Unreal Tournament 4/2015

It's definitely possible, but the Epic devs will make their final changes to whatever we put up, wether they reduce texture resolution, increase it, change proportions whatnot. I plan on making every one of my pieces of art maintain 1-1 pixel detail and quality up to 4k. Wether Epic chooses to ship the art with that fidelity is up to them. I plan on making the argument to have everything hold up to this fidelity: if you guys want to voice your opinion to encourage this: sign up to the Epic Games forums. You'll have one contributor behind you: it's one advantage to having a hardware enthusiast as an artist.

Will have to sign up to a new account and start posting. Pretty sure my last forum account got banned by Flak during the great UT3 beta protests :D

I prefer cleaner looks for the weapons. Dirty looks tend to mute the colors and make them all look similar (color wise). I like the yellow color scheme on the flak cannon and I hope it stays that way. One of my complains about UT3's graphics was that the colors didn't stand out, they weren't vibrant enough. Everything looks muted and dark. Even the characters, it was sometimes hard to tell the red team apart from the blue.

Other than that, I hope the game pace is as fast as older UT titles.

FYI there is a new build 10/31. Downloading to try later. Looks like its mostly all placeholder... but hey why not

is there any way i can play this now? i need this.

It's in pre-alpha right now. All the art is placeholder and nothing gameplay-wise is final. But if you head to the forums, sign up an download the launcher, it will keep the game updated for you.

Boring graphics sounds and music and levels.
The soundtrack was actually really good. Much of it was just the same old UT music — already good to begin with — remixed using modern production techniques/samples/synths rather than tracker software. Not that there's anything wrong with music built in trackers (see soundtracks for Deus Ex, Crusader: No Remorse/No Regret).

Unfortunately they ruined the music in game by having fast paced tracks kick in during combat while ambient tracks played in the background the rest of the time. That style works well in some games (original Deus Ex, looking at you) but not in games where the action is pretty much constant but also in short bursts. Slow paced ambient tracks don't belong in a game like UT.

i really hope that they do a clone of ut2k4 onslaught , just with updated graphics.

I dislike the direction the RL is going, but man I am digging that shock rifle. Looks to be the enhance/super shock rifle pictured (instagib).

UT99 gameplay/mechanics
Game modes from UT2004/UT3 for those who enjoy the additions
5 shot RL from UT99 versus 3 shot from latest versions
Bring back ripper from UT99
No bloom, HDR or other ridiculous effects added to make the game impossible to see
Refresh textures of map favorites

This is all that is needed. I was a competition player in UT99 and 2K3/2K4, skipped UT3 because it failed on all above levels. That flak trajectory in UT3, wow bad.

I agree with this 110%.

It doesn't matter to me what the weapon models look like, they'll be hidden on my screen anyway. Honestly though, I doubt I'll be playing much of this anyhow, we'll see though. I sure as shit am not going to be nickeled and dimed to death with a fuckton of dlc mods and addons, which will probably more than likely be the case. You want TAM 2k14?....$4.99, you want instagib ctf....you get the idea.

I finished up my end of the Flak Cannon design process. I tried to keep it at 4K fidelity; I also put in a good word with Epic regarding the PC gaming community. They assured me that they will have an "Epic" graphical setting to make the most out of badass PCs.

My Fav gun used to be the rocket launcher - now I'm not so sure

Great job on the Flak Kazeo!

What does the announcer say when you crank up the graphics settings all the way?

Thanks guys! It should be in the next alpha build (they are released ~weekly) if you want to try it out.

Just installed it, seems very solid for a pre-alpha. Unfortunately servers are a bit dead....hopefully it picks up more steam.

Wow! That Flack gun looks great!

Definitely looking forward to playing this, but I think I'll be waiting 'till a little farther in the development process.

I downloaded and installed the Alpha, but was extremely disappointed to find that it wouldn't save my resolution settings, so I am stuck at 720p for some reason. :(

If you can, sign into the forums and report a bug. The Devs could definitely use your input.

I will be playing that when I get home looks nice. I was running the game ona lesser map but adjusted the settings to epic. I was a little disappointed that it didn't proclaim "Holy S#!+" but the weapons looked awesome and the gameplay was still buttery smooth.

That's looking very nice. I'm getting a bit more optimistic about this game. Not much to go on still, but it's encouraging. Getting a bit excited, even if it is a bit premature.

It looks like UT3...

All that special effect stuff is just distraction in fast paced FPS games like UT. This isn't FarCry/Fallout or other world map where immersion is something of value, its a battle not an adventure.

I bet the very first thing a modder does is implement bright skins to make players pop out of all that gloss and reflection.

They've talked a lot about making the characters jump out with brighter color skins. It seems nobody wants more UT3 all-muddy style.

I hope they add that. That was kinda cool :D

Really? Like UT3? Have you played UT3? There is no DOF or colour retouching in post in UT15. In fact, I'd say it's one of the damn clearest looking next-gen titles. There is alittle but of bloom, but that is not even close to UT3s ridiculous amount of blurry, grainy bloom. Also, post processing is adjustable via a slider in-game.

I played when I arrived home, the team deathmatch showcase map is very nice - it still runs acceptably well on my PC. Initial level load time was a bit long, but once loaded it performed nicely. I'm only running at 1080p though, so that helps I'm sure. I'd say that they took the best of UT3 (higher poly models) and used it to release the design lovechild of UT99 and 2003/4 if you want quick twitch mechanics, this has them. I'm hoping they can throw in some of the game types that ut2003/4 had where team cooperation is the goal. Fragging in a DM game is still fun, but boy mt reaction time is not there!

Have to wonder whether he has played UT3, UT15's color palette doesn't solely consist of dreary browns/greys, the HUD has been completely redesigned and the player models are no longer bulky GoW wannabe rejects.

How am I first hearing of this!? I'm so grabbing this when I get home. I STILL play UT3, 2004, and the original lol.

This alpha once the word gets out is going to explode. A free game (when it goes retail as well I've heard) of this caliber is going to draw a crowd. The match creation system is pretty rocky, but it's still alpha.
