Just picked up GTA V for $46 with this code. Looks like it can be used on almost all digital downloads.

Also, just a heads up but I had a lot of issues with the Rockstar Social Club downloader for GTA V. The speeds were super inconsistent and looks like it is a widespread issue. Luckily my friend bought a retail copy and I was able to install with the discs and use the activation key that GMG provided me.

I would be all over this if I could activate it on steam.

You can still play with people on Steam you just launch it through the Rockstar Social Club app. It can be launched through Steam by adding it as a "Non-steam game" you just don't get the Steam achievements. Anyways, there are a bunch of other games out there that this code will work for as well.

For me, it's about having my games tied to two accounts (steam and, unfortunately, origin) for saves and future download/installs.

Think your missing the point. You still need a rockstar account with the steam copy. The steam excuse is not really an excuse anymore.. More like fanboy talk.

Nope. Never have been a fanboy of anything. Sure, I need another account, like my uplay games, but I keep track of everything I own with steam (and origin when games are only offered there).

As mentioned above just add it to Steam as a non steam game. I do it with all my games be it U-play or Origin. They are all added to Steam.

No he didn't miss the point at all, and no need to childishly call him a fanboi because he's got a personal preference.

Many people prefer their games to be handled directly by Steam without 10 or 20 different fucking downloaders sitting in their tasktray for every time some publisher decides they want to do their own thing. Creating a shortcut to a non Steam game doesn't change that. And if Rockstar decides they're sick of the PC platform again one day and take their social club bullshit servers down, no more download. I trust Steam just a little bit more to be there for the long haul since they have far more riding on keeping the service up for a long time.

With how well GTAV on the PC seems to be selling I highly doubt that is a major concern in the near future. Rockstar isn't going to suddenly one day go "We're sick of make money on this platform, let's turn everything off".

Eh, I think I'm still going to wait until it hits the $30 mark. Anyone recall how long it took for GTAIV to drop that low?

I believe GTAIV launched at $50 so going down to $30 wasn't as big of a drop. That said games do seem to drop in price faster these days than they used to. I wouldn't be surprised to see it half off by the end of summer or maybe early fall.

If you recieved the 25% off code from GMG this weekend it can be used for GTA V in the VIP section, which has it for the same $46 price tag, so once you apply the code it knocks it down to around $35

Rockstar downloader is definitely inferior to Steam, but its still worked great for me so far. I jumped on the pre-order before it was available on steam. When pre-loading came around, Rockstar downloader was hitting 112mbits on downloading. It did stall a few times, but hitting "pause" and "resume" would bring the speeds right back.

I was actually impressed with Rockstar. I was expecting the worst connectivity on release day or that release weekend. But it seemed to go down without a hitch and allowed the 6 of us to play for a little lan/online action on release weekend.

I wasn't too excited about going direct with Rockstar, but I was pleasantly surprised.
Good game on PC, good deal.

Is this something you've actually done? I've never been able to stack codes on top of VIP deals. In fact, I just tried, and it would not let me add the most recent 25% off coupon on top of the VIP GTA V.

Yeah that never works so not sure why he said that.

No, sorry I screwed up.

The wording of the email led me to believe it would work, but instead it only works on the undiscounted game, which makes it worthless since basically that only reduces it to the VIP price, plus of course there is almost always a 20-25% code on the front page.
