Legion is the next World of Warcraft expansion! Demon Hunter Hero Class
http://www.mmo-champion.com/content/5071-Legion-is-the-next-World-of-Warcraft-expansion!

It's official, the next World of Warcraft expansion will be World of Warcraft - Legion! Stay tuned for more updates!

The official Legion site is online!

Main Features;

New Hero Class - Demon Hunter!
New Continent - The Broken Isles
Artifact Weapons
Class Order Halls
Adventure to Level 110
New Dungeons and Raids
New Honor System

- The Broken Isles was a vast Night Elf civilization, we now have the bones of that civilization. The entire continent is a graveyard of sorts. It has the tomb of Sargeras, a gateway to endless Legion worlds.
- A giant demonic invasion is currently underway. The biggest one ever!
- We are taking the fight to Gul'dan, fighting at the tomb of Sargeras, then the story begins. This will take place before the expansion launches. It is like the story leading up to Warlords with the Dark Portal, but better.
- Everyone who has played WoW is going to be shocked.
- Ashbringer and Doomhammer weapons are coming as Artifact weapons, as well others.
- We are here to restore peace to the world by forming or renewing class orders, like the Silver Hand.

soo.... i feel this might be one of the final big expansions... Titans, saragas, ect ect. Only thing next would be old gods.

Class Orders;

Alliance and Horde are fighting, but classes can band together to fight this threat.
There will be a heavy focus on class identity.
You lead the Class Order.
Order Halls are a base of operations for your class. You share them with other players of your class. Only members of your class can enter this area, similar to the Death Knight starting area.
Halls will be located in thematically appropriate areas.
Shamans in a cave near the Maelstrom.
Paladins will be under Light's Hope Chapel.
Warlocks will be on a Legion Portal World.
You get special quests and work on your Artifact weapon here.
Your Hall has Champions, an evolution of the followers. This time around you aren't raising an army, but a small group. Some will be established characters. There will be more integration with the world. They won't do things instead of you, but help you to accomplish things. They discover an area for you to investigate. You work alongside them and with them rather than sending them out on missions.

Has there been any discussion on possible release timeframe ? Is this coming soon, or still a year away for a Fall 2016 release ?

I would love to see it released around the Warcraft movie due this Spring.

You're neglecting the fact that Blizzard has total creative control over the world it's set in. Because of this the mythos expands any time they need it to. They're not limited by existing ideas, if they need 6 more expansions you'll find the guys they claimed were the ultimate evils were actually pawns of even bigger guys. Maybe behind it all there were... Ancient aliens! No seriously, if they keep going that's where they're going to end up.

I totally thought Cataclysm would be the last expansion, but as long as the money keeps rolling in...

Demon Hunter;

- Horns come with different styles, types, no horns is an option.
- Tattoos are another feature with variations.
- Skins can be normal, scaly, different colors.
- Eye coverings
- Hero Class - unique starting experience and start at a high level.
- Awaken in the Vault of the Wardens, awoken to fight the Legion.
- See the past, Illidan sends you on a mission to another world.
- Demon Hunter specs - Havok (DPS Spec) and Vengeance (Tank Spec). Only two specs. Demon Hunter healer didn't make sense. Two DPS or Tank specs would water down the identity of the class.
- Skills can cost Fury or generate Fury.
- Spectral Sight - Allows you to see through walls

12 month dry spell? sounds like it

Ugh  And that's what killed WoW for me. It really pissed me off at the end of Cat, there was like 10 months of nothing new at all until MoP. And then even worse at the end of MoP last patch to WoD, I believe it was like 13 months or something crazy. :(

I cancelled my subscription a couple months after WoD release. I just wasn't digging the new expansion, and hated Garrisons. And the game has become way too grindy to me. Even questing to Level 100 from 90, felt like one huge grind and very boring. And then at 100 running Dungeons felt like another major boring grind again. I just couldn't keep doing it.

"we will see you at beta later this year" I was hoping for beta like.... next month or something... They already lost 1/2 there subs.

If you look back to the old lore you would see there isn't much left. Sargeras was essentially the boss of Azeroth an original Titan who helped shape the world and was the ruler of the Burning Legion which was the largest Demon army in Warcraft that has persisted through generations of this game. Aside from that we are finally visiting the Emerald Dream which has been around since WOW Beta but was never fully shown outside of exploits. Once that storyline is taken care of there really isn't much left. Most of this stuff new and casual players wouldn't know unless they read into WOW's lore or enjoyed the original strategy games.

Blizzard is giving veteran WOW players one last fan service before their next big MMO title.

Once i saw Illidan I knew. The burning legion, tomb of sargaras, south islands, eye of azura, elmerald dream... I agree this is the big finisher.

Hmm. Ok. I might cave and come back. This is the MEAT of the game, finally.

Blizz canceled Titan already, which was their next gen MMO in development. I hope to god that Blizzard is making something like World of Diablo or World of Startcraft, or heck even WoW 2, with an all new game engine and better AI / quests.

Do you really think Blizz has a next gen MMO currently in development ?

They have always said they do not see an end in the near future, but with the various story arcs at play it feels like they are trying to tie up as many loose ends as they can. It isn't stated that we will actually face off against Sargeras (yes he's dead but how dead is dead in the Warcraft universe?), so he could play a part in the end of the expansion, or we could be trying to stop him from being resurrected and ultimately fail and that becomes the seed for the following expansion. Hopefully not the latter because then we go from "ugh, another orc raid" to "ugh, another legion raid".

The idea of this expansion interests me, especially the part where we will have "followers" that don't do work for us, just help us find stuff to go do. The artifact weapons feels like the next iteration of the "everybody legendary" but with some more depth to it. The biggest problem with the whole thing is beta starting "later this year". This will probably be around Blizzcon timeframe, at which point this patch is already 4 1/2 months old, and everyone knows WoW beta is usually many months long, so we are STILL going to see a huge gap between 6.2 and 7.0. For those that haven't been keeping track, the past 3 expansions have gone like this:

WotLK patch 3.3 - Cata launch -> 12 months with only Ruby Sanctum as new content
Cata patch 4.3 - MoP launch -> 9 months with no additional content
MoP patch 5.4 - WoD launch -> 13 months with no additional content

This time I am not holding out any hope that we will see the new expansion in early 2016. I would be surprised if it was at all close to 6-7 months after HFC started.

I didnt buy WoD until 3-4 months after release... This one im preordering the collectors edition on lol. About time a expansion looks good since WotLK

I would guess the release will be Q1 2016 with beta late this year. Blizz won't dick around this time. Their sub base is lower than it's been since Vanilla, so they need a shot in the arm.

Ive been wanting to find something for a while...what are the best sources of getting all the lore? Like top to bottom with the main characters from WC1 and on through wow?

the massive ban hammer that went down from botting/farming old instances for mounts. Never screwed the economy or bg's that hurt other players experiences. They told me that botting mounts was ruining the prestige of other players. lol

Looks good, but I will hold my excitement until I see what features actually make it in. They always cut something. Then, it remains to be seen if they learned from the horrible mistakes of WoD. If this will be another "raid, or don't bother logging in" expansion, my wallet will remain closed.

Youtube man, There are videos that are anywhere from 5 min long to hours long going in depth about the lore. I've been watching alot the past year or 2 and really excited about the expansions

eff them

I still never got my phoenix mount from kaelthas, I quit wow in 2010, but I'm still bitter I never saw it drop.

Now you can solo that instance, and if I do jump back in I intend to do so. I don't need a bot though, ill just walk in with my no gear high level mage and say to them all.

I wield the power cosmic, yield now or die, and they will die.

I quit after Cata and came back this year on a new account. Got the battlechest first with MoP and then got WoD in Feb. I play for a month and then stop for a month and repeat. Got enough gold to buy at least 6 months of game time and should be able to make enough to keep playing for free.

This expansion does look great. I really hope they take their time and do it right.

I am not really motivated to play any in the last couple months but since I own all the CE's for this game, I can't stop buying them now.

Doesn't matter man.. botting is botting.

I am so behind i just leveled from 60 to 90. Stopped at litch king now picking up with Warlords but have absolutely no clue what is going on plotwise. I always liked fighting the undead the best.

- Dalaran and the Kirin Tor will be joining us in the Broken Isles, becoming the main hub for this expansion.

So does this mean ( hopefully ) that Dal city from Wrath is back in this expansion, and a Faction shared like it always is ? I recall Dal being a floating type city, so I am guessing it just floats over to the 'Legion' continent ?

This game really needs Faction shared cities again, as silly as that sounds, it added a lot to me IMO. The Faction hubs in WoD just sucks balls.

Confirmed, Dalaran will be teleported to the Broken Isles by Khadgar.

Basically youtube and wowwiki/wowpedia. I'd start by watching the old cinematics on youtube or some lore commentary videos. Then look at the individual history on the wowwiki or wowpedia which has tons of write ups.

I think so, Blizzard is in this for the long haul and they aren't the type of company to stand idle once they finish development on one game. They know WOW is no longer becoming sustainable in the larger numbers they favored 5 years ago. They hit their peak and it's slowly going downhill. My guess is their next MMO will be of the F2P variety with plenty of micro transactions. Titan was cancelled because development was long and it wasn't up to their standards at the time. So my guess is they cancelled it a long time ago and had already transitioned the team towards Overwatch when that happened. Once Overwatch is released they will probably put most of the team over towards their new project which they've probably already began working on.

Currently in development
WOW: Legion
Overwatch (Finalizing but will most likely receive content updates ala HotS for quite so time)
Heroes of the Storm (Complete but still receiving content updates such as new heroes and maps)
Diablo 3 (Also receiving a large new content update but mostly running minimal staff)
Starcraft 2 Legacy of the Void
Unannounced Diablo Project

Warcraft is huge, it's fantasy and lore scales to nearly Tolkien levels. There's no way it will die with WoW and they will most likely revisit it in the future. WOW still has plenty of life left that Blizzard will milk dry. The servers themselves will slowly be optimized and scaled down until their resource usage is low enough that they can continue running them with minimal cost. Eventually they will transition WoW to F2P which is already in the process with the ingame market and gold/time exchange. Until the subscriber count dips under 1mil WoW will run with minor content updates like all other Blizzard games until the staff costs are no longer meeting margins.

Due to the number of toons out there, I wish they would implement a first name/last name option. For example, in GW2, all my human toons have the same last name. Norn, get their own etc, but it makes it far far easier to deal with because I don't run into "name already used" issues.
