Dark Souls 3 annoucement at e3

Shields are back or the Kite Shield anyway..

The game wasn't the same without Shields not that I used them all the time I rolled wanderer like in DSII.
Just swinging senselessly in a 3rd person game or whatever doesn't have the same effect if you don't have a shield in a Dark Souls game.

that armored boss on all fours reminded me of the Blood-starved Beast, and I was consistently getting Bloodborne vibes throughout the trailer...amazing that even with this yearly Dark Souls release schedule (since 2014) that they have somehow managed to avoid burnout and feeling like the same game with a new skin (aka CoD)...it's a testament to the greatness of their development team...although Dark Souls 2 was a slight step down in quality, it's still better then 99% of games out there

If Dark Souls II came out before Dark Souls I people would like Dark Souls II better just the nature of the human mind accepting what is a standard.

The monster on all fours is just sweeping the floor with a cleric mace or something..

After that Laser tag Amygdala fight I won't be surprised to see any type of monster in this game.

OMG, those BOSSES! Especially what I'm gonna call Skullface for now, that looked so sick.
Please Gamersyde dont let me down tomorrow. They will definitely upload HD footage of people playing this week. I am super hyped! That trailer showed me just what I wanted. Big, scary, ominous bosses. With more imagination than any of the last games. And he moves like a 'Hunter'. This game is gonna be the pinnacle of Dark Souls, what I've seen certainly shows it.

I don't think that Skull guy was a boss...just a guess but I think he's an NPC...the new bonfire mechanic looks interesting...they make it seem like you can now create your own bonfire...I doubt you can create one anywhere so I wonder how it'll work

I thought the same thing! Ironically, I fought BSB last night in my NG+ of Bloodborne, that battle is fresh in my mind and I had an immediate flashback when that boss came on. And watch that player move, totally dashing around like a hunter. Love it.

I hope not, but if so, shadowgiantguy in the next scene looks even bigger, so that works.

But, lets say it is an NPC. That means you can fight him. As long as they don't make him like the Serpents in the first game(they don't fight back), which would be lame.

Looks good. Hopefully that is console footage as the IQ isn't very good -- dat aliasing.

Lets just hope Miyazaki doesn't fuck up the multiplayer/invasion/PVP/COOP aspects. As good as he is as a director/level designer the Dark Souls 2 Team B did wonders for the invasions/MP/PVP aspects for the series. Less BB MP/PVP, more DS2 MP/PVP.

And let's face it MP/invasions/PVP are the real meat of these games and what keeps people playing. BB's PVP/COOP were downright awful.

I'm curious how DS2 coop was better than DS1. I haven't ever plaid 2, but from what I remember reading before it came out it didn't sound better... but the only thing i can recall was that they put a time limit on how long a coop session can be, which hurts a cohesive co op experience, rather than helps it.

Could both people get the benefit from killing a boss in DS2?

I disagree, i've never once touched the pvp except when dealing with invasions in any of these games and have hundreds of hours in them.

Then you are missing out on half of the content. Invasions/PVP min-maxing at SL150 for arena/invasions is a huge part of the Souls series.

I'm with yourgrandma. I barely did any PVP, and it was typically more of an annoyance than anything else cause of people's superior knowledge of the game.

the MP is the meat of the replayability...going in and pvp'ing is what keeps me going back after beating the game more times then I can count...if it didn't have pvp it would still be an excellent series but I agree that the MP is vital to the series

also agree that Bloodborne's MP was terrible...that bell ringing lady concept sounds good on paper but was terrible in the game (especially compared to the previous Souls games)...also didn't like the limited number of weapons/armor in the game along with the lack of any magic/pyro type of builds...everyone was pretty much playing the same Warrior type of build

PVP is just another facet to the game's meta.

Step 1: get the game to run (Step 1a: Google "dsfix", Step 1b: realize that there is no dsfix for DS2)

Step 2: play the game, die (a lot) (complain about weapon durability)

Step 3: beat the game (eventually)

Step 4: beat the game again (new game+)

Step 5: PVP and invade others' games (or help them out) :D

Of course. You get the souls and stay human. There's your benefit.

The small soap stone only adds to the multiplayer. It gives more options in certain areas where a short summon to get human is all you need or you just want help for a short section and not have someone with you the whole way. The regular soap stone doesn't really have a limit anymore. It wasn't that bad originally, and would never send you back during a boss. DS2 also has a good number of factions, in particular the dragon one and the bell defenders and the way of blue for beginners. Bloodborne was disappointing on this front, with 3 factions, one useless.

Theres no way I'd have hundreds of hours in these games if it didnt have online and all the different aspects. I do all the covenants, jolly co-op up and down the place. You guys are missing half the game.

can already see the Miyazaki influence on world design/building...also plays a lot more like Bloodborne then any of the previous Souls games with the fast combat and blood splatter...I'm thinking since Bloodborne will never be released for PC that they are giving PC players a chance to somewhat experience that game with Dark Souls 3...Bloodborne gameplay with Dark Souls lore, atmosphere and level design sounds amazing

Game Informer got the scoop on several new Dark Souls 3 tidbits...fast-travel is accessible at the beginning of the game...Miyazaki also confirmed that weapon durability will be tweaked again, as he believes there's probably a nice middleground between the systems found in Dark Souls and its sequel...meanwhile, summoning and invasions will work the same as in DS2 (ie, the series won't be inheriting Bloodborne's bell mechanics), though match-ups won't be determined by Soul Memory anymore, but rather Soul Level...it worked that way in the original Dark Souls, and is arguably better and fairer...

MP bar? Getting (bad) flashbacks from Demon´s Souls right away. :)

As for the matchmaking... Biggest problem are the weapon upgrades. Game should match with soul level + highest upgraded weapon and armor from entire inventory of a player. So no twinks with +15 invading new players. Then again, it´s going to be P2P again, right? So especially on PC it will be full of hacks in no time. Such a shame, because the fighting itself is pretty fun for most part.

I always thought that the hacks and unbalanced fights were just another facet of the metagame that DS PvP turns into. :D

DS2 is not P2P.
It uses dedicated servers. Probably same with DS3.

With the trailers and things, I am afraid they've dropped the "weight" to items or something, making it more like bloodborne.

REALLY hope I'm wrong, but watching the video with the guy in armor it looks so fast, and he's rolling like someone in light armor.

Hell, I wish games (As a whole) would stop with "Rolling" all together, it not only is absurd, but makes little to no sense. sidestepping/leaping back would fit a lot better, would make a lot more sense, and wouldn't look as weird in the first place. You could still have weight affect it, have the actual jump back/sidestepping be faster or slower depending on the weight of what you are using and your characters attributes.

Rolling is useful if you jump or fall from a height, you tuck into a roll, but outside of that there's no reason at all to "roll" especially how it's used in gaming.

That's funny, cause that was actually my first and biggest pet peeve when i started playing Dark souls.

I got to the first black night and was like, 'how do i side step a little like he does and not have to roll 6 feet away???' lol

I think Ds2 might use listen (dedicated servers) for matchmaking coop/pvp but there is definitely no dedicated servers where 2 players join a hosted From server and either pvp or coop. Why? Because you can use tools to troll people and lag out there game, spawn them to different locations, etc, etc. This would not be possible on dedicated servers. Trolls on the PC version use lag switches a lot. The game is def P2P.

Dark Souls III launches in Japan March 24, 2016

Dark Souls III is debuting on March 24, 2016, at least on PlayStation 4 and Xbox One in Japan...From Software has yet to reveal release information regarding the PC or international versions, but the developer has promised to disclose more on those fronts sometime in the near future

In the meantime, the studio has opened a sign-up page for a network test, which is planned to run from October 16 to October 18 on PlayStation Network, for PS4 users with Japanese accounts...

Dark Souls 3 will be showing up slightly later in other parts of the world than in Japan (which gets it in late March), as Bandai Namco have announced an April release window...no word on a PC delay yet but I wouldn't be surprised to see a slight delay

I may be alone is this but..Does anyone else think Demons Souls is the best souls game?

I think it is a damn close second, even including Bloodborne on that list. Still prefer Dark Souls, OG. Build variety, gear selection, seamless level design, even the story is a bit better in Dark Souls IMO. Truthfully, Demons Souls is close enough in quality, I could give it a nod in several areas as far as originality and fun go.

It's certainly not a bad choice.

Fuck no. Anyone that thinks that is simply remembering it through nostalgia glasses. Tried playing through it again a few months ago and it was insufferable. Of course the first time I played it was best thing since sliced bread since it was the prototype of all the Souls greatness to come.
