Nvidia GeForce GTX TITAN X Owners Club

Mine is scheduled to be in tomorrow. Going up from a 980 GTX. The 980 isn't bad at all, but having recently switched from 1080 to 1440 for my monitor I wanted a little extra juice to make sure I can still turn on the eye candy while keeping the frame rate steady.
 
im currently out of the country but I have 2 incoming to my doorstep... I'm excited for when I get back finally :)

I said I wasn't going to get one of these but I caved lol. EVGA SC arrived today :)

Just started replaying the original Crysis at 3440x1440 on my LG ultrawide and it's a big improvement from my 980. Still such a beautiful game.

Slight downgrade in performance. But more VRAM for... well who knows :p The future I guess...

Nice! Fits your overall system better. ;) I'm really loving the 3440x1440. Feels like the perfect width/height.

I'll have to try the original Crysis again... something about it turns me off. I think it's because the guns don't feel like they have umph, especially after playing Borderlands 2. heheh...

The better frame pacing of a single card over SLI make the whole experience a lot better, though. It's also wonderful to not have to worry about your VRAM budget anymore. I have a PG278Q running at 144 Hz with G-Sync.

Thanks for the reply. Sounds like it should be an improvement over all. Also if present rumors are correct, Titan x could actually be king of the hill for a while.
 
Get my replacement today. Temp sensors didn't work on my original EVGA Titan-X. Fan would only run at 0 or 100, and couldn't control it through EVA Precision or Afterburner. Hopefully the new one works right!

Thanks! I'm really excited about this new build. It all started about a month ago while I was playing Dying Light. I just hit a point where I decided I was tired of 1) v-sync and 2) screen tearing. Fired up chrome and ordered a ROG Swift for g-sync.

A day later, before the monitor arrived, I decided to get a Titan X to go along with the upgrade to 1440p. Things escalated pretty quickly from there and before I knew it, I was planning a new system from the ground up. I told myself I would never touch SLI again after dealing with microstutter and the never ending list of driver and profile issues with my 670s. Then one night I just said screw it; why have 1 when you can have 2 for twice the price? I can always turn one off. The budget/value ship sailed long ago for this build.

In fairness, g-sync can benefit from the performance boost gained from a 2nd titan. I see people claiming that a titan x is overkill for 1440p. In my experience, it provides a very tangible upgrade from a 980 at 1440p, and while adding a 2nd one into the mix probably constitutes overkill, I think the benchmarks clearly show that, especially with g-sync on, there are tangible benefits to be had.

The build uses a Corsair 450D, I would highly recommend the case. It was a lot of work to neatly pack everything into it, and the case is surprisingly heavy when you go to pick it up. However, I currently have this thing on my desk, and I just didn't want a full tower. I don't want or need 10+ 3.5" bays!
 
Are those aftermarket coolers for the Titan or a vendor that ships coolers with the AIO addon?
Those are EVGA hybrid AIO coolers. They're a pain in the butt to get a hold of right now. Just sign up for auto-notify and make sure you're ready to order within 30 seconds of getting the email.

The Titan X uses same reference PCB as 980, so it's a perfect match. EVGA is making one that says Titan X on it instead of 980, but it's going to be the same cooler, just different lettering on the shroud. I hope they make the shroud available for $10-20 so I can order just that when they're available.

When I ordered my first titan about 2-3 weeks ago, it originally went in my old 2600k system, @1440p, I was getting 45-65 fps in GTA V and 70-90 fps in Tomb Raider. My understanding is that g-sync will eliminate the screen tearing, but if your framerate drops, it can still hitch once you drop below 60, but I'm not really an expert. For all intents and purposes though, I think a titan x is perfect for 1440p.

I'm going to be looking at for that TITAN X branded AIO. Even though I can't hear the fan, I can feel the vibrations at 4000 RPM... It's just going to be a shame to loose that sexy graphite-colored magnesium shroud from the blower.
Yeah, that's kind of the problem with having such a sexy-looking stock cooler. Putting the AIO on the titans was a visual downgrade and I almost considered staying on air for that reason. I hope I can get enough OC out of them to justify it! :p

I had so much fun building this sytem, and I don't want it to be over, so now I'm thinking of doing a custom loop, but I've never done one before, so I've been researching that. The AIOs seem so convenient, and at least the H110i GT looks so good on my PC, I kind of wonder if there's really any point to a custom loop.

Got my RMA and the new cards fan sensor is working, thank goodness.

New dilemma. Do I use another ~$1000 and upgrade my base components (cpu, mobo, ram), or do I just buy another Titan X for SLI? Current system is based around an OCd 3770k @ 4.2ghz, and I'm leaning toward grabbing another Titan X, because I think $1000 spent there will yield a lot more performance than $1000 moving to a newer cpu/mobo/ram combo, and I don't think the 3770k will be much, if any, of a bottleneck, even with SLI Titans. Thoughts?

Sounds about right. I was in the exact same dilemma and ended up doing both. It started with just an upgrade to a 1440p g-sync monitor, then I threw in a Titan X, then I said "screw it, time to build a new rig!"

That's a familiar story... started with a 3440x1440 with me though.

I had a 3770k / 7970trifire build I chose to tear down and sell off parts of because my wife was out of work for a year & we had another baby.... Thanks to the bitcoin nonsense I made $1,000 in profit. It was bugging me I had to bastardize my rig, she got another job and I went a little nuts. Splurged on a 34", needed two Titan X's to drive it right, I'd hate for the monitor to go to waste. Well.. dont' want to bottleneck the Titan X's so now I have a 5960x :) (I do a decent amount of encoding, which it was really for, also hoping it'll last 5-ish years).

Anywho I would suspect a 3770k would rarely bottleneck dual Titan X's if you have it OC'd a bit. Pcper had a review with IIRC 3x980's and frametimes were the same between the 4790k (which the 3770k isnt' far behind) / 5820k / 5960x. Too lazy to look for it.

To put it simply, if it's a choice between a second Titan X and a new subsystem I would go with the 2nd Titan X hands down.

Due to a bit of Amazon shenanigans, I am now a Titan X owner, and really, really enjoy it. I originally ordered an MSI 980GTX 4G Gaming from Amazon Warehouse Deals and got it shipped to me on a Saturday, with tax for about $510. It arrived Saturday morning and after I opened it, I became a bit concerned when the card did not come anywhere close to filling the foam cutout space in the package. Lo and behold, I remove it to find it only has one six pin power connector and is clearly branded ASUS. It had a VGA port, a DVI port and maybe one DP and one HDMI port. I never took the time to find out what it actually was and promptly requested a refund/return from Amazon. Amazon being Amazon, was great as usual and issued a full refund and label including my shipping cost. I was coming from a 290x with a HG10 bracket and an H80i Corsair cooler. I was able to OC it to 1170/5500, but man the fan got loud trying to cool the VRMs. It is for sale. I looked around and saw the MicroCenter in Cincinnati had several of the EVGA regular Titan Xs in stock and my wife happened to be in Cincinnati so she was willing to pick it up and bring it home. It is a great card. I am running it on a 34" Samsung se790 at 3440x1440 and was able to add 4x MSAA with all other options on Ultra to DA:I and while the frame rate does not peg at 60, it is so much better than the 290x. GTA V runs great too and I have not begun trying to OC it. I may order the EVGA AIO cooler for the 980 as it apparently works on it, unless Corsair comes out with a bracket I can use my H80i with, assuming it does not sell. Really loving the Titan X and while I may SLI it at some point, I think I am good for quite some time.
 
I got the same monitor. I love the thing. I also would of stuck with one Titan X but thought I needed two... One does a great job.

I got slightly above 16k on firestrike extreme today. I am someplace between Sk3tch and 5150Joker on the 2x card hall of fame :). Not sure how much I'll get out of my rig but I am happy with it. It'll probably take me a few weeks to get done tweaking...

I would start with the CPU. With as powerful as the TITAN X is you're most likely CPU-bottlenecked with SLI.

I did just that! I got it up to 4.5 Ghz @ 1.3V which from reading around seems good. It maxes around 60C with 25C liquid. 32GB of ram is at 2800 too, which I was a little afraid of since I bought ram off the QVL. I also read it's very dependent on the 5960x since the controller is on it and anything over 2133 is technically an overclock. Diminishing returns past 2400 from what I can tell, I might try to drop the RAM eventually and see if I can OC higher, or tighter timings.

Titan X are around 1500/8000. Seem stable which is great... I usually get the shit end of the stick when it comes to silicon lottery.

This is my best Firestrike Extreme so far, 16,208.

Right now the rig is at ambient, but eventually will have chilled water. I have to clean up some wiring first... ran the speaker wires next to the TEC power wires so I can hear everytime the 200amp relay contacts (if nothing is playing on the speakers), stupid mistakes like that.

The [H] GTA V SLI review showed that 3770k @ 4.8 was bottlenecking titan x sli
 
I'm hearing that backplate (like EK ones with thermal cooling) helps a lot with the temperatures (5-10C). Any truth to these claims?
 
Finally got my 2 Titan Xs in from Nvidia. Put them in over the weekend. I upgraded my monitor from a 25" 1080P to a 48" curved 4K Samsung so I needed a bit more in the graphics department than my GTX680 could provide.
