This new Forza commercial suggests that it is the racing title that everyone has been waiting for since the genre’s early beginnings. Can you name all of the old racers referenced?

Even though I no longer own a XBox One, and really want to play Forza, I was seriously getting into the music. :D

hmm so apparently this comes out in like a 1.5 weeks -- i havent turned my xbox one on in 6+ months, but might want to get this... love the Forza series.

I'm really looking to playing this on Thursday. Preordered the ultimate edition a while back.

I'm looking forward to Forza Motorsport 6. I'm also in for the Ultimate edition with early access.

Forza games are probably my favorite games on the Xbox One.

Definitely references to Pole Position and Ridger Racer.

This game wasn't even on my radar, but I may pick this up. Last one I really played through was Forza 3. Was burned out of it by the time Forza 4 came out and never played it much.

I am not even into this game that much but that looks fantastic. :D BIG THUMBS UP!

Awesome. The demo is pretty bad ass. I am picking this up. I love Forza Horizon 2. This one seems to be pretty great, too. The rain and water on the track is pretty realistic (good luck if you get in the grass!).

Indy car race (a challenge) was FUN as fuck. Just hauling ass through the track passing people and lapped most of them.

If they added those classics with the same blocky visual flair that would be super awesome! The game looks great even though I don't have an XBONE.

I'm more curious how the physics will compare to iRacing myself.

They won't. While Forza has stunning graphics, Forza and GT are sim-cades at BEST. iRacing measures components of cars and adds the weight where they sit in the car to model the handling. Forza and GT just say "this car weighs x,xxxlbs.

Forza and GT can be good fun, and they are absolutely stunning looking. But, they're sim-cades.

I am so busy that it pains me to think that I will not have time to play this until December. Forza has pretty much become the best racing series ever.

That Minecraft look is really picking up

OutRun

Cant remember the name of the 1st game

There is a demo that can be downloaded if you want to try it out. I pre-ordered it a month or so ago and played through the demo this past weekend and I am more excited for it now that I was when I pre-ordered it.

that being said, I wish there was a "sim-cade" with stunning graphics, the car selection, customability, and track selection of forza/GT for PC. Seems like there are only arcade style racers with either completely fake cars or real cars with goofy ass physics (and NITROUS THROUGH THE TURN TO WIN!), or hardcore sims. I want the in between that is Forza/GT on PC.

Have you tried Project Cars or Assetto Corsa? Both have enough difficulty customization that you should be able to get them playing similar to Forza/GT. Neither have the robust selection of cars and tracks, or as fulfilling of a career mode, but the racing is still fun.

I will check them out. Filling my dream garage is half the fun though!

You definitely won't get that from either game. Neither really has a garage. In Pcars you join a team, race their car for a few races, get new team offers, rinse, repeat. Sadly, the control over what car your racing is very limited. Really, same goes for Assetto, the career consists of events with a pre-determined car. You get a little more control over what events you chose, but that's it. Both games have non-career modes where you can control all aspects, car, tract, etc, but that's the closet you will get. Neither game has currency. There is no buying and upgrading cars. If that's an integral part of what you want, you won't find it here. Once you get on the track though, you can tweak them to feel right a home if Forza/GT is your comfort level.

Is this yet another "sim" racer that completely and utterly ignores collision and actual realistic damage modeling of their vehicles and has them "bump" off like bumper cars and other absurd things?

Why can't we have a realistic sim that doesn't just ignore that aspect of racing?

Going by the demo, they updated a lot of aspects of the physics engine to be more realistic. One of the things that caught me off guard was the more realistic handling of vehicle-to-vehicle collisions. You now have to be very careful about touching or being touched by other cars. As to damage modeling, I don't know. I always turn off damage in Forza because of the stupidly aggressive drivatars. Thankfully there is the option to turn the aggressiveness profile of the drivatars off in Forza 6 so I may try out the damage again. But frankly, damage is not important to me in any type of driving game.
