Hi,

So I was watching a movie off my laptop on my living room TV and tripped over the HDMI wire (some alcohol was involved) and knocked my MBPr onto the ground cracking the screen. I've watched a couple tutorials on replacing the screen but wanted to double check on what the lowest price should be for a replacement screen?

Anyone familiar with the going rate for this replacement screen? Best place to buy one (link)? Also, some tutorials claim you must change the whole assembly (as it's all glued) and some state you can just do the screen itself. Any input on that aspect of it is appreciated as well.

Thanks

Last laptop screen I cracked I found the same model on eBay somebody spilled wine on.

Problem solved.

I cracked the screen on my 15" rmbp about 6 months ago, looking into parts if I remember right was about $400 for a used screen, might be less for yours. Though my credit card had an extended warranty and ended up paying for the apple store to fix it. If you purchased it on a credit card I would check if they have some kind of warranty that covers it. The retina screens you are going to be replacing the whole top lid, infact I don't even think I saw just the screen being sold any where, it was always the screen the aluminium hosing for the retinas.

even apple doesn't replace just the screen

Just to be clear, you're agreeing with the users above that I should replace the whole LCD assembly and not just the LCD itself? I've seen videos tutorials of people replacing just the screen but they have to go through more steps to do it.

Also, can anyone link me to the cheapest seller of the whole LCD assembly? I found one but it's $400 and that seems expensive, in my opinion. Hoping I can locate one cheaper than that.

Thanks
