ASUS is downgrading me to a GTX 780 on a GTX 780Ti RMA

You guys are going to get a kick out of this. After all this wait, I got my package today. They sent me a GTX 780 Ti DC2 card instead of the 980 they reserved for me.

Thats about 17% to 33% of the life of the card wasted for a gamer that keeps up with image quality.
For the trouble and loss of use I would want a lot more than 17% back. Yet they gave nothing except rip off offers, stress, wasting time and a poor end result.
They didnt tell you what they were doing so there was no way to agree/disagree.
Asus aftercare.

Next time go EVGA man, it's not worth the hassle with these other brands.

I've never known an RMA process to entail a negotiation process

You must be blind.
He negotiated a GTX970.
But he didnt get one.
They didnt communicate the change or get his approval.

amazing sense of entitlement LOL simply amazing

the 970 brings it out like none other

That's the problem with ASUS and a lot of poor customer service companies. They think when they change something so long as it seems OK to them it is OK to the customer. Hey a 780 isn't much different thatn a 780ti right? I have seen sprint try to do this to people with phone insurance it's pathetic and it is 100% a clear decision to prey on uninformed customers. Second it was very clear at some point that they were completely dropping the ball on this guy CS wise. At that point a special person should have been appointed to MAKE SURE they made things right. Instead ASUS continues to operate like giant bunch of idiots whom don't communicate with anyone, not the consumer or each other.

I have heard many stories like this one with ASUS and it is very sad because it has made it so I will NOT recommend their products to anyone whom is not tech savvy or patient with these matters even when they have a clear winner in the product category. The ASUS ultrabooks are very nice and good looking but sadly I will much rather steer people to almost anything else because there are many things that can go wrong in a laptop. IME GPUs are usually too close in price for me to bother with a company like ASUS.

Man what a bunch of bullshite. At this point I would sell the 780ti and Gene. Move on to a brand like EVGA and at least have the peace of mind to know you most likely won't have to face a clusterfrick like this again should something go wrong.

He was supposed to get a 980, a premium card to replace another (more so at the time it was out) premium 780 ti for the sheer trouble of how long they gave him the runaround.

Yeah, brah, that'll scare 'em!!
I thought you were out?

OP, you have every right to be upset and you should raise whatever hell you can. Don't give in because some people don't think you deserve better.

I went to message Jolene and touch base with her to let her know I received the package however it wasnt the 980 we agreed upon. Will update when I get a response from that bit.

And this is exactly why I refuse to purchase ASUS products anymore. They may have nice hardware, but if it breaks you might as well just throw it away. It is not worth the time trying to get them to send you a replacement, much less a working replacement.

I really would like the staff here to get on ASUS' case about it, but from what I have seen(always silent in threads like this), they don't want to get involved with it.

I know. I was referring to nenu, not the OP.

nenu is so stuck on the 970 that he's posting in all the threads about it and even posted that the OP was supposed to get a 970. that's why I made that comment.

Good luck with Jolene. I would try to give her hell in the most courteous and professional manner possible. Hopefully she does the right thing and ships you what you agreed upon. We're rooting for you.

Wow, a lot of anti-Asus sentiment in this thread. I had no idea their customer service has fucked over so many people. Talk about shooting yourself in the foot, huh? Asus might have to step out of the enthusiast sector if they wind up with no more enthusiasts to buy their products.

Glad you at least got a Ti in the end, but they fucked you around and promised a 980 and you should receive a goddamned 980 for your trouble.

Yeah, make sure it's a real fancy one! :D

Damnit! Good catch. Will edit~

It's great they finally sent you a working card, but after 4 months of runaround, and them trying to downgrade you because they had no more cards (which is obviously a lie since they sent you one finally) the deal you worked out with their rep should have been held to.

That's just totally unacceptable. It's not like they were doing you a favor. They were simply honoring the terms of their warranty to you, which is legal and binding, by providing a card of equal or greater value. You should be sure and let her know that there's a huge thread on HardOCP talking to the enthusiast community about how Asus and she screwed you over and gave a big middle finger to all the rest of us that support Asus as well.

Oh yeah, EVGA mobo's, thats a real improvement

EVGA's QC has definitely been hit or miss and their designs/manufacturing are not always the best, but on the few occasions when I've had to deal with them for RMAs their customer service has been awesome. There is a certain value in that experience. Review sites and their associated forums help a lot with separating the wheat from the chaff with respect to their product offerings.

So... after going through 12 pages of posts, did OP ever get love from Asus on this?

wtf are you on about.
I meant to say 980, not that it matters because he didnt get it.
Stop trolling.

EVGA customer support is TOP NOTCH. Even when they shipped me a DOA item once they handled it in such a great way that they redeemed themselves.

Honestly, I am hesistant to use other brands bc EVGA has taken such good care of me. That being said, my last 2 mobos were Asus (they worked perfectly fine but there was always the voice in my head saying if I had a problem I was screwed).

My evga p67 board was perfectly fine but then a large portion of their mobo team left and I had to go Asus after that. If evga rebounds (or has rebounded already, I don't know) then I'll give them a shot again.

Well, at least the card works. But man, they really jacked you around. I'm guessing you won't be able to buy Asus for a while, right?
If a company screwed with me that hard I would never buy from them again and make sure to never recommend them to anyone.

I was watching this and fully expected them to send a gtx 980 just because of the bad press they got. I do everything in my power to avoid buying any product from them. Unless their product has some feature or ability that I can't get anywhere else I will not buy their products because of shit just like this. But usually they at least make an attempt to polish their image when there is enough bad feedback. Sorry it happened to you OP, but also glad I had another reminder why to avoid this company.

Truthfully my advise is hopefully everyone on the planet stops buying asus cards...there rep here is more than useless and doesn't give a fuck weather you pm him or not. Raja@ASUS is totally NOT interested in helping anyone and should be fired.....I'll probably get a punishment for posting this but when a vender rep wont even respond to pm's they are fucking "WORTHLESS".

There motherboards have always been pretty top notch but you have to be crazy to buy a card from them or expect any customer service from raja what so ever if any help is needed.

Fuck you Raja and your worthless boss who keeps you employed. I will not remain silent when vendor reps post here all the time but wont lift a finger to help customers especially when its there company's fault.

That's not been my experience.

Raja (and ASUS) helped me above and beyond when I had trouble with my motherboard.

Well then he should make a VERY clear he will not lift a finger if its anything other than a motherboard still under warranty. The xfx rep here and many others will get customers help when things happen. I personally pm's him twice regarding motherboards and didn't even get a response.

All he had to do was say sorry i cant help in that area or anything for that matter. What does is "NOTHING" as has been proven countless times with asus gpu threads here and for gods sake people need to know.
