Diablo 3 Discussion Thread

Blizzard keeping up the good work.

http://us.battle.net/d3/en/blog/19802338/patch-230-ptr-preview-6-23-2015

I might come back for S4.

Thanks for posting that, I rarely visit this subforum, but I'm glad I did. Showed it to a friend a bit ago and we decided we will play in Season 4 when these changes are implemented. One thing Blizzard always has had going for it is that they support their games long after release.

I also think they are going to do another expansion for this game, which, if it is as good as Reaper of Souls is, then I will gladly buy it. I'd like to see an increase in the level cap, another 10 levels, some new zones, and more loot.

I would also like to see a return of the Necromancer and Druid, I really loved those classes. I don't like the Witch Doctor.

can we get a short version for people who cant see the updates at work?

  • New zone
  • A new Cube that will let you break down legendries that can be used for passive gains, transmute mats to others, etc.
  • Rework mats required for crafting
  • Rework some bounties to include stuff for the cube
  • 4 new Torment levels (up to Torment 10)
  • New legendries and sets
  • Changes to combat such as not letting as much CC on certain mobs, harder mobs in grifts will give greater amount of completion

It's a start but still probably not enough to draw me back for another season just yet.

Thank god I never wasted time farming for the HF amulet since it will be much easier now.

Still not sure whether I'm gonna play the next season or not, maybe it will be better. Season 3 was just complete "meh", season 2 didn't have much added but was more enjoyable since it wasn't 3 years long.

I crafted 8 HF amulets and all were crap.
Looking forward to the new patch, hope we don't have to wait too long.

gave up on D3.
seems POE will be the game for this type of games as they fixed the desync issues in upcoming awakening.

Still waiting for the overkill loot rng to be toned down a bit, but these are welcome changes overall. With the addition of higher torment levels, I hopefully won't have to push GR's for drops anymore.

Interesting; sounds like the majority of this will be available outside of seasons? The new cube definitely sounds interesting, might bring me back to the game.

Also, the HF amulet change is massively welcome. Farming keys was idiotic, particularly when it seemed like the wardens only dropped the key about 25% of the time.

Might actually download the PTR and check these changes out once they're available. Definitely sounds interesting. Season 2 was the best because it was short. Season 3 has gone on waaaay too long.

POE will never be in the same market as D3. That game is pretty much 99% about the economy/trading while Diablo 3 removed that when they got rid of the auction house. The drops in POE can be horrendous and the only way to really get the gear you need is to trade, something I'm not interested in.

QFT.

POE is great until you get to end game. Then the loot grind is just stupid worse then launch D3.

....Now if we can some how incorporate the Grid system of POE (FFX) into D3 and amp up the player count from 4 to 8 then D3 would be pure fucking gold.

Got to rank 211 in the 2p leaderboards:
http://us.battle.net/d3/en/rankings/era/3/rift-team-2#page=2

I had to dance around a bit with Perdition at the end of that 59 because the zdps died and I was the only one up and there were like less than 30 seconds left. It was fun. I think I could beat 60 and then MAYBE 61 and over, but it would take a very good rift. Like, preferably a 400% damage pylon right beside the grift boss please. And no mobs with crappy progression. Lately we haven't been having many runs with big mobs everywhere, it's just been kinda spread out crap.

I was playing around with my Ball Lightining/Krider setup and it's pretty strong even with a low end Krider, 2400 DPS.
The only problem is that it sucks when playing Solo since your shots take sooooo long to get to the enemies.
Kept dying from ranged attacks as I was shooting my blue balls at them.

Loved POE's amazing skill system, liked the less cartoony nature that is all Blizz does anymore, more level variation, etc...

But jesus christ the end game loot grind could be something Catholic priests assign as penance after confession.

Yeah blizzard is really raking in that casual market. I think they are keeping it light and cartoony to try and attract the farmville crowd (aka women). After playing Heroes of the storm I can't help but think they took dota2 and removed anything that added complexity/learning-curve/skill to make the game less competitive to reduce toxicity and allow for more casual and sensitive players. Very interested to see how this model is going to work for them in the long run.

D3 and POE both do so much right I just wish I could merge the two to remove both of their down sides....POD...Path of Diablo....I'm on to something here.

I am about to make the best post in this entire thread.

Here it is.

So, now we start at 12 each time and then go up after completing?

I think what happens is they probably record the highest you've ever gotten and then let you choose it again after completion.

At least that's what I'm desperately going to pray for, assuming I'm even going to keep playing this game. Honestly I could probably get into the top 100 of the 2p leaderboards with a bit of luck (and could definitely get somewhere in the 4p leaderboards if I could ever actually get a crew together), but my enthusiasm is kind of tapering out. It's just too hard to find the right people in this game. Its community functions simply suck.

Would they stop releasing the next piece of RNG bait and make a competent matchmaking system? IE rather than LOLPUBS where everyone's just shoved in the same friggin room without any rhyme or reason, how about making it so you can either browse rooms to find ones intent on doing the grift level you're on? Either that, or let people put in the grift level they're interested in (based on what they've already completed) and then try to get people together based on class. Obviously that would take some work and considering Ancient (lol) items even exist, the devs have clearly shown that they're quite afraid of real work.

It actually reminds me of WoW. I completely quit that game because finding the right guild in it is too difficult. They again just completely skimped out on those community functions. I don't know how many people there are like me, but I hope they realize that multiplayer games need competent multiplayer functions. Otherwise I'm just probably gonna leave at some point. Because I don't have time to grind for your next little bit of RNG and do difficult things while wasting hours trying to find people to do it with.

how long will that patch be on PTR? i might reinstall once the patch comes out on live servers.

Well damn, Seven Sided Strike is getting a lot of attention this time around. I still use the Madflow Monk so I'm curious as to what changes I could make to that build.

Seems like 1 of the Cube features could be reworked, the remove level requirement seems like an amazing idea but leveling in this game doesn't take all that long, plus it eats your gem of ease so you have to get another one and level it to 25

I guess it is still somewhat useful because I don't think you can (I couldn't anyway) level on T6 all the way to 70 with just a level 70 weapon, with a full set it would take like 2 minutes to hit 70

Before I left for work, I went ahead and got in the queue. Then I made a quick macro for my mouse which just keeps clicking one spot so it doesn't boot me out. Since it's just PTR, I don't really care what happens, or if I come back to find myself dead. As long as I can log in and try out this one Nat's/UE hybrid build I thought of. I already have all of the pieces to make it work, just need to slot everything in.

Quick question: are the things we break to get passives made account-wide or are they just on the character that you broke them on?

Archon is looking to be the nuts.

Fazula's Improbable Chain

The Swami
The bonuses from Archon stacks now last for 15-20 seconds after Archon expires

Vyr's Amazing Arcana

(2) Set Bonus
Archon gains the effect of every rune
(4) Set Bonus
You automatically start with 50 Archon stacks when entering Archon form
(6) Set Bonus
You also gain Archon stacks when you hit with an Archon ability

Chantodo's Resolve
Has been redesigned
(2) Set Bonus
Every second while in Archon form you expel a Wave of Destruction, dealing 350% weapon damage to enemies within 30 yards
Every time you hit with an attack while not in Archon form, 350% weapon damage is added to the Wave of Destruction, stacking up to 20 times

To answer your question, it's account wide to an extent. It depends on the game mode you're playing. If you make a seasonal character in 2.3, the passives will be tied to seasonal and probably roll over to non-seasonal after season ends. If you make a hardcore toon, the passives will always be hardcore. If you make a hardcore season toon, the passives will probably roll over to non-season hardcore after the season ends.

The queue is wack. I left the game running when I went to bed. Before I went to bed, I was sitting at 10 hours and 18 minutes. When I woke up, the game didn't crash, but I was sitting at 18 hours. I logged out. PTR is broken. It's biased towards the streamers. Seems like all the famous streamers get in no problem.

I see they removed the duration buff in Archon, darn.
I was hoping you could get parma-Archon with the new set.

No they just either got on first or have a bunch of fanboys who are willing to give them a spot. That's usually how they get their games, although they often are online before they start streaming farming or doing some other boring stuff.

Either way, I ran queue from the time it went up yesterday (within 20 minutes I logged on) and at 10pm last night queue time still said 5 hours.

When I went back to my computer this morning, it had timed out.

I'll wait for live.
