Diablo 3 Discussion Thread

Blizz ninja-removed the bracers that granted Barbs the "Wrath of the Berserker gains the effect of every rune" effect, essentially killing the hopes of every S3 Barb player. They left it in for the entire PTR, didn't listen to the 400 pages of feedback on the forum, and even nerfed the new IK...only to remove the bracers on the very last day without noting it anywhere.

To say there is an uproar on the forums right now would be an understatement haha!

Yep, probably spent 3000+ shards on bracers only to see that post later. Looks like Barbs are still gonna be stuck with Raekor Charge, which is still kinda fun but starting to get old.

hahahahaha. it IS a stupid question, only because if you have ever played a blizzard game you know they NEVER EVER do anything to make the grind easier, only more difficult.

:D

I haven't looked into it, but if they do push changes to already-found items, that'd be a first.

My Zuni set pieces picked up the changes on items i already found.

Set effect are probably easier changed than Leg effects, as Set effects activate completely independently of any stats or effects of the components, where as Leg effects, unless the effect does not have a range, must be rolled, and they probably have technical issues with adding effects to items whose stats are already determine.

Pissed they removed the morticks bracers for barbs in the last minute.. way to go blizzard u made us all believe play barb and ww was gonna be fun again but then u kick us in the nuts like that.. thanks :(

I honestly hadn't been paying much attention to the PTR and didn't even know about Morticks until recently. It's pretty hilarious that they had put that legendary effect on one piece of equipment when Vyr's Fantastic Finery requires 4 pieces to get the same effect for Archon. Unfortunate that they removed them.

Just read the Wrath of the Wastes bonuses (below) and for a casual player like me (i.e. not super into Grifts) it looks like it'll be bananas:

(4) Set Bonus

While Whirlwinding you take 40% reduced damage

(6) Set Bonus

Whirlwind gains the effect of the Dust Devils rune and the damage of the Dust Devils is increased to 2500% weapon damage
.

Lots of new stuff to try out. :)

Hmm, also just realized that I have a fairly kitted out Monk from season one that is already wearing 6-piece Raiment, so I think I'm gonna have to try that out tonight! I think a tri-gen combination strike build might be in order.

Yes. It's not the most fun playstyle though since it's still all tied to dashing strike.

Yessir:

Has been redesigned

Dashing Stike now lights up on your action bar when the increased weapon damage is active

I haven't played since season 1. I think i'm going to play season 3. What's the quickest way to level without high level help? Before, it used to be just running through the easy bounties that didn't require you to fight anything.

Good question.

BUMP.

Is Vanilla Diablo 3 worth playing again? I played it when it was released but it was terrible then. Never bought the expansion and don't really care to, but I might if I'm impressed enough with the state of vanilla.

Holy shit, you're right! Colour me surprised

I'd say yes. Pick a character you're intersted in and crank up the difficulty and play through the campaign. You'll unlock things quickly, get lots of gear, have reasonable things to craft, etc. Should be quite fun!

I have the expansion but i'm doing this with the crusader atm when i'm not playing with my buddies.

At this point, no

I do all kinds of bounties on hard difficulty, or at least that was my method for my first char on any season.

The Asia server were not updated yesterday, so I decided to go back to my European server yesterday for fun. To my HUGE surprise, I found that I had earlier found a SMK before the start of season 1, but for some reason I didn't bother using it.

Anyway, I think I will try either a Barb or WD this season, the WW barb seems fun, but I am inclined to go for WD this season.

Anyone starting S3 today want to run/level together this AM?

For a melee class, would Barb be the way to go?

Err...is S3 not actually out today? Thought it was :(

EDIT: 6 pm, damnit! Had the day off and had dinner plans. Ah, well.

Been off and on most of the day today helping P lvl folks at least up into the sixties... :D

Got to say the best was running through a rifts on a lvl with Teddys and watching the guy I was leveling running like crazy with a horde of Teddys hot on his heels..... :D :D :D

Debating whether I wanna jump back into this game or not....

If I do I think I'm gonna go HC and not powerlevel myself.

Find someone already at lvl 70 willing to P lvl you. Invite them into your party, set difficulty to T6 and let them lead you through doing bounties then rifts to finish leveling you up.

Just got through leveling 2 guys up to lvl 67 doing that, took about 1.5 hrs....

Playing my first Hardcore toon Wish my luck. First one only made it for level 5 lol. Almost level 30 with the new one. Playing a monk..

HOLY SHIT. My luck this morning is amazing

First this drops:

Damn, nice drops...

Gambled my first immortal leg, IK set gloves. At Paragon ~75 now I think, only have the 2 piece IK bonus at the moment. I did, however, get the Occulus ring that removes your cooldown with each resource spender. Trying out weird builds; I can keep my fury at 100% with the fury per second passive and the call of the ancients rune that gives 4 fury per ancients hit. With the IK bonus, they're up all the time.

I basically WW/Furious Charge when able, and cast Earthquake and Apocalypse whenever it's up, which is fairly often, although I want it to happen more. When I get the IK set bonus I'll switch Apocalypse to Wrath of the Berserker and try to keep that up as much as possible.

Need a few more pieces, but just ran this build for about an hour last night and was able to do T3 pretty easily.

How many sets are there per class? I have 6/7 Natalia's set now, and maybe a couple mauraders. Are these the only two? or is there another better more rare set which i haven't even seen yet?

The last set you will care about is the UE set. Unhallowed Essence. Its probably the most gear intensive of the sets, but at true end game pieces it probably will be the winner at the end of the season. But not by much, maruaders will be a close second, and this is for greater rifts mind you. Just speed farming T6, nats is very fast.

I just keep getting those damn Jamal's gifts, but never a weapon for them. It was literally the first drop I got in a Greater Rift on Friday..and I just got another out of a chest.

Now is this UE set only in the new season?

Ahh, okay. i'm assuming there are different drop rates on these sets? To have as many nats as i have and only a few of the other...

I've found that, on a character-by-character basis, the game will select one major set and kind of fast-track you through it drop-wise. You can still find the odd other piece, but a lot of the time (and I've played a lot of characters) you'll find a sequence of pieces from the same set. The way they've designed the game since RoS would support this kind of drop tailoring as well.

So if you've found a bunch a Nats you'll probably continue to find the rest before you find a bunch of another set. Sometimes the best thing a solo player can do is create another character of the same class: you can toil away trying to get the drops you want on your main, or you can create a second character and have the game do its thing and start throwing set pieces at you again.

No shit? I hadn't even thought of that. It would make sense. I don't have the gear to support a second class--with the nats i've gotten i can now just barely farm T6, but when i want another set i'll have to do that.

I have been doing 6 of Tal and 4 of the bubble one. Its pretty awesome.

Can confirm, the new 6 Tal is a lot of fun.

I've been running 6 Tal with Serpent Sparkler, Hexing Pants, and TnT. Using my old Vyr-Rasha wizard. Was able to solo Grift to 38 with no ancients and no unity.

The arcane hydras are pretty mediocre, rather than harvest my Firebird wiz I decided to run lightning hydras.

Lightning Hydras (main dps)
Black hole - spell steal (proc arcane, plus extra dps, plus crowd control)
Blizzard - Frozen solid (proc cold, plus crowd control)
Fireball - The cooldown fire version (running enough CDR to get this about ever 8 seconds to refresh the tal bonus, it procs fire and does some good single target dps)

The other 2 slots are magic weapon for extra damage, and energy armor.

The best bet seems to be running the Halo cold armor ring, this allows you to only worry about 3 types of damage, so you can add slow time (or teleport). Alternately you could run meteor and fireball both as your primary damage type (fire seems most popular), this seems the best option if you have the new fireball boots (and would require dropping hexing pants, or TnT, probably Hexing pants - although they work really well with this build).

Worth remembering that Blizzard doesn't stack, so careful not to waste your energy firing too many of them and then not having enough when Fireball comes off cooldown.

Magic Weapon / Familiar don't count towards the 4 damage types.

I really wish they'd do away with magic weapon and familiar and re-balance wiz dps to be good without them. Having to eat up 1-2 skill slots just to do good damage was always lame imo. I always wanted to use teleport, but there was just little reason to since it meant i didn't get the magic weapon damage boost.

Really enjoying DH now because each skill slot can actually be a move.
