Phil Rogers AMD Fellow Jumps Ship to NVIDIA

You missed the part where Mantle is now DX12 and Vulkan.

Mantle is not DX12  Stop with that nonsense. Either way Mantle was killed before it even got out of beta.

AMD fans are always saying "just wait", while everyone who buys NVIDIA cards gets to enjoy games without waiting and hoping some miracle will improve them.

You missed the part where Mantle is now DX12 and Vulkan. More specifically Vulkan since AMD has more direct development with that API. Think about the name used for Vulkan. Mantle is like the layer around the Earth and volcanism is the release of that layer in what we call a volcano.

Volcanism
Vulkanism
Vulkan

You really that dense not to see Mantle has moved onto Vulkan?

Is there a SDK/programming guide for download...or are we just talking PR?

This is absolute economic myth produced as absolute truth and "matter of fact", when nothing exists to prove this stance.

"It is no crime to be ignorant of economics, which is, after all, a specialized discipline and one that most people consider to be a 'dismal science'. But it is totally irresponsible to have a loud and vociferous opinion on economic subjects while remaining in this state of ignorance."
I think you lack historical perspective , knowledge . Xeon is server I'm thinking desktop.

Intel BIGGEST competitor on the market...is their OWN older CPU's.

AMD has been largely irrelevant for years now..and yet, you can get more Intel CPU for you money now than ever before.

No. Why? Cause they're both handled the same way. Kinda makes sense since they both use HLSL. Microsoft practically copied the guide from Mantle.

It's no secret that AMD has poorly optimized drivers, especially when it comes to OpenGL. Why you think AMD performs so badly under Linux? But with DX12 you remove the need for driver optimizations and put that on the game developer. Thus why AMD's hardware is doing so much better in DX12 instead of DX11.

But it doesn't excuse Nvidia's blunder for not having Async Compute. It practically makes their cards not really DX12/Vulkan compliant. Again, great DX11 cards but not really DX12 ready.

It's been mentioned plenty of times before. Though Vulkan is such a huge evolution over Mantle.

And that's why a used 2500k is going for nearly the same amount as a 6600K. Though technically you're getting less Intel CPU for the money cause the price of their CPUs are going up. For Woz's sake, they still sell dual core CPUs. I don't think I can find a dual core AMD CPU. Most new cell phones are quad core, even the cheap Chinese MediaTek and AllWinner devices are now quad core.

Please show me, and all of the economic community this history. And you judge my knowledge of economics how?

Where did I say anything about Xeon server chips? The same factors still apply to them however, they do not exist in their own bubble universe where economic factors are turned on their head.

Also, are you going to take the wager we offered?

Now this will be fun.

Tell me what that guide you posted describes

What area?
In what context?
What does the guide say about writing code?

Because that picture does not say what you think it does and I bet you cannot answer.

That is what happens when you take source material (that you do not understand) and just parrot some FUD you picked up on the internet.

HINT:
Using that comparsion is just as bad as using WIREFRAME rendering to whine over tesselation.

It only shows your total lack of knowlegde about the topic.

Those markets would change quite a bit.
This idea that all CPUs would be 1K is stupid but so is the idea that prices would not raise one bit.

They don't have to do that. They could just stagnate the market like Intel and 3dfx used to do along with making lousy upgrade paths. The Voodoo 2 was the dominant card for years. We did get some great games, just with lousy visuals. Rarely does anything great come from a monopoly, but if AMD goes out of business then that's their bad.

Not sure what you're getting at and I don't think you do either. Both are programming guides for error checking. The syntax is just different for both Mantle and DX12. The wording for both is nearly identical, as if one copied from the other. Considering Mantle predates DX12, I would say Microsoft had a lot of influence from Mantle.

Developers were told before DX12 was released to use Mantle as a reference for coding DX12.
