Robert Downey Jr. Delivers Real 3D Printed Bionic Arm To Kid

The crates having "Stark Industries" branding across the tops really sealed the deal :D

That was adorable!

Even as an adult if I was this kid I would still be like, OMG TONY STARK!!! and then piss myself and pass out.

Dude, epic day is epic. :D

I had no idea bionics had come that far to make an arm that moves like that. I remember growing up the WWII, Korea and Vietnam vets all had hooks.

Hate to say it but by the body language the kid was about 1 year too old to get the most out of that. Still cool though.

That was the single coolest video I have seen this year. I love how the kid was very calm even though he was with Iron Man. Props to Albert and Robert for doing something very special for this little boy.

He's come a long way since Back to School..... :D

He's still just a druggie who got lucky.

Yeah, cause no other movie stars have done that...

Martin Sheen
Elizabeth Taylor
Johnny Depp
River Pheonix
John Belushi

Sadly not all of them got over their habits.

He stood by (almost in a creepy fashion) for a family friend who was balling her eyes out at a DMV down in SoCal, asking if she was ok, then waited near by until someone came to pick her up. So he's ok in my book.

Care to link any charity events or children you have no connection to that you've helped to brighten their lives? If not shut your ignorant mouth, what he did in his past is his business, if he raped or murdered someone then please share either words what does it matter? What he's doing with his time now is what's important.

+1

Lord forbid someone make mistakes and then try to fix them.

Honestly, while his life has included lots of lessons of what NOT to do, I'm glad that RDJ has found success. ESPECIALLY in a purview like this. He's the face of a character that makes technology. especially stuff that has actual MEDICAL applications "cool". This allows him to do all sorts of neat stuff like this. And he actually goes out and DOES it then.

THAT, right there is "class act" material.

He is doing lots of good. I am sure everyone has made mistakes in their past that they regret and learned from. No need to piss in his cereal bowl after he does good deeds. Makes you look like you are jealous of his hard work and efforts to help others.

RDJ makes such a good Tony Stark because he IS Tony Stark (a drunk/druggie who got lucky). You'll never hear me say RDJ was a great actor in IM and Avengers movies because I'm not sure it's fair to say going on camera and acting like you would any other day is acting.

On a serious note the rash of "real life" superhero appearances, particularly on the marvel side of things is pretty neat, the fact that the actors are seemingly embracing their onscreen personas in the real world for the benefit of kids having a tough time. Though if you're going to be typecast I suppose you could do worse than Captain America or Tony Stark...

For somebody who was clearly headed down the road to being a total dirtbag RDJ has reversed course and become somebody of character. A gentleman performing a noble act...

I have always enjoyed RDJ even before during his "drug" years.

Probably hit rock bottom and now turned his life around.

...as other have said. I am 40... I think I would have peed myself and passed out if that where me. lol.

RDJ is awesome! The embodiment of Tony Stark. lol.

This is what i like to see. Actors making a difference in a real way. I'd much rather see something like Robert making a kids day, over some half assed political bullshit. Or even worse, something like endorsing the anti-vaccination movement.

Face it, you are an actor. You are not a political expert, nor a medical expert. You exist to entertain people, and make them happy. Do that, and leave the rest to people better equipped to deal with the rest.

I've met more than a few famous people (actors and authors). Some are douchebags and get off on being "famous", but most are just regular people who happened to get well known. And for someone who lives that kind of life, going out and doing charity work like this *IS* work. But it's good work, and they don't have to do it, so i for one, appreciate it.

I completely respect the notion of giving a helping hand to someone - especially a 7 year old - who was completely disadvantaged from the beginning, Major props to Albert and RDJ, and all the people behind the scenes who made this happen.

Zooming out though - when will we stop dropping bombs on other countries, throwing people in jail for smoking pot, or hating others for their skin color / gender orientation / God-knows-what and simply start helping out people were it counts - like this child here.

He needed an arm - and got an arm. Why can't we apply this direct "problem/solution" model to other individuals who need help? (Not talking about simply welfare, or other crap like that.)
