Divinity: Original Sin

the first part of it was really difficult for me, especially on the harder difficulty, but it doesn't scale well, it gets easier once you leave the starting area. Unless theres a difficulty patch that i didnt hear about

Yeah, that seems about right. This first area is pretty difficult. I've killed pretty much everything around my level, and I'm now slowly working my way through the harder areas with lvl 8 enemies (and I just barely hit lvl 6). Seems like the difficulty just ramps up too quickly at the beginning, with not enough mobs around your level. Plus, enemies don't respawn so you can't grind on lower level mobs if you need to. Divinity II had the exact same issue.

Pretty sure they intended you to do lots of exploring / conversation quests in Cyseal

Divinity: Original Sin overhauled for PS4 and Xbox One...Enhanced Edition will be a free new game for PC owners

everything from the graphics to story to the ending have been changed...there are significant technical changes courtesy of the arrival of DirectX 11, and most of the visual effects have been redone...and the camera now rotates 360 degrees...as a result, It will be a separate game to exist alongside the current one as the two games are incompatible...saves, then, won't carry across...the Enhanced Edition's minimum system requirements have also been upped

the game's story has been tightened up around its flabby middle and the ending given serious attention, with lots of new locations and quests tying into it...all of the game's encounters have been redone...

Hello Everyone!
Today we are very excited to announce Divinity: Original Sin Enhanced Edition for PS4 and Xbox One as well as PC, Mac, SteamOS and Linux. This isn't just some patch or minor content update to the game you all know and (hopefully) love; it's a whole new experience! With controller support, local co-op with split screen, fully voiced characters, a totally reworked story (with a brand new ending), and much more, we're very proud to finally be able to share what we've crafted here at Larian.

In the update video below, Swen reveals a little more about the fantastic new features you can look forward to in Divinity: Original Sin Enhanced Edition.

We've also included controller support on PC, so now you can kick back and explore Rivellon from the comfort of your sofa with Steam's Big Picture. We've put a lot of effort into streamlining the experience and have designed a slick, new UI that makes playing with a controller just as intuitive and fun as playing with mouse and keyboard.

As well as local co-op, split screen and controller support, the Enhanced Edition also features:

All characters are now fully voiced by AAA-voice actors
New quests, new characters, and new content
Entirely new gameplay modes and character builds
A heavily rewritten story with a brand new ending
Massively reworked visuals and sound effects
And much more to be announced in the coming months!
A Gift For Our Fans

In appreciation of all the fans who helped make Divinity: Original Sin the success that it was, the Enhanced Edition will be completely free to everyone who owns Original Sin. This is a reflection of our immense gratitude to all of you. We deeply appreciate your support, and the feedback we received from you helped us create and polish this game into something that we're extremely proud of.

A Whole New Game

Divinity: Original Sin Enhanced Edition is a completely separate game: not an update to Divinity: Original Sin. Both games will remain available on PC and Mac, and it is important to note that they are totally different entities, so if you've already bought Original Sin you'll see separate listings for Divinity: Original Sin and Divinity: Original Sin Enhanced Edition in your Steam Library. This means that saved games can't be transferred from Divinity: Original Sin to the Enhanced Edition. This is largely because of the technical changes we've made to how the game looks and feels, but the story has also been rewritten so heavily that most saved games would no longer be compatible with the plot. (After all, it wouldn't make sense to load a game in which you're halfway through a quest line that's been replaced with something different.)

From the very first day of production, we designed the Enhanced Edition to be optimized for DirectX 11 graphics. For our Windows players, this means that Divinity: Original Sin Enhanced Edition will require a 64-bit system and a graphics card with DirectX 11 hardware support. However, both editions of the game will remain available to everyone on Steam, so Windows players with 32-bit systems and DirectX 9 will always be able to play Divinity: Original Sin.

When Can We Play?

As Swen says: "When? When it's ready!" We are committed to giving you the best possible experience and we will not compromise on quality, so it's going to take as long as it'll take. But watch this space, the release date is coming soon!

Are You Ready For E3?

We are! At E3 we'll be sharing much more about Divinity: Original Sin Enhanced Edition's features and gameplay, including the much-anticipated new modes of play.

More background?

Then check out Swen’s blog. He talks about how we came to make the Enhanced Edition and why it’s such an important part of our future plans. In the mean time, if you want more about what we're up to, check out our forums, and follow us on Twitter, Facebook or YouTube.

My favorite feature is the addition of split screen co-op on the same machine. That is absolutely fantastic.

The 2 games will have vastly different endings also according to the video on the Kickstarter page.

This is great news.

I have been recently getting ready to get into this via my backlog. I had purchased it not too long ago thanks to a nice Steam sale via the tons of glowing feedback about it here and abroad.

It really is a great game. Felt very refreshing compared to a lot of the other "AAA" stuff that has come out lately.

I bought this game close to release for close to full price with every intention of playing it. But alas, it remained untouched in my library for the past half year. With the school year ending, I finally decided to fire it up the other night and just create a character. It took me 6 minutes to lose my entire party, but it played great.

Now hearing about this Enhanced Edition makes me want to wait until that comes out. But then, it could be another half year.

Sounds exciting. As much as I love the combat system in this game, I eventually gave up cause the story and lore was such a snorefest. Hopefully it'll be better this time around.

I agree. The writing and story was a little meh. Hoping they spice it up again.

But the main reason i quit playing was the difficulty dropped off.

Anyway, here's hoping they fix up the trait system

Still no day/night cycle on the Enhanced Edition?

That's a real shame....

I started to cheat in this game I was sick of trying to XP with quests so I adjusted the settings to EZ mode which to me seems more like how Normal mode should be you can still loose a fight if you are under leveled but I got so sick of going nowhere in the game where I should be leveling I got most of my characters to level 4 now I guess there is a cave next to the hell hounds and archers where I'm suppose to go but I can't beat the archers and hounds =) So I'm killing anything that is my level or lower...

I kinda like how fluid this game is I also have Pillars of Eternity but this game is just as good maybe graphically better then Pillars of Eternity. I wish the combat in Pillars of Eternity was slower and more like Balders Gate combat. I don't use auto pause just manually do it.

Yeah, there's a very steep curve at the beginning of the game, but it really flattens out later on. Those first few levels can be brutal though.

I'm having a Hard time on easy mode then again my characters are level 12 and I'm trying to take down level 14 guys I killed that elemental king last night got into the troll cave with the scroll got my butt kicked. Game really sucks you in big time =) I'm sick of quest I mean one quest can span the entire game so I gave up on quest and trying to just play though it now just to finish it I got like 60 hours in but a lot of the time was I bet 3-4 hour just messing around with inventory.

If your average person didn't know how the game functions I went online to get helps I mean LOTS.
There you will be stuck on something you might not figure it out in your lifetime it's that hard some of the puzzles it's that hard. The game is designed to get you stuck on something and no longer progress that is the way I see it and it's works because the reward center brain of the player has to work out harder to figure out the secrets.

If you check out the Steam global achievements only 6% of the people who played the game on steam finished the game =)

The is about as Hard Core of a RPG you can get it's on par with the Baldur's Gate series.

Odd - I didn't find it that hard (and I did finish the game). Kind of long and such but not so hard. I'll play again when the EE version is out.

I lost interest in my playthrough because I had set the difficulty on Normal, and that was a mistake. Ended up not being any challenge at all. I re-rolled on the hardest difficulty but soon after grew tired of the trait mechanic.

What is weird about this is that I typically have issues with difficulty in most games, (avid gamer that sucks at most games I guess), but in this game, I had no issues, not even on hard and I really enjoyed the game. I can't wait for more actually. I have done a few play throughs with different characters and setups.

I just lost interest. Got to the source Temple, saved, never went back to finish. Enjoyed the combat but the loot bored me. Just felt like I was never getting anything worthwhile for my effort, even after loading loot mods with higher drop rates and new items.

I had lots of fun playing coop with a buddy. We each controlled 2 characters the whole time.
Although we did argue alot when the spell he decided to cast either:
A. Cancelled out my already active spell effect.
B. Didnt pay enough attention and nailed my guys with a spell, especially annoying when it caused me to skip turns due to be frozen or shocked.

Always wanted to try it coop. But sadly my coop partner moved away. Maybe one day if I ever make a little chockomonkey I'll get to try it ^_^

I'm so glad I saw this thread. I'm loving this game so far and I thought I never would. About 20 hours in.

I haven't yet started, but this is exactly what bothers me about modern RPGs. In older ones (like the Ultima series for example) you got loot from enemies, but it was just the basics. Things you needed to keep going. Money, reagents, spells, etc. Then the REALLY good weapons were story/plot/legend/lore based. You'd read about some famed weapon in a book, or on a scroll somewhere, and follow clues to finding it. You'd actually go on a real quest to find some of these things. You could also happen on the accidentally, and later piece together what they were. It was really cool to have to go out and find this stuff. It made it a worthwhile discovery, goal of a quest. Some of the secret ones, like the Hoe of Destruction were really fun to figure out.

I still need to start this game, (bought it a while back) but I was hoping some of the "This is a lot like Ultima VII" things I've read were true.

Lewt is awesome in this game after you beat a major bunch of baddies.
Some of the lewt you need in order to progress in the game.

Just keep buying scrolls keep going back to the vendor in the market and they respawn.
