restraints.

congrats, it looks like a fantastic case. But I have 3k worth of equipment coming this week, I can't let that goodness sit for 3 weeks so I could get this case. Plus, I still like having an optical drive.
 
For the love of God, where is this freaking thing? I have cash in hand, ready to buy and the closest I can find to any stock is "usually ships within 2 - 5 weeks" on Amazon. This wait is getting silly. I have an EK Predator 360 coming in October if they can't get it on the market by then, I'm going to have to start looking at other options. :(

*Just put in a pre-order for the Evolv, at least Amazon doesn't charge you until the item has shipped. They have until Oct 19th at the latest before I hit the cancel button.

Has anyone tried fitting a Rampage in this case? Official specs say it's too wide, but I'd like to see for myself.
 
The anthracite gray version just became available for pre-order in the U.S. again (they had some issues with the anodized finish on the gray version the first time around) if anyone has been waiting for it.

On a side note... I just talked to a Phanteks rep and he assured me U.S. retailers will be receiving a good sized shipment of cases towards the middle of this month.

must be made by Trolls , probably Mountain Kings , as it takes 6~8 weeks to get one . A call to sloteks got a reply of "well the sides are 3mm thick" . That's why they call it The Nether Lands I guess .
 
I was just told that Amazon is in the process of stocking and adding the cases to their inventory. :D Should start shipping out any day now.
 
I was wondering what was going on. I noticed that they changed the page to say "Temporarily out of stock" instead of having a date listed. I also noticed Newegg had them in stock the other day. I was really worried that Amazon didn't receive enough to fill their orders. I'm hoping I see that ship notification sometime in the next couple days. If not I may bite the bullet and order one from Newegg.
 
Just ordered the black version of this case from Newegg this weekend, due Wed. It's out of stock now lol. That was fast...
 
So pissed at Amazon right now. My expected delivery date for the Evolv was 10/16 - 10/22. I talked to Amazon today as my order has been "preparing to ship" for about 3 days now. Amazon tells me they still don't have the case yet and that my expected shipping date has now changed to 11/5. I explained how I was told Amazon was currently "in the process of stocking the cases" (by an Amazon rep who talked to the fulfillment center) a couple days ago and would be shipped out "very soon." Because of this I didn't order from Newegg while they had stock.

Amazon says tough shit we don't control the inventory. I reply with I understand that but Amazon DOES control the information about shipping dates they post on their website and when they post false information they have the ability to rectify it.

Amazon tells me to go fuck myself, my options are to wait or cancel.

Haha, definitely not. I'm absolutely aware that the customer service agent (I'm in cs myself) was not responsible for the issue and wasn't looking to take it out on him/her.

My irritation was just showing when I paraphrased the exchange in the above comment, lol.

That's what I was thinking too... Just seemed kind of weird that Newegg was able to get the case in stock somehow 2 days ago. If Amazon hadn't given me false information that my case was "being prepared for shipping" (funny how it changed to that right when Newegg got stock, and then switched to "We will notify you when we have an estimated delivery date" a couple hours after Newegg ran out of stock) I would have canceled the order and went through Newegg.

Just finished spending an hour with an Amazon supervisor. She upgraded the order to one day shipping and set a reminder for herself. If the case doesn't arrive by October 29th (the original date I was given when I first placed my order), she's going to consider it a "broken promise" on Amazon's part and make it right. If the case comes in by October 29th (my arrival date says Nov 9th as of now), I'll consider everything all good.

This is beyond disappointing. I was seriously considering ordering one from Newegg as well but figured it would be shipping from Amazon soon enough. My date is still listed at between 10/19 - 10-29 however I'm not expecting it now. I may end up canceling this case and going with something else at this point.

So does this mean they haven't gotten them in yet and don't have an ETA? I upped my shipping to next day almost a week ago because I'm itching to get this system built.

The supervisor I talked to said they had most definitely not received their shipment yet and couldn't give me an updated expected arrival date unfortunately (even after contacting two other departments about it).
 
I appreciate all of the updates. Saves me going through all of the stuff that you just went through. I spent a bit of time looking at cases and don't see anything I want nearly as much as this so I'll wait a bit longer. It might be worth mentioning that Newegg has the silver version "on backorder" and supposedly shipping in "1-2 days." I'll be watching it like a hawk and if I see them say in stock I'm ordering one. If I cant snag one of these by the end of the month I think I'm going to settle for a 750d.

Either or both of them or whoever is selling them on Newegg and Amazon could gumming up the works by not committing to a contract with Phanteks trying to negotiate a better price so they can make more profit.

I'm not saying that is what's happening, but it has happened in the industry in the past, so I'm not about to say who is to blame without evidence. ;)

All of you buying them is the problem. If you didn't buy all of the first shipment there would still be some left in stock. :D

Joking of course. Europe has them in stock from several dealers, so obviously Phanteks has been supplying them.

There is the fact that Phanteks is sold out on their own store page so somehow I do think it is Phanteks that is to blame for announcing a case months before it was available anywhere and then not making enough of them to meet the demand when it did finally go onsale.


This is becoming a trend for tech. They might as well just start allowing us to pre-order it before they even build them so we can wait 6 months. So sick of products not being in stock, if you do not have it to send me then do not try and sell it.
 
Just got a call from Amazon today. They have received their shipment and they said I could expect mine no later than Friday (card already charged, which they don't do until they are ready to ship). Good luck getting in on this shipment everyone!

I can understand your frustration. Sadly its the way the marked has evolved (no pun) with the internet. Sales are based on quick turnover from manufacturer to consumer with no reserve stock. This means products with high demand sell out quick and are slow to be restocked because of the scheduling involved in manufacturing .. and the more complicated (bits and pieces from different sources). the longer the timeline becomes. Add a few small problems and products can easily become 6 months to a year behind schedule .. and with all the problems in China adding to this ....

I was just coming to say that my status updated to Friday as well. What's odd is that I got am email saying my payment had been denied. I used my Amazon rewards card for it which has never given me issues. I just used the card to buy lunch so I know it's fine. I basically went into my order and hit retry payment and everything looks ok now. Here's hoping everything goes through OK and I don't end up with a damaged case or anything.
 
I feel better for you Amazon guys now. I'm sorry for the Newegg guys for taking one of yours this weekend...OK maybe not :D lol. Anyway, looks to be a good weekend to showcase our new cases.
 
I got my ship notification on the way home from work today. Gonna be a great start to the weekend when I get home tomorrow :D
