Fallout 4 Official Trailer

Suffice to say, if it only were "on you" for pre-ordering a game, then no one would care. It affects everyone involved with the game, from the players all the way down to the developers. The only party that ever consistently benefits is the publisher. When you take the side in an issue that benefits publishers at the expense of developers and your fellow players, you're apathetic at best and a troll/shill at worst.

Let's play devil's advocate here. What if lack of preorders to the business team signals a lack of demand for the game? Why sink more resources into it and get it right if it appears no one is even interested?

On the flip side, if there are a ton of preorders, you know there is high demand for the game. You know you will likely make a profit on it, and you need to satisfy the wants of your customers, so perhaps you spend a bit more time polishing, or you don't rush the release.

Regarding the graphics, I think the distant LOD should be improved. Those hills in the background look as bad as they were back in TES Oblivion.

But with that said, I think it's good that Bethesda be honest and show actual graphical quality that they intend to ship with, rather than some fancy quality you know will never make it into release because it would make the consoles look bad, and we can't have that.

Makes perfect sense, and in a perfect world ....

But we knew that it leaves one very important group out of the equation, the Shareholders of the company ;)

On the flip side. And to take some of the sting out of my earlier comments. I did say I would probably buy this game day one at launch, in a way there may not be that much difference between that and paying pre-release. At least if you are going to pony up early, Bethesda isn't the worst horse to bet on.

Because preorders are opened when the game is nearly gone gold. There aren't much more resources to spend.

I never buy games right off the ramp. Just end up paying the most for a game thats at its most buggy. I always wait 6-12 months. All the pre-release sales look so silly all things considered. Its like sellers waving meat to hungry dogs in a cage and making them bark lol.

That said, I'm glad to see F4. Games seemed so flat the last few years. With Skylake and Windows 10 coming out along with F4 there should be a lot of action all around.

So looking forward to this.
Fallout 3 was great, but this honestly looks even better.

I can see why it took them so long before saying anything, and why they didn't want to rush it.
Worth the wait.

I don't want to set the world on fire
I just want to start a flame in your heart
In my heart I have but one desire
And that one is you no other will do

While I'd love to buy and play this, I wont be purchasing it. I still cant get FO3 to work on win 7 after purchasing it on steam and I'm still pretty agitated about it.

im with ya. excited as hell for the game, but i know in order to get more of that next-gen look, mods will be necessary.

im just scared of all the potential bugs. fallout3 on PC was easily the buggiest game ive ever played. it cleaned up kinda nicely over a considerable amount of time, but my god, that launch version...

While there were a few glitches for me, the launcher version wasn't a horrible experience, compared to some games of late.

It did have some issues though, very playable for me still.

Phfft, now I wanna play FO 3 again....

LOL. Set the bar LOW so everyone is pleasantly surprised? I've heard worse ideas in the gaming industry...

It's Fallout, the game will sell on name alone. Graphics are just icing on the cake.

hell, if they made fallout a 2d top down or 3/4 iso view scroller with 16 bit graphics I'd get it. This is my favorite franchise bar none.

Interested in this to. Still have stuff to do in NV, bit got very bored. This needs a better story and gameplay though. Too bad it is using the same engine though.

This is one franchise that I always blindly just buy on release. or I suppose pre-purchase nowadays, and add all the add-ons as they turn up. It is one of the few, if not only, franchise that has never disappointed and are fully worth the full new retail price.

Umm... Did you not play Rage? I will never by a game that isn't on sale made by Bethesda ever again. Or any of the other companies that were behind Rage.

This is embarrassing. I have never played any of the fall outs....but I really loved this trailer and want to get it. Will I be totally lost if I don't play the 1st 3? I don't have the time to put in games as I once did...kids and all.

You're not alone. I've never played it either. It seems I'm always deep into another game to get involved in something else. Sadly, I'm terrible at changing gaming genres once I'm fully committed to something else. One and done until it's over. My loss.

Bethesda didn't make Rage. Id did. Bethesda, Square Enid, and Aspyr published it. Name a company in the gaming software industry that hasn't made or published a dud at one time or another.

Cool. Doggie could have benefited from some of that hair-fx or whatever they called it. Furmark looks more convincing.

There are many fur rendering techniques that have been out there for more then a decade, strange how they aren't put to use now.

I never really played this series either. I ended up with Fallout: New Vegas at some point and I couldn't stay with it. It seemed too nebulous to me. Also trying to figure how to make and/or disassemble stuff was far too confusing.

Every place that I have been today that has a similar thread going all have one thing in common. They have all devolved into a shitfest, seriously, why does this happen?

I reinstalled FO 3, and random freezes. Tryin' to install NV now. Used to play great, but that has been three years now since I piddled with it. Two systems ago? New hardware, new drivers....

Maybe I will cobble that x58 board and 970 back into a box and give it a whirl.
