390X coming soon few weeks

Fury is a better name than the anti-Nvidia butthurt "Zeus" name people have been throwing around.
How bad does it look to name your flagship after your competitor's flagship? Pathetic. AMD isn't run by 5 year olds, I hope. They're not playing second fiddle, they should use a unique name.

I remember suggesting they brand Hawaii... Iceberg.
Might make more sense doing it this time around with the WCE.

I remember Rage128 but I don't remember Fury.
On that topic, Rage is actually a worse name.

edit: Thought I might still have one, checked my shelf and all I've got is a Stealth64.
ATI Rage Fury MAXX, dual chip card. I think there was single chip Pro variant too. In any case I have baaaaaaaad memories of Rage series. I had RageIIc and it was 3d deaccelerator and drivers sucked big time (games rarely rendered properly).

Hmm this got me worried on switching to Red Team. I have been pretty pleased with my GTX 980 Gamings SLI. The drivers and scaling have been very good across all the games I play besides Evil Within, that has poor SLI scaling.

I've had both SLI and Crossfire now, my experience with SLI has been way better. You just have to make sure the cards don't throttle (which is easy to do) or it goes ape shit.

I somewhat hope DX12 makes multiGPU scale great all the time for both companies. I somewhat hope it also doesn't... because I am afraid I won't be able to stop myself from buying 4(+?) GPUs. :D

I've avoided this thread for a few weeks now. Do we know when the 390x will be released?

And also nice Titanic picture. I might use it as a background at work, describes what management is doing to my company.

Yeah, the Rage Fury Maxx was a poor attempt by Ati to beat out the superior Geforce 256 SDR by attempting the first SLI solution (it wasn't called crossfire then) anyone had done since the Voodoo II.

It was kind of terrible.

what are you talking about ! it was awesome, you could melt your case with the heat that came off of that thing :p

Saw this on Twitter. Think this might be AMD's 4GB ace in the hole?

Macri explicitly said their implementation doesn't require developers to do anything. His words were "OS and driver".
I'm not reading too much into it for now, if you were in his position what would you say? Seems like the easiest answer.

I don't care if AMD doesn't release a single GPU until the end of June as long as we know the specs/prices for the full lineup @ Computex.

I would venture to say an evolved version of the compression engine already found on the R9 285.

tainted boooooooooo. The card should be called zeus because its going up against the Titan and zeus overthrew and beat the Titans in a 10 year battle. Its a fitting name imho.

Tainted's point is that the Fiji should stand on it's own merits and not for how it performs against it's competitor. I tend to agree.

It would be an embarrassment if they named this card after the Titan. Very immature.
AMD needs to focus on themselves, when was the last time Nvidia even mentioned AMD? "The lion does not concern itself with the sheep" and all of that jazz.

If Fiji is better than the Titan X, the card will speak for itself.

zeus was the son of chronos ( a titan ) who would whoop his ass any given day.

Doesn't make sense why they would need a developer API then...

Lol.

Awesome in the same way the GTX480 was awesome then :p

On my highly over clocked stock cooler 470, the label actually started to melt and slide off of the casing :p

Ya Zeus was Krono's son, but I'm pretty sure Zeus, Hades, and Poseidon overthrew Kronos and the titans so I think that's where the reference comes from. Either way that's a good example why even if AMD wanted to market their card against the titan they should steer clear of using Zeus.

we all know preorders prices are never correct.

Newegg had the 290X reference at $9,999 right before they released

lol

wasn't really that bad, I'm just being dramatic, they didn't even have power connectors on those cards.
