this x2 just a fail but an expected fail. bored in 10 minutes
Played 2 hours and already getting pretty bored of it, feel like Dice played it too safe with the gameplay design and just reeks of consolitis. I passed on BF4/Hardline and unless i can find this for around $35ish on launch will probably do the same.

to me it looks like a bf4 with SW skins.
You should pick up bf4 next time premium goes on sale for $20. Its well worth it at that price point and they still have updates and maps coming out. I hated bf4 when it first came out and played bf4 up until the major patch this year. Now I play bf4 every night and its the best game installed on my pc.
Origin is the biggest pile of trash...When I launch battlefront it hangs on a black screen..When I launch Red Alert 2 it goes to the menu screen but there are no menu buttons...When I launch the mass effect 3 demo it says origin is not running so it must close WTF?!?! I went into origin live chat help & they basically told me to uninstall origin & then to delete a bunch of stuff in the registry?! are u kidding me just to play a damn game?! Ive never had to do this for steam, uplay, bnet ect..Every other game I own plays perfectly fine but the games on f***ing origin

Why even bring this crap to the PC? If they were going for casual then just make a mobile game with touch controls or maybe even a Facebook game. Makes zero sense to bring this to the PC.

You've got something else besides Origin going on. Post your system specs, GPU etc
I agree that the game is too casual and simplistic but it's fun for what it is...I want to try the beta on my PS4 just because my TV is connected to my home theater speakers and I can imagine how good the audio is on that compared to my PC speakers

The first ten minutes was incredibly boring. After I got a jet pack it got fun.
DPI im pretty sure its something with origin. How come every game I own on steam works perfectly fine? How come every game on Uplay works perfectly fine? Far cry 4, Blood Dragon, the new Rainbow 6 beta etc...How come every game on battlenet works perfectly fine? If it was something with my PC then I would have issues with other games as well but I dont.
Anyways I just uninstalled origin & did the registry clean they recommended & Batllefront finally works. However, red alert still has no menu buttons to get the game working & mass effect 3 wont work.

Looks like everyone is taking a massive dump on this game. I will try it tomorrow but don't have any hopes now.
the jet pack improved things for me as well...upgrading your loadout improves the experience for sure
I played the Hoth map as imperial and rebel, I got in a Tie Fighter, AT-AT and AT-ST and it was awesome. I played the 8 player match where pods have to be claimed or defended and it was awesome as well and I tried the single player game where I had to survive waves of enemies and it was awesome!.
I changed graphics to custom and then put everything on ultra and it was awesome.
I'm sold, I'll be picking it up when its released.

Sound was great, graphics are pretty and it plays smooooth. Even with my 7970 starting to show its age a bit. I'm not really feeling it, gameplay got a bit better with the jetpack but everything feels so simplified. Not that thats a bad thing but, I dunno. Its just not clicking for me. I'll wait and see I guess. Or I'll just end up picking it up on sale next year or something.

I have a hard time believing that most of the people in this thread have ever played a video game before this one. On any system, ever.
The amount of negativity, with utter lack of detailed constructive criticism is downright off-putting. To those of you that did include detail, thank you, I look forward to seeing what this game offers when I get home.

The overall feel of the game is pretty crap imo, gunplay incredibly basic. Vehicles are also pretty "meh" to control. The hero gimmick is pretty bleh as well, seeing Luke Skywalker bounding across the map in massive leaps just looks farcical at best.

I wonder how much of this is fixable in the next 4 weeks? Assuming the cases and manuals have already been printed and are ready to go. Wonder what the cutoff if for development, so they have enough time to burn, label, and ship copies across the country? And of top of that, how much of this matchmaking and other things are actually fixable in launch day patches?

At this point, nobody not under NDA knows what the final product will be like. Developers could still be looking for specific results on specific tests.
And testing how robust the server backend is of coarse.

Yes he does have something else wrong. Launching to black screen could be a driver issue, corrupted game install, or corrupted Origin install. Battlefrong REQUIRES the latest video card drivers. The others are symptoms of a game issue or bad game install, or again a corrupted Origin install.
He definitely needs to re-install origin. Sounds to me like the customer service reps were spot on. Last time I had problems with Origin was when it first launched.

I tried to join the first map and after like 15 minutes of searching for servers I joined the second map that it warns you to not play until you level up. In one match I got spawn killed 5 times in a row. Also the stock gun sucks, a good pellet gun does more damage. A hardcore mode would be a must.
I'm going to try a bit more later and see if I can unlock one of the other guns but so far I think the game is horrible. I was looking forward to this although I wasn't expecting much because of EA. Looks like they managed to fuck up again.

I've been having fun in the beta. That said I won't be purchasing this game, at least not till it's around $30. I don't like the sights on the blasters, wish they would have done normal look down the optic vs what they did.
Won't be able to try until later myself, but according to what I've read, "play Drop Zone for 45min which should get you past Rank 3 with an improved loadout. You don't want to attempt Walker Assault until after that."
So everyone rage-uninstalling and declaring the game shit after only 10 minutes, maybe calm down and try that first.

It seems the PC got the shaft in gameplay. There is absolutely NO aim bonus for stopping while firing or looking down your sites. Consoles do have a bit of a bonus, but still not much. What a shame. This is a great game mechanic that keeps things at least somewhat realistic while not having everyone run around like jackasses. I admit, I have not tried it yet. But this mechanic is a fundamental principle that made FPS games enjoyable in the last decade for me. If it stays like this in the real game, there is NO CHANCE I will even attempt to play it.

That sucks. Could just be launch day server issues. Maybe try it out again later, I wouldn't give up so soon. Half my Steam buddies are saying it's great, other half are saying it sucks. Love or hate it seems!
Nah I did both, I'm level 5 which is max level.
Pros -
Game looks great
Movement is fast and fluid, jump jetting into a large group of enemies and leading with a
thermal detonator doesn't get old.
Captures the feel of Star Wars
Sound is great, sounds just like the movie
Cons -
Gunplay just doesn't feel good, beyond a few minor characteristics there is little to set the guns apart (the MG42/LMG blaster is stupid OP though, and fun because of it).
Time to kill is really really short (this can be a plus or a minus)
Flying controls suck, as does flying itself. We will have to see if this changes with release, and maybe its not true on any other map.
Spawning is pretty shit, think hardline tdm bad but not CoD blops bad.

Battlefield pickups for everything, including vehicles and heroes. Not real excited about this. Including charges for the shield and the ion blaster effect. Meaning you have to pick that shit up to keep your personal shield and anti vehicle stuff going.
I've had no issues finding a match, but there is no way to change teams to even it up. The game also doesn't seem to want to bring people into the middle of a match to even things up. Leading to severe imbalance.
Aim down sights doesn't do much of anything.

Hardline had the same problems. It is like EA isn't ready to test the servers in the beta. They should have them ready to be hammered.

Well it seems the fears about no server browser meaning not being able to play with your friends turned out to be for naught. You can get a party of up to 8 together and then join a game as a group. A group of 4 of my BF4 friends just did it and it worked great. Shame there are no squads though.
If your friend is already in a game can you party up with them and then join their game? Or does it have to be done in advance? Nobody I play with is online and playing this yet so I haven't had a chance to play around with the party system at all.
That being said, I can't imagine what that's going to do to the matchmaking.
I'm not saying its a bad game, I'm just saying I'm not enjoying it as much as I wish I was. I wont crap on anybodies parade. If you like it by all means buy it and play the ever loving fuck out of it.

They got a lot of technical things right. Plays well, not laggy, a bit of sound issues. Overall, runs well. However, the game is dead boring. I joined the walker map my first round and just destroyed people. That gun has no recoil or drop. Just like having cheats enabled. ZZZZZZZZZZZZ
