Acer Predator XR341CK 34" 144Hz Curved Gaming Screen with G-sync

Here is the first footage I have seen of an actual unit of the XR341CK and VA Z35 version.

The case and stand are so much more aesthetically appealing than the cheap generic look of the XB270HU, don't understand why Acer doesn't apply the same design philosophy for all of its gaming monitors. Am still half considering the XR341CK notwithstanding the lower refresh rate.

A version that uses a VA panel you say? Is it 3440x1440 75Hz with gsync? If so then I just might give this a go.

Edit: Well nevermind googling it shows it's most likely going to be 2560x1080 144Hz like the curved BenQ. Ah well maybe 4x DSR would still make this very enjoyable.

wait, I am confused, so this thing is for real now?
If its VA at 144hz I couldn't be more excited, those VA blacks

or is this still vaporware ?

I'm confused. Is the September release the 3440 res or the 2560 res? Also, is the 3440 res model still 75Hz and the 2560 is 144Hz?

Acer Z35 - tba
BenQ XR3501 - Q2 2015 according to press release, no further announcements yet

they also previously said a June release date not long before they said September

so I wouldn't be surprised if they pushed it back more as we got closer - companies announcing products way too early  (original UM95 took over a year from its first unveiling)

But WTF at the 2560x1080 @ 35" LOL

Wow everything is gonna look like shit at that size(fuck me, as ill probably still buy it just to try it). My guess is will have to wait another year to see an Ultrawide 1440p at that size and speed :\

35" @ 2560x1080 is the same pixel density as 27" @ 1920x1080. I currently have a 27" @ 1920x1080 (BenQ XL2720Z). Once you get used to it, you don't mind. I appreciate having a resolution that is easier to drive.

SSAA will also take care of that.

I'm gonna be all over one of them 2560x1080 since I have my 1440p for general use! I can't wait!

I'm used to a 1440p 27" and the thought of 2560 x 1080 35" ppi makes me cringe. That's a big panel for a pretty low res wtf?

I have a 120hz 27" 1080p and it's great for gaming, I assume it'll be just like that...but wider!

Yeah Same here. Happy with my 27" 1080p. And no gamma issues at higher refresh rates like many 24" 1080 panels have.
These new panels are interesting though.

The LG 34" 2560 x 1080 has already been out a while, enough to earn less than stellar reviews.
Official specs:

A random review:

Id personally stay away from 34" at 2560 x 1080, at ANY refresh rate. I simply don't think it will look good.

However, Im jumping on the 34" 3440 x 1440 IPS (yes, for the 99th time, it is 75hz not 144hz) w/ g-sync.

That will be a noticeable upgrade over my current 34" 3440 x 1440 IPS (just for the extra 60 hz + g-sync)

Will be ordering one the instant they are available.

sorry to be OT
but just dying to ask why 27" is the new 24" sweetspot for gaming monitors?
Hell I can't even stand a 24" 1080p half a meter away from my face, yet 27" is now a standard for 4K monitors? Am I missing something here or you guys are mounting these huge monitors like 1 meter away from your place and placed in the wall?

by the way I am using a cheap ass LG monitor thats 1080p and 22" in size as of this moment.

Bigger is better! I enjoy large screens for the immersion, but I found playing on a 50" too big and 24" too small. My current 27" 1440p and 27" 1080p are great as long as I have them mounted on an arm to adjust for comfort. These 34-35" panels coming out are really exciting for me since I fell in love with the 21:9 format when I had an LG UM94. I know a few guys loving a 24"/27 monitor 4+ feet away and these panels don't do anything for them.

I do not think it is a matter of size, but of market availability.

We do not have a 144Hz 2560x1440 24" alternative. So 27" is right now the nirvana of gaming: one either goes back to 1080p or gives up 144hz.

I have a 25" 1440p and agrre with you: a 24" 1440p with 144hz would be a market landslide, as at this side triple portrait solutions are more ergonomic:cool:

You're touching on several points that go to something larger:

This display industry is still way behind the 8 ball at least for the desktop scene.

In 2015 we really should have some more choice on some of these kinds of concepts than we currently do.

I'm thinking 75Hz is perfect.

This is a 5-megapixel display, which means that it's only slightly harder to drive (relative to 4k's 8MP) than the 1440p/1600p panels that became popular a few years back.

Would I like faster? Sure, but only because G-Sync can take advantage of the lower frame-to-frame times. I'm not going to be putting together a GPU setup that can drive 5MP at >75FPS for current games anytime soon :D.

This one's on the 'save up for' list for sure.

I just purchased another L section for my desk in order to accommodate this monitor when it finally comes available. 34" 3440x1440 75hz IPS is perfect for a triple monitor desk setup.

That's great but it's completly diffrent display using diffrent panel type, resolution and withou g-sync - the only thing they have in common is similar size and being curved ;)

AFAIK wasn't the 35" BenQ a 144hz curved 1080p Gsync monitor VA monitor ?

http://www.theverge.com/2015/6/4/8726489/acer-asus-curved-monitors-computex-2015

Acer emphasizes gaming, putting its Predator branding and some extra design flourishes on its new X34 monitor. LED lights adorn the underside of the screen, allowing you to customize the rhythm of their pulsations, and the whole thing is styled in a typically aggressive and macho fashion. The company has also overclocked the refresh rate from 75Hz to 100Hz, added two DTS-certified 7W speakers, and made the stand height- and tilt-adjustable.

Okay, I'm very interested again...

No there's 4 models

Acer XR341 - 1440p, IPS, 34" in g-sync and freesync variants , 75Hz (or as of last post 100Hz)
then there's Acer X35 - 1080p, MVA, 35" g-sync //edit: they renamed it from Z to X now :)
and finally Benq - 1080p, MVA, 35", no VRR in any form annouced

Jesus, now I don't know if I should wait past early July to see if it is indeed 100hz. How much harder would it be to drive than the XB270HU with a 980 Ti.
The cost will probably be too prohibitive for me though D:

1300 euro on amazon.de in preorder

Very happy to see its 100hz now but the logo on the front is too "gamer" for me. Companies need to stop assuming gamers like 14 kid style agressive branding.
