I'm looking for a pretty basic mechanical keyboard that is backlit. I was looking at the CODE keyboards and I like it but just can't justify spending over $150 on a keyboard plus shipping.

Any options for a good, simple mechanical keyboard for typing/gaming around the $100 mark?

The Logitech G710+ often goes on sale for around the $100 mark. It think they have a G710 version now too that has different switches but Im not sure if that is still back lit or not. I have the G710+ and am very pleased with it.

What type of keycaps are you looking for? I got a cherry MX red and regretted it, just blowing on the keys seemed to make them activate and just didn't work for me. I would be spamming the E key in game and would barely tap R way to often.

I think blues would have been a better fit for me.

Blues or browns, I have blues and they're very loud. They feel fantastic, but only if you can stand the constant clacking.

I've got a Filco Majestouch at home. Can't remember the switches but it works well and no issues. Yeah it is loud as fk.

switch preference is a pretty personal thing... I'm using a MX Red keyboard now (rosewill RK-9000RE) w/ dampers and I like it very much, I really have few problems with accidental keypresses and it is great in games. I only paid $24.99 :D for it on some crazy newegg combo 2 some years ago.

I also have a WASD V1 MX-Brown w/ dampers I like it also I use it more frequently honestly but i like either pretty well.

but just because reds / browns work for me doesn't mean they work for you / everyone... you got to figure that out for yourself.

you have about a day left to jump in on the KB V80 (TKL) on massrop or about 6days (as of the time of the posting for a Keykool 104RBG both would be close to the budget target.

the Rosewill RK-9000 V2's are right about at your budget.... they (rosewill) made some adjustments to reinforce the mini usb connector (many ...not me ..SO FAR.. report the connector breat on the orig RK-9000's) ... actually it seems pretty much perfect for your desire for a basic no frills board..

I ordered some on Massdrop ... they have 1 more day a $20~ PBT Key Caps... they look real nice .. those on the rosewill would probably be pretty sweet. but that is optional certianly.. they stock caps on my rosewill are ok... not great but they will do.

The Func KB460 is good, I have one and I am happy for the price of £70 with MX reds and also red backlit which is rare at the price (once you have used backlit it is annoying using a keyboard without it)

I've got a code with mx clears and I couldn't be happier with it :)

That said if you don't really want the clears and can live with browns you should be able to find a ducky zero or the like for <$100 pretty easily.

I purchased a Rosewill RK-9000V2 with blue MX's when I was looking for a mechanical keyboard. I haven't had any issues with it in the last two years. Would definitely purchase again.

Amazon has the Razer keyboards for less than $125-ish, depending on what you want...i loved my razer blackwidow, which i paid $100 for with a coupon and on sale...
