Freesync on Korean 4k IPS 42" & 55"?

HDMI 2.0, no DisplayPort, and FreeSync. That's a confusing combination since AMD doesn't support HDMI 2.0 and specifically recommends DisplayPort...

Any solid confirmation on the input lag on these? Searching that overclock forum thread just results in a bunch of values ranging from 20ms up to 80ms and people claiming it varies from panel to panel.
 
at 42" 1080p would make your eyes bleed.

The HDMI 2.0 panel is the one that supports FreeSync. Lowest I found was $749, still not bad.

you are not missing anything the hdmi 2.0/4:4:4 is the panel with freesync after a firmware update. They both have DP, but only the HDMI 2.0 model has 4:4:4

Right, but to use freesync, dont you have to be over DP? And if you want 4:4:4, dont you have to be over hdmi 2.0?

Is there a way to have both 4:4:4 and freesync at the same time?
 
i dont think DP has an issue with 4:4:4

People were only bitching because TVs only have HDMI, not DP and have ot have 2.0 to get 4:4:4 @ 60FPS(asuming the panel supports it) and AMD doesnt have HDMI 2.0 on any cards.

I recently purchased a 34" 21:9 for the same price. I love it, but would to eventually jump and try 4k. This seems to be the perfect panel. Will keep a close eye on it!

Why are there no professional reviews of this monitor anywhere? I am afraid it will have QA issuses. Here is an Amazon review from an owner.

Purchased from an eBay seller. Complete write up on my blog of my experience - screenshots, images, videos, etc. If you search for "Wasabi Mango RevsionX Review" on Google, you can find it easily. Arrived with occasional black "block" missing from the top right of the display when powered on. If the PC was turned on before the TV (on DisplayPort), the image would never come up without rebooting the PC. With certain images it would almost display what looked like stuck pixels, but it was more of video speckling (video on site). Their support shipped me another board, so I reluctantly replaced the board and it actually fixed all the problems, but this new board has even worse (unacceptable) video glitches every 10-30 seconds or so (another video on my site). With each problem they offered a partial refund, but really - who wants any monitor with video sparkles or non-stop glitches? Spend more to get something reputable, these sets have not been through a thorough enough QA process to be shipping today, IMO.

I would put more faith in the general consensus at the OCN thread then one review on Amazon.

Similar to other Korean monitors when they first come out, it takes some time for the word to spread. The first post in the OCN thread was only in May.

As long as you buy from a pixel perfect reseller, QC shouldnt be an issue as they usually check every single display before they go out.

Yeah, I heard that claim is not always true and I've read a lot of nightmares about these cheap Koren monitors. I cannot find a professional review of ANY Wasabi monitors anywhere. tftcentral, for example, has none reviewed.

Pixel perfect is a crock of crap, you're at the mercy of whatever the quality level is of the current batch they have. I have dealt with 2 sellers and 3 monitors, none of them were perfect lmao... Use your Discover card when you deal with them through paypal makes life kind of easier....
 
SOB, I just purchased a Dell U3415W and is scheduled for delivery tomorrow. I've been looking for a good 40" + with displayport and I had to settle for the Dell U3415W. Now I need to see if I should by this Wasabi Mango and compare it side by side with the Dell.

Before I bought the Dell I was looking all over for a 4k 40"+ panel that had Displayport as I have crossfire R9 290's and am not dumping them just to run a 4k setup with Nvidia HDMI 2.0 cards.
 
I have one of these on order from Amazon that is about to ship soon. I'll update this thread when I receive it although I don't have a AMD GPU to test freesync.
 
umm....a reseller that offers pixel perfect takes them back if they are not.

Its a premium service, and costs extra.

Most are 0-10.
 
Anybody have any info on the 55" model? I'm seriously eye-balling it right now, and reading through the overclock.net thread.

If it's the same awesome specs (DP, 1080p120 and 4k60), I'm 100% buying one.

Additionally the perfect pixel programs do not guarantee against stuck pixels, so you can still get stuck pixels. Further, after reading the fine print on many of the sellers the perfect pixel program doesn't refund you the extra cost if there is a dead pixel, they just refund $10 per dead pixel you find. So, no, I wouldn't (and didn't) go with the extra cost of the perfect pixel, I ordered and saved a few bucks.

bigclothcraft is a dishonest seller. Took me over 2 months to finally get refund from ebay buyer protection after he ignored returned monitor in clearance for 3.5 weeks (he had sent message saying I could return it, then ignored all messages since in May). He also gave bad contact information and would not respond to myself or Ebay. And yes as others have said the pixels are usually not the issue. I have had 4 Koreans monitors now, 1 with yellow patch in corner, 1 with horrible backlight bleed and buzzing, then it died after 2 weeks (both catleaps). Others had very bad backlight bleed (DGM) and finally yellow staining in the corners and backlight bleed.
Stopped the Korean monitor game now, going to get a proper quality monitor

Pixel Perfect is NOT perfect, finding a reputable dealer is hard and returns can be a huge pain.

I just paid $2,000 US for a Samsung 48ju9000, if actual owners can convince me this monitor is better I will return it and save $1,200,.

Since the non-pixel perfect is in stock, and the pixel-perfect is not, it really makes you wonder.

I thought HDMI 2 @ 4K/60fps 4:4:4 was slightly bastardised in colour to 8 bit, as it does not have enough bandwidth to actually do the job with HDCP crapping it up, unlike DP which does full 10bit?

edit: read the fine print, the 'perfect pixel' is not as perfect as e.g. dell.. I made RMAs for dust/dark blemishes 2x, where as any dark spots/dead pixels under 2-3 will not be covered on the Wasabi Mango and Crossover panels.

I'm looking at the crossover but both choices give me some pause for concern, so waiting to see what comes from Acer.. not that I'll trust them much more but at least local support may be more possible.

I quickly scanned the thread and just in case people didn't know AMD has been working on Freesync through HDMI. They already showed off a working proof of concept last month at Computex.

They will develop the tech and protocols and submit it to update the HDMI standard as they did with DisplayPort.
