If the price comes down - maybe. Plus depends on what Nvidia has out in SFF by that time as well. It's all about price / performance ratio I don't givafuq about brand loyalty.

I had high hopes for the Fury line but my decision was made based on price to performance.

I'd spend a little more and just get a Fury. Its the same size and the Fury is not defective like the nano is just a defective fury more than likely

This poll should help them know how many cards to make which is maybe 14 total.

It has all sorts of coil whine issues due too poor quality chokes.

Yeah I just saw a video made by Canucks Hardware and dang the coil whine is too much for a $649 GPU! I was an AMD guy but I think I will be going for a 980ti this time if money permits.

I realize now XFX gives lifetime warranty on Nanos but not Fury Xs.
Im sold on the Nano for that alone.

No need for a micro pc build right now. No need for a Nano.

Well i have to say no, not becouse of the price, that one is okey for its performance, in the niche it is aimed at, but when almost all review samples have a terribel coil whine, argh, makes me mad,

That is just........."lots of swearing"

Maybe is the answer which is not one of the choices.

Could be very fun making a custom very small size case. Meaning:
  • Time consuming
  • Expensive
  • Could fail
  • And by the time I am done - Obsolete

I do have a SFF case that fits full height, half length (have a 750Ti) GPU's. It is a pain in the ass to work on, you have to be very patience. It is uber quiet, can set it anywhere, doesn't heat up the living room or any room it is put inside of and looks great. The downside is that it is not really that powerful but does play older games great.

Two minds about this.

Interested? Yes.

But I avoid being the early adopter, no matter what consumer product it is. Heck, we are still finding about bad things in 900-series this far from the actual release. Probably not safe to buy anything before it´s gone through couple years of wringing these days.

Isn't this poll just proving AMD was correct on the "profiling"? :D

:D Yeap, HardOCP is just so performance orientated and damn the noise, heat, size, power etc. if it performs.

No real excitement about new options this will allow, performance ability, new cooling technology, Memory Tech etc. Most members I say just sprouted negative comments for something like this. Meaning it is not interesting for them is all. Which is fine and probably would be a waste of time for Kyle to review.

Its the same poll result you see on any forum, even AMD's own internal employee forum.

When even your own employees wouldn't touch your newest card, you may have missed the mark.

Amd completely had me sold but the price ended all that swiftly. If I wanted to spend $650 I would get a 980 ti.

Its fortunate they are reviewing it then since its a performance card.
Unlike most reviewers, they will be testing it in multiple environments it will be used in and will be compared to multiple cards.
How is that not what you want?

Do you really think they wont consider and report on noise, heat and power?
That is exactly what they will dig into.

This is just a poll to let Nvidia fanboys reiterate their bias.

What it is good for is it helps identify the real hypocrites among those fanboys, they latch onto one issue and blow it out of proportion. Take for example coil whine, let's see what google tells us about that issue on the other side of the fence:

980ti from ASUS, MSI, Gigabyte, EVGA, Zotac and many more all exhibiting coil whine. This includes reference and custom cooled overclocked models.

This one is particularly good. Guy ended up buying 10 yes 10 980s and all exhibited coil whine from EVGA/ASUS, had them watercooled which made the issue worse. He changed everything in his rig, new case, new psu, new mobo etc and the new 980tis once again exhibited coil whine. This is not some old video either, this is from just a few weeks ago.

So we can conclude from this that they are using poor quality chokes. Worst thing is that even the more expensive "military grade" or "high qualty" component cards exhibit coil whine. And that's just the first 2 pages of results and there are pages upon pages of more videos. I wonder where is the uproar about this issue? The answer to that question is one word, hypocrisy.

Its hardly hypocritical to worry about a real issue.
Are you saying it shouldnt be mentioned because it also occurs in other cards?

That's bullshit...at $650, high power consumption, lacking features, and questionable performance for the price point, the Nano is a product that doesn't even properly cater to its own intended market target.

And there are plenty of threads of folks going through RMA hell for coil whine exhibited by their nVidia cards.

Just because you hate nVidia doesn't mean your blind AMD fanboy-ism makes the Nano a winning product.

You should go tell those guys on the videos who spent just as much or even more money on trying to get their Nvidia coil whine resolved "That's bullshit" ;)

It's perfectly fine not wanting to buy a brand, just don't pretend the negative issues you attribute to one side to justify your bias don't happen in your side. That's pretty much the definition of hypocrite.

No, I think he is saying that most of the Nvidia trolls / fanboys pretend that Nvidia has no issues. Bias is still bias no matter where it is coming from. Besides, the only real reason most folks are not going to buy the Nano is price, nothing else.

The employees would have no problem because they are probably being given those cards at no cost anyways. The only real reason folks like me will not buy it is price and nothing else.

His post about hypocrisy was that itself.

Why spoon feed it to him lol, he's just gonna move the goalpost and/or put words I never said in my mouth.

Edit: Too late lol see he already did :)

Really? Sorry but, at least from my point of view, Nvidia fans are some of the worst I have seen around these parts. Hey, no biggie, it would be better if they just admit to it and stop trying to pretend it is not so. I know I prefer AMD products but that is just me and I have been using their cpu's since 2000 and their GPU's since the X800 Pro.

Hypocrisy is saying there is nothing wrong with the Nano at all which he did not do. In fact, the only real problem with the Nano is price, that is all. (Would have loved to crossfire 2 of them.)

Yeah the coil whine thing is kind of a double standard. It's the rampant coil whine that made me go with the 290x when I upgraded from my GTX670. Now the Nano has it so it's the worst card ever. LOL! It's overpriced yes and a niche product that I'm not ever gonna buy but then again so is the Titan so.....

Is building a video card that doesn't coil whine difficult? I don't understand why this is getting worse. Companies using cheaper parts or is the complexity increasing the chance of coil whine?

Or are our PSU's getting older?

Had terrible whine on my 980ti using a 5 year old Corsair TX850. Swapped the psu with a new evga 1000w and my whine disappeared.

Coil whine on a SFF system is probably more important not to have.

Which is more of a niche?
  • 4K for gaming?
  • $1000 video cards
  • Dual+ video cards?
  • 3+ monitors for gaming?
  • Combination of two above?

Well built SFF systems would probably out number all of the above, performance SFF systems is relatively new in the scheme of things. Meaning potential market.

Looking at cases I as yet found one that I would consider good for a SFF and a powerful system. Of course there are the miniITX cases that houses full size cards, ATX power supplies etc. except are they really SFF? lol

If the cards had been the right price, I was ready to buy two for crossfire in my full ATX system.

I just don't see the market for these SFF systems. Are people really that space limited? I mean even a full tower doesn't take up that much space. The only thing I can see is portability, but I don't think many of us are moving our $1500+ systems around very often, and for those that do isn't a laptop more useful? Mainly for the built in screen.

They sure are cool though!

Nope. Seriously considered it for my mini itx build but after all this crap from AMD, I'll stick with the 970.

My comment "that's bullshit" was in response to your comment about the poll. I absolutely agree that everyone that has gone/is going through RMA hell for their nVidia cards are putting up with a lot of bullshit that they absolutely shouldn't have...especially at the price points this generation of GPUs are at.

In fairness there's a cuteness factor to doing a SFF build. When you've been building tower cases for ages, one day you decide to see how small you can go and how much power you can pack in how little a space. It's just a fun project. And then there are those with limited space for a specific usage scenario, let's say a space in a home entertainment center rack.

The problem for Nano besides price though is most nice looking miniITX cases accommodate larger cards. In other words it's a solution to a problem I'm not sure really exists.

I'm not gonna deny though that the Nano with the full coverage waterblock seen in another thread looked sexy as hell. I like smaller and single slot personally. I hope they find a way to be able to produce these cards cheaper.

I have gone through 6 Titan X's and 4 980 Ti's, all reference designs. And none of them have had coil whine at even overclocked settings. Most of the reviewers didn't mention any coil whine issue with the 980 Ti's nor did majority of the NV crowd who actually own the card. Please go through all the [H] threads and find the ratio of the people who received a card with coil whine. You'll find that it was infact non-OEM versions that mostly exhibited the problem.

But alas here is AMD's OEM / reference version that is having issues. Isn't that a bad indicator in itself

Is there a market for 3 monitor gaming systems? $1000 GPUs which some have bought more than one (up to four and even more). A SFF gaming system? hmmm Xbox 1, PS4, Steam Machine? I think there is a market but a market to support $640 GPU's SFF - I really don't know.

Ofcourse there is a market for SFF, many of us nerds are getting old, like me and Kylie, (well he still kling to as big as they get), but performance is one thing, but not all, style, looks of the case, allso known as WAF, is darn importent, money isnt so much. And yes, laptops are SFF, so SFF as it gets, but put in some real beefy gpus, and a good cpu, there is no way you can get it silent.

Many accept HTPC cases, but they cant be so deep, and silence is a BIG thing. Coil whine IS not accepted. In HTPC cases at least thouse that are round 12-15 cm tall, you have room to cool it quite silent, so TDP is importent, becouse the lower the tdp, the easier to cool it silent.

There is a reason why there are firms like Artic Cooling and so on, specialising in silent cooling, becouse there is a market for it.

I voted no.

If I wanted to build an SFF system, it would be as a HTPC, it's wrongly specced for such a purpose (lack of HDMI 2.0 and movie playback doesn't need the power of Nano).

For gaming purposes, I would simply use a normal computer hooked up to a TV. If I wanted it like a living room, I'd make my bedroom into one, rather than bring it to an actual living room (less competition for TV).
