Amazon Prime Packages Overwhelming College Campuses?

Amazon needs to come up with a service that delivers these packages right to your dorm room, class, locker room or wherever you may be on campus. ;)

If you think Amazon Prime is a reasonable deal at $99/year, imagine being a college student who only has to pay half that amount. Apparently, so many college students are using the service that school mailrooms are being overwhelmed with smiling cardboard boxes.
 
Well, if Amazon can get the approval for drone deliveries then they can start dive bombing campuses like they are Poland and Amazon is Germany ... alternately, I will volunteer to take one for the team and perform any necessary deliveries to the big sorority houses :cool:
 
Boo fucking hoo. Given the amount of money that most colleges collect from their students, I'm pretty sure they can afford to upgrade the capacity of their mail rooms.

But that would require them to spend money where it is actually needed.
 
I know we are in the minority, small small minority, and I've disagreed with how they've done it, the space they've moved into, but...

Purdue Univeristy has two amazon "stores" on campus, where you can get 1 day delivery from certain prime items, and have items delivered to a locker and can pick up at your leisure. The lockers are basically manually stocked by students when you "check in" and Purdue gets discounts on books, and I believe gets referral credit for purchased, but its sometimes nice to get something under 24 hours delivered to campus.

hey hEY HEY! Colleges need that money to pay for pedophile athletic coaches! And college presidents who will take bonus money to cover up for them!
 
Funding for our state colleges (Wisconsin) got cut by several hundred million, and you should hear them bitch! It's unbelievable, especially when I went to the state school in my town to tour with my son (where I have a degree from 15 years ago) and they've obviously spent hundreds of millions of dollars turning the place into a glass and steel paradise. There are coffee shops/deli's in every building FFS, so I'm pretty sure they could find some money to upgrade the mail system. Those poor, poor, universities that raise tuition the maximum they can per year as allowed by law. Worse yet, a stipulation of getting their funding cut is that they have far more control over how much they can charge, which is exactly what they wanted in the first place.

Of course, the old guard that graduated 30-40 years ago are all up in arms because they all got great jobs coming out of college and can't understand why the younger generation can't do the same. Must be laziness!
 
I graduated 7 years ago and they have never stopped charging me the student rate.

Everyone is forgetting the most important aspect of this.... Where is all of this disposal income coming from to be able to buy stuff through Amazon? If they raise tuition even more it should thin down the number of packages because students won't have disposable income anymore. :p


That and I thought college kids are supposed to be poor....

They're probably buying huge econo-packs of ramen.

Just because they're poor doesn't mean they don't need to buy things.

Mine too, but mostly for my wife's desire to never throw anything away because that box could be used to hold something in the future!

I seriously see me snapping one day and there will suddenly be 3 rooms with no clutter in it and lots of stuff in dumpsters (and me probably getting chewed out for doing it)

Yep. I'm sure the mailroom or Amazon could work out a deal to pay some student $$ to deliver packages. Kinda like the trial program, but on an even smaller scale.
 
Amazon needs a service where they pick up the old boxes when dropping off new stuff. I hate tossing out all that cardboard.
 
Oh NOEZ!!! The "non profit" college might have to do something C-R-A-Z-Y like hire some more students just past minimum wage to deliver some packages/mail. What TORTURE!
 
College students are pretty well off these days. I remember a couple friends needing to work 2 jobs and having hardly any extra money for luxuries. Times have changed.

Last Xmas time I had to go to the local Post Office parcels point to pick one up. When they opened the door into the sorting office I could see that around 95% of the parcels stacked up high were...Amazon parcels.
