Diablo 3 Discussion Thread

i just recently picked up the expansion and started playing again.... unfortunately all my knowledge on the game has gone out the window...

http://us.battle.net/d3/en/profile/tyte-1590/hero/65970366 is what i have so far....

any tips for a newbie witch doctor? ... i used to run wizard... but the game has changed so much... the last time i played before this was when the auction house was still around....

I crafted back to back ones last night and almost shit myself. I've crafted a bunch and those are the first I've seen as well. I actually had someone randomly whisper me last night asking if I wanted to help his friend with ubers. I guess I played a random rift/grift with him because hes not in my clan and I didn't recognize the name. I ended up getting enough materials for 5 more hellfires though which was nice.

Heres my DH so far:

Not perfect but not bad. I picked up an ancient yang last night so I gotta figure out what to roll on that when I get home. I don't remember if it had discipline on it or not. If it does I can reroll the fire damage higher and it will be god tier.

This is mine, http://us.battle.net/d3/en/profile/Zepher-1253/hero/66055096 she would probably be a lot better if I started her right away on Friday. She is only 3 days old.

Finally got lucky on a gamble and got the 2nd set piece for Arachyrs set. I now have the helmet and chest pieces.

With the addition of the spider queen from the set bonus and the 3 +int gems slotted into the chest piece my TTK, which was on the slow side, has been more than cut in half meaning that I'm blowing through rifts now.

Helltooth 6 pc bonus makes for a really fun build on the WD. I don't have a really well rolled set and I blew through a lvl 40 solo GR last night... :D

All the chars are only a week at this point, and the highest gRift on the leaderboards is 67. It's all about play time and knowledge of the game. A little luck with drops helps as well. I'm fully geared at this point and pushing gRift 60. Hoping to actually make it on the board this season (not like in the top ten, but even the top 1k).

Was fun last night Zeph. I did feel kinda bad seeing you die all over the place :p:D DH and Saders just didn't get much love this patch compared to WD/Monks/Barbs ;)

Most likely will be grinding more 45-50s tonight and carrying people who need it. Only thing I ask is if you are a WD and don't need HT gear I could use it on my WD :D

are you talking about the Greater Rift Level when you say 45-50? What torment level is that? Is it like Torment 8?

I was getting kinda frustrated not being able to do any real damage to anything.
All I could do was help you guys a little by slowing them with my sentry, vaulting and stunning them, and calling companion for the group damage boost.
I am only hitting up to 400 million and when you have little minions with 20 billion health, that 400 million doesn't do squat.

I do appreciate being carried as I was able to get a bunch of Paragon levels and get my gems up to 40 for the achievement.

Boots and helm should have Multishot % damage (assuming this character isn't hardcore).

My NS DH is geared like total glass cannon, haven't found any need for any toughness at all. My WD will most likely be geared as such as well.

Also, your Vault should be Tumble. Trail of Cinders is for those with Cindercoat cubed, cindercoat with Trail of Cinders is cheaper than Tumble with Vault, but without cubed coat, Tumble would be better.

Also, I'd probably try cubing Obsidian Ring, Wear UE helm and have Vengeance/Seeth on macro keybound for Hatred management.

She has Cinder cubed, I was using that glove with a group that was doing higher grifts and I wasn't doing any damage at all, so I was just trying to keep from dying.

My S3 DH is geared ok with MS+ on the helm, boots, and quiver.
I kept running out of souls re-rolling stuff so I am stockpiling souls now and will eventually re-roll for MS+ damage on the other items.

That's my problem, playing with WildAce at the moment, he does all the damage and I'm just grabbing legs. One day I can provide proper assistance

What's the easiest, and safest class to complete grift 40 with no set bonuses? (I'm playing HC here, so dying is not allowed). I'm going after the portrait right now.

I lost my DH in full Unhallowed Essence :\ (some of it ancient with near perfect rolls)

Ouch. I can't bring myself to play hardcore, especially this season where all the time I walk into a rift and there's an elite/champ sitting on my head. I wouldn't be able to deal with that killing me and losing my character.

Yesterday was good to me. After 10k+ shards I finally got a cinder coat and was able to cube a calamity. Now really all I need for my DH is better gear but I'm pretty happy with how she sits now. I can solo a 4 man t8 rift with my eyes closed an I did a GR51 somewhere around 10:30 which is by far the highest I've ever gotten.

I did roll a barb and got him up to 70. I want to do a wastes whirlwind build but ended up with a full raekor set. Right now I'm just farming shards on my DH and gambling them with my barb. Hopefully Kadala will be nice to me.

I'm making an HC character to get to 70 just for the achievement. If someone can help me just rush it, that would be appreciated.

That's why it's fun. It's nice being able to get on the leaderboards where you've only completed a grift in the 20's - 30's, where even hitting 60 will place you in the top 10. My season 3 softcore wizard, who's weaker than my current wizard, was farming 40-50ish grifts, whereas I'm hesitant to even get to 40 as there are so many things that can one shot me if I get unlucky, particularly at the entrance.

Though, I now have a full set of leveling gear I built with the gem of ease. It's nice having 2 billion toughness with 400 million recovery at level 1. Unfortunately, it's not set specific, as I share it between characters, so getting to level 50 takes like 5 minutes, but then I just don't have the dps to stay t6, even though I do have the survivability.

I can help you late tonight if no one else has. I'm in the HOCP clan channel all the time.

The only thing I wish was that the seasonal journeys would differentiate between HC and SC.

It does for certain things. Conquests are different. The journey for the final one also makes distinctions making it necessary to have an HC character to complete it (which is what I'm doing).

Somehow have to figure out how to finish a T10 Rift in 3 minutes too. Never seem to find dense enough packs to manage that.

If it's not a Fields of Misery Map, or the Briarnthorn Cemetery Map, it's not even worth going for 3 minutes. There are other maps that seem worthy, such as the dungeon map (the one that has the Warden), but you'll want an open map, and not something which has objects which can obstruct you. Also, having a group of multiple people can make it easier.

Started playing again with the start of the fourth season. Man, things have changed a lot. The game feels much more enjoyable now. I'm using Dark3D (darker/grittier) though as I just can't get used of the cartoony graphics.

Started a Witch Doctor in season 4, and it's the most fun class I've played yet.

I wanted to ask if someone could give me some advice. I'm can complete Torment IV (Greater) Rifts (I can only do this due to the Restraint/Focus ring set) but I'm not sure what the next step should be for farming Legendaries/Gems.

- I haven't found a good replacement for shoulders/gloves yet.
- I want to replace the Bracers, but I like its ability too much. I'll try to extract it with Kanai's Cube.

Depends on what set you want to go after.

There is the Carnevil build which isn't great for speed running but pretty good for Grifts.

Zombie Bear Helltooth is also pretty good, especially considering the weapon (Scrimshaw) is really easy to make (there are only 2 spears on smartloot list for WD's).

Arachyr if like playing with animals (the set is oriented towards living animal spells like toads, hex, piranha, locusts etc).

Then there is the Manajuma set, which basically involves you running, literally, around like a chicken and blowing stuff up. It is often combined with helltooth for farming DB's for its movement speed, and I am currently going to try Arachyr's with Manajuma for the bounty farming (as my clan mate puts it, a nuclear chicken).

I kind of started playing this again. Not quite as zealously, but playing nonetheless. I like the new DH build, though unfortunately I keep running out of mats before I can even craft/cube an ancient Yang's. It seems like the game would prefer I get like:
- 3-4 Kridershots (one of which was Ancient)
- 3 Uskangs (1 Ancient)
- Etrayus everywhere (2 ancient)
- Several ancient... whatever that wing looking one is.
- Chicken bows everywhere.
- That's not it but ending the list there
... Before I can get an ancient Yang's. Supposedly they're not even that rare, but hell yeah let's pump out those Kridershots before I even get one normal Yang's. The build is still fairly alright without an ancient yang's though. I am missing a lot of damage, but it works. I do quite fine in T10 and speed grifts.

At least I managed to craft an ancient DoD for my WD. The darts build feels a little weird though, and I'm not sure how high I can take it. I've also obtained all of the pieces for the barb HoTA set, though the weapon isn't ancient. I'm not sure how the heck people stay alive with that build though. I was in a 55 with it, and I died quite quickly. I'm not exactly skimping out on the survivability, either (the cubes are wrong, it should be strongarms and CoE):
http://us.battle.net/d3/en/profile/StoleOwnCar-1814/hero/41409454

Speaking of that WD chicken build, I also crafted an ancient set dagger for it. I don't have Helltooth pieces, though. Those were like first priority throwaways.

I dunno this patch has me feeling... mixed feelings. With a proper squad, in the last patch my slowball DH could pretty much speed run 60+ grifts anyway. Now I can just speedrun 50-60-ish because of the new CC changes. Maybe 60+ with a good crew with more than usual CC. It feels like the only classes that benefited from that stupid change were the ones that didn't have to worry about dying, so that just shifts the favor back towards tanky melee. That seems to be quite evident on the leaderboards as well. At the very least, slowball DH feels almost impossible to play, despite being so powerful now (I have a 3.35k Uskang, and I hit really hard, especially with CoE up). Like it does the damage, but it can't stay alive worth a crap. Multishot fares better because of immediacy and better ability to kite (very long range and very little need to aim, too). Slowball needs to stay still otherwise DPS goes down too far, though the damage compared to multishot is likely superior.

Current 4p record is 62... which I literally set right after I started playing again and never really tried to get higher.

Thank you for your detailed reply. I appreciate it. :)

It seems the game has made the decision for me. I got a Helltooth and Jade set piece from Kadala. I can't use the Helltooth shoulder yet as it is a bit of a downgrade on its own, but if/when I can get a second piece I'll definitely try it out.

The Jade gloves from Kadala makes a pretty big difference. The additional damage the 2-set bonus gives is very nice.

Just wanted to shout out a big thanks to Ronjon for helping me level my friend up yesterday. My friend hasn't really played D3 at all, so he never had a character above 60 so I couldn't have him make a max difficulty game that I could join and power him through. We were slugging along in T2 and Ronjon came along and ploughed us through T6 instead and my friend was 70 in no time! :)

Yeah you can level from 1 to 70 with 3 rifts on T6, its pretty quick that way.

For whatever reason, I now experience the dreaded AMD driver crash in desolate sands and various Act V zones.../sigh It is pretty annoying since after researching it has been around for years and still not resolved. I started having it after this last update when I started playing the new season. Weird.

Did ubers for the first time last night and wrecked them all on T6 with my archon wiz. What I didn't know was that the other bosses that uber diablo summons would stick around after he died. Okay, no big deal, only Magda was left. But what's this? A ton of frozen bombs on the ground hidden by the giant corpse of the Siege Breaker? Fuck. Dumb way to die lol.

On an unrelated note: I found 2 Rimehearts in like 15 minutes last night.

Yesterday was a good day for my new barb. I crafted this bad boy:

wTD3WWZ.png

I've rerolled it about 300 times to get the perfect 100% but it wont give it to me. I keep running out of Death's Breaths. I need to change up my skills and get my gems higher now. Some ancient gear wouldn't hurt either.

found this good looking staff and gave it to my enchantress to play with,
d3-enchantress.jpg

is this staff desirable for the WD class or is it just a high DPS crappy weapon?

The best WD builds are using SuWong Diviner or the Zombie Charger spear, the first being better. So no, that staff isn't really useful right now.

I am thinking of making a WD just to do some of the conquests as my DH is struggling with grifts over 45.
I can't kill fast enough to solo that high.
and one of the conquests is to solo a 40 with no set items, so I put on some decent gear and tried and it was like I was shooting toothpicks at the enemy, so there is no way I can do that conquest with my DH.

Yeah I haven't attempted this yet and have no idea how to go about it. Luckily I was able to do a random 4 man GR60 which gave me one conquest for destroyer. I'm kinda hoping that having high paragon points will help a lot so I can get the last two.

How do you survive as a WD in higher level grifts? While my WD has far superior dps to every other class that I have, I start to notice I take massive damage above grift 25. Unfortunately, as I play HC, I don't want to be one shot going into a 40.

What are you using in the cube? I'm don't have high-grift WD experience but you could try the Uhkapian Serpent mojo to reduce damage.
