980 Ti Gigabyte G1 Newegg Preorder.

Well I just got mine installed today. Don't let the reviews fool u this card is as quiet or more so than the 970 version it replaced.

This one has to go back though because some smacktard set something on the box that was so heavy that it bowed the backplate and fan shroud. Card still works but now I have to wait for newegg to get more in stock.

Did you change the fan curve? What about when it gets to higher speeds like 70-80%

Just replaced a GTX 980 SC with this card and am very pleased with the bump in performance and acoustics. Quick OC to 1500/7700 yields 9200 in 3dmark Firestrike Extreme 1.1

Had this card for about 6 days, so far its been excellent. Played BF4 and witcher 3 without a hitch at 1600p on Ultra and boosts to 1380. Noise wise it sounds the same as my eVGA 780ti superclocked ACX.

Default fan profile for results below:-
At default clocks 1152/1241 (3770k @ stock) boosting to 1380, temps 62 deg max in a closed case. Firestrike 1.1 14,267 - GFX Score of 19,266 / PHY 10,069.

Small OC +150 core (1302) + 200 mem, (3770k @4.4) boosting to 1530, temps around 64 deg max in a close case. Firestrike 1.1 16,212 - GFX Score of 21,142 / PHY 11,902.

So your gaming at 2560x1600p? How was your framerate on what settings with Witcher 3? My overlocked strix 980 is dying at 1440p with Witcher 3

Sounds great, I found a video on youtube of some hardcore coil whine.. do you notice that?

The only time I noticed any coil whine is in the witcher 3 main menu when it's running at 2000+ fps.

Running at 2560x1600 gpu/cpu @stock, I am getting 60-65 in Cities with all settings on max/ultra except NVidia hairworks off and background characters at High at 1600p.

Wow, im amazed that it runs that much better outa the box vs the 980.

The G1 is about a 10fps increase over a reference card at 1440p from memory and when you consider mine is boosting to 1380 core in game it makes sense. Significant performance improvement over the 780ti I had before.

Wait, you talking about the stock overclocked core from the Gigabyte or the extra overclock you gave it? I'm bummed out they didn't oveclock the memory, why the hell would they not do that...

Stock overclock, card on default settings 1152/1241 which boosts to1380.

Hmm wish the STRIX 980 Ti would come out so I could compare them but no one has Gigabyte in stock either so....

before making my decision. Too early to pull the trigger. Since I have regular titans in sli. I can afford to wait.

Got my Gigabyte 980 Ti G1. People who were worried about noise need not be, it's quiet and fast!

It also has a pretty impressive power limit, up to 130%. Still looking at how much I can overclock it.

Anyone have two 980 Ti G1 running sli in their case? and what case? I'm still worried about how much heat it will dump on the case and the temperature difference between the two cards. I feel it will be pretty large difference unless you have a motherboard with ton of space between the two cards and a super high flow case.

Received mine a couple days ago. Unfortunately, I'm less than thrilled.

It's significantly louder than my previous 970 g1 and has a much more annoying high pitched sound to boot.

Also, while not likely, my card isn't stable at even the default speeds. It crashes in heaven/gta5 like no ones business and artifacts in basically everything. I've even had it artifiact / crash in youtube. Will be TRYING to get a replacement card but at the moment it's under clocked to reference card speeds. Not exactly hopeful though as newegg and gigabyte said they have no ETA on new stock...

Would love to give this card rave reviews but it not being stable + it being substantially louder in addition to a less pleasant noise compared to its baby brother is truly disappointing.

What is your fan curve when it ramps up? I wanna know the noise when its at the upper limits like 60 -80 percent fan speed.

Also, what did you do you get 130% power limit?

Stock BIOS and fan curve for both. Fans definetely don't hit anywhere near 100% because when I set it at that in AB it's a jet noise but in real use (with auto fan) it's quiet even on load.

Definitely sounds like your card is defective, there were some isolated problems with the windforce coolers on the 970 series as well. Hopefully you can get a replacement sooner rather than later.

So it does get loud? I dont my cards on crap stock cooling settings, I always make my own fan curve

No, it does not get loud. The 100% fan setting is loud but the card never seems to use it so it stays quiet even overclocked.

Hmm ok, I'm gonna need to replace my 980 to feed my new 1440p monitor with something, I just wish the Asus version was out

The overclocked Gigabyte seems to hover around 60% fan speed on load, that's about 2600 RPM. It's not anything I'd consider too loud.

I got mine the other day, and only issue so far is that it doesn't recognize my middle monitor without me unplugging and replugging it in twice. Using all 3 DP inputs. Reboot it stays detected, but power off and its back to square one. Haven't tried swapping cables between the 3 to see if its a flaky cable yet.

Hummm I had a similar issue with a GTX 980 4GB G1 . The problem was not due to a cable and I had to use HDMI instead of DP to fix the problem.

As with any G1 cards, people have complaints about this product. I will wait for Rev 1.1 or 2.0.

Considering the stock situation...should I get another brand of GTX 980Ti, or hold out? The price on the GTX 980 seems to be dropping fairly quickly so I'd be selling that ASAP and then holding out with an AMD 5850 for a bit of time until I can get the GTX 980ti. I could maybe hold out a couple weeks with that before getting my 980ti, but is there any chance of the Gigabyte model even coming back in stock soon? The only thing I'm a bit nervous about is there are multiple reports of people with coil whine, loud fans, warped PCB, and other issues cropping up in reviews.

I got mine and installed and did a little testing but I did not hear any coil whine, The Fans are quiet compared to a EVGA GTX 970 FTW+ ACX 2.0. Card looked fine but didn't check for an warping that you mentioned.

Between those coolers The G1 and EVGA @ 100% the EVGA is loud as heck the G1 is loud but not even close I think. Seemed like somewhere around 70-80% fan setting on the EVGA was equal to the G1 @ 100%.

Set the G1 around 60% or so and it's barley noticeable. Set @ 50% is equal to my case fans so it blends in.

I got some sound clips I can link on here if someone wanted to hear the difference. I did them with the Case closed one where I sit and then 1 right up to the case by the side intake fan.

Here's a link to them have to download - https://drive.google.com/folderview...x3WTdMN0tuVjd2TldtNWZjQ25vMzlZTW8&usp=sharing

The Sound clips were in the same position for the Test. Sounds Clips start with Case Fan's , then I turn on the Video card fans set at 100% for 10 sec or so , then 70% then 50%.

God damn it, now its not even showing at newegg anymore

It's still there. I just bought mine. Now I'm super strapped for cash until I can flip my 980 GTX, but I have a few buyers lined up.

Cool, thanks for that comparison man. I think I'm sold on the Gigabyte model judging from the reviews. It looks like a winner. I don't feel like waiting forever just to see if any other upcoming coolers might potentially be slightly better.
