1080p OLED vs 4K...which would you buy TODAY

I have not (yet) seen a side-by-side comparison...will check it out later hopefully at the store but wanted some opinions first.

The TV will be mainly used for watching sports and general TV. We don't watch much movies...maybe once every other month. Also a PS4 will be hooked up. Viewing distance will be about 7-10 ft. Looking at 55' - 60'

I know 4K content isn't widely out by any means, but are the upscaling capabilities of some of the TVs that good that it's worth investing in one or just go with great OLED picture quality for a few years until 4K is more mainstream? Thanks.

For me, it's no contest. . . 1080p looking better than ever on OLED is better than 4K content on LCD tech. And the 55" OLED from LG is now affordable for those already in the premium TV market.

I've seen the 55" LG OLED as well as 65" 4K OLED. They are everything they're cracked up to be.

Especially at 55" and 10' viewing distance, you're not going to miss 4K. But if you're a discerning viewer, you'd miss the advantages of OLED (infinite contrast, black levels, etc.).

This is true. At 1080p, the only option is curved. If I were single and looking for a home theater solution where I would be sitting in the "sweet spot" most of the time, curved wouldn't bother me. But with kids and family, flat makes more sense.

There will be a 65" flat 4K version (if there isn't already). But the price of 65" OLEDs are prohibitively expensive (I think it's at $7k right now).

For 1080p, 55" and curved is the only OLED option.

I'd still take curvied, 55", and 1080p OLED over any LCD tech though.

Curved is nice for a monitor, but not for TV, IMO. I'm using a Sammy 4K curved with my PC. Absolutely love it. I tried a 48" curved for my TV and didn't like it at all.
