I have a HP Z600 workstation for work. Anybody have any idea if this will handle the Xeon 5690? It says on the website that it can take up to 2x 5670s.

I currently have 1x 5649

since there's very little difference between those cpus my guess is it would work fine, but it is just a guess......even still i would be surprised if it didn't work

The x5690 is the fastest LGA1366 hex core @ 3.47 GHz.

The x5687 is the fastest quad core at 3.6 GHz.

The x5698 is the fastest dual core at a whopping 4.4 GHz.

It all depends on how many cores you want vs. how fast you want each core.

for what its worth the 5690 gets my vote....and i believe there sold in pairs with slight discount on ebay

Yes the x5690 works with the Z600. Avoid xeon W3670, W3680, W3690 cpus. Those are for single cpu mobos only
