390X coming soon few weeks

its on the side of the Mariott Marquis. $500 a night per room.

Im sure they are raking it in from the rent.

...And bedbugs. That hotel is riddled with them. Used to work down the street and they closed, if I remember, in 2010 for "renovations" -- still couldn't get rid of them. That AMD display has bedbugs :)

Any hints yet that Fiji might be better at tessellation? Aside from what we saw with Tonga.
Shit's getting real out there.

i would assume all improvements from GCN 1.2 would carry over, including the tesselator.

And potentially the PLP multi-monitor options and who knows what else.

I wonder if we'll see DP 1.3 ports, or if those remain further out... I want that bandwidth!

Jesus. I wonder how much that cost (not just the tech, but the right to put it in tines square)

Either AMD is being very wasteful with their scarce resources, or they are very confident about something we don't know about yet.

I see things like this, and I just wonder...

I think the only thing it cost them was the time for someone to go out and make sure it worked... So, someone's salary?

Personaly I don't care if it has any DP ports at all. I'd happily take three dual link DVI ports :p

The potential PLP functionality that is now confirmed on the r9 285 (though it is too slow to really be useful with it, even in crossfire)

Scroll to bottom, it finally works

Definitely hoping this will be part of the 300 series. I'm all but guaranteed to buy a Fiji XT if it both supports PLP and is fast enough for me to want to play anything at 4960x1600 on it.

Right now, I wouldn't quite say they are processing any kind of revolution...

Let's just say someone with good connections on OCN told me Fiji XT is "much faster" than Titan X at high resolutions, and AMD "went all out" with the card. But unfortunately it does not overclock very well, and "not very fun to overclock".

No I'm not being facetious, but since WCCF and VC rumors are taken as gospel by most, thought I'd throw my own out there. :D Obviously the usual salt and all that.

ya have to think with water cooled cards, and the fact there trying to play catch up by any means possible.....that wouldn't surprise me in the least

Precisely. I don't care who's fault it is. I'm not dropping $750-1250 on a multi-GPU AMD setup again knowing that a fairly large percentage of games will, at best, support it late or at worst - never support it.

Hmm this got me worried on switching to Red Team. I have been pretty pleased with my GTX 980 Gamings SLI. The drivers and scaling have been very good across all the games I play besides Evil Within, that has poor SLI scaling.

I have been told that Crossfire is better today than it used to be back when I had dual triple slot Asus HD6970s DirectCU II's, but back then it was pretty damned miserable, so that may not mean much.

This is why my plan these days is top end single GPU or bust.

spoke to someone who's working on Fiji, and these are very powerful cards which are very crossfire efficient... even in dual-crossfire they will give 100% efficiency (so 100 fps with 1 card vs. 200 fps with 2 cards in CF!) and with no fan for WCE they're easy to CF with little heat.

Yeah I'm done with multi-GPU setups period.

The nail in the coffin for me was when I had to game on my crappy ass 4 year old Toshiba laptop with a puny GTS 350M, and found out firsthand that 28 FPS on that damn thing actually felt less jerky than 40 FPS on my 970 SLI setup LOL.

Hmmmm interesting if true. I was wondering if overclocking would be harder or more.....sensitive with HBM....

I would expect it to be way better in 4k with that much bandwidth LOL.

Curious about the card now. I need 1 good SINGLE card for 1440p/120hz

Same here. If it even just matches the Titan X, and that 4GB HBM isn't a major hindrance then I'm game. Although I'm still holding out for the possibility of an 8GB card later, especially since I'll be waiting for the Lightning edition anyway.

dont blame amd for your poor overclocking skillz.

Amd seems to be bringing back the Radeon name to label its top product. I think they are going about it right.

See this like every gen but it's just not true thus far. For me and the games I have CF just don't do much. Many don't work at all and then a lot that do have issues. Your FRAPS numbers my go up but it's often not as smooth as one card with a lower FPS. If the multi GPU in DX12 is the real deal then maybe it will finally be worth it.

How can I have poor overclocking skills since no one has ever overclocked with HBM and an interposer?

Curious do you have experience with HBM memory and the Fiji video card?

The possibility of full dx12 compliance makes that even more tempting.

I'm with you here. This is another "big improvement" we've heard about time and time again with new card releases that never pans out. So far, we have:

- VRAM usage will be more efficient (which coincidentally we're limited to 4GB on our flagship)
- Imroved Multi-GPU efficiency will blow your mind
- The new DirectX version is magic

Think about the demographic, though. Rolex, Ferrari, Apple - luxury products - and the average person is going to see a billboard and associate success with money, and both of those to luxury products which they can hope to acquire and show off to friends to demonstrate success and money.

Video cards don't work like that. Technical specifications and software support sell video cards. AMD putting a gigantic billboard in Times Square sells to what demographic, exactly? Who are they going to sway by doing that? Average Joe computer user? No, he has a Dell or a Macbook. Moderate enthusiast? Show me the money ( specs and driver support )

You know what AMD should have done to get additional, positive exposure for the brand? Release a Crossfire driver that worked for Witcher 3 and - also - release information on Fiji XT prior to computex to undercut Nvidia if it's really a Titan X killer.

A giant billboard? Who cares. This is like John Romero going to make us all his bitch and then, failing miserably.

Obviously you didn't share your midtown Manhattan demographics study with AMD. Not very fair of you to wait until now to clue them in.

What's the pixel count on this beast?
It's like 50 yards long.

edit: It's 1080p. Welp...

That's so Jerry can watch the Superbowl every year. /sarc

Totally disagree that Times Square's advertising market is geared towards luxury brands. I worked an lived there (yes, actually right there in Times Square) for the past 13 years and struggle to think of a single billboard advertising high-end luxury goods. The Times Square market is used by major brands to reach the middle-class tourist population: Coke, Samsung, American Eagle, blockbuster movies, Broadway shows etc. The area is basically a poster board for big, wide-reaching products.

First wish granted= CF wicher3 in Beta 15.5. So now everyone can stop whining about that. Second, you do know Apple has switched to AMD Graphics for most of their product line right?

Stupid name.
Emotions make for stupid names. Bad emotions are even worse.

"I'm furious with my Fury." Too many choices for bad puns.

The Fury name would make a lot of sense from the ATI days, will see... :)

I remember Rage128 but I don't remember Fury.
On that topic, Rage is actually a worse name.

edit: Thought I might still have one, checked my shelf and all I've got is a Stealth64.

I remember Rage128 but I don't remember Fury.

There is a reason for that and why ATI subsequently switched to completely new branding with its new following design the Radeon.

IMO they should've considered just naming the line as "RadeonPro." Natural connotations of a high end premium product. Tie-ins with the 9700 Pro, RadeonPro (software), and FirePro. Flexible for future carry on. Also less "bro" marketing.

Fury is a better name than the anti-Nvidia butthurt "Zeus" name people have been throwing around.
How bad does it look to name your flagship after your competitor's flagship? Pathetic. AMD isn't run by 5 year olds, I hope. They're not playing second fiddle, they should use a unique name.
