you have got to be on crack if you actually believed they would give you a free upgrade.

Why? He shouldn't have believed they'd do what they said they'd do?you have got to be on crack if you actually believed they would give you a free upgrade.
You guys are going to get a kick out of this. After all this wait, I got my package today. They sent me a GTX 780 Ti DC2 card instead of the 980 they reserved for me.

Is it at least new?
No its not new!!! Looking at the PCB it almost looked like it had water on it before.
I would start reporting these guys to BBB
I've never known an RMA process to entail a negotiation processThey didnt tell you what they were doing so there was no way to agree/disagree.

He was supposed to get a 980, a premium card to replace another (more so at the time it was out) premium 780 ti for the sheer trouble of how long they gave him the runaround.the 970 brings it out like none other
I thought you were out?Yeah, brah, that'll scare 'em!!
I know. I was referring to nenu, not the OP.He was supposed to get a 980, a premium card to replace another (more so at the time it was out) premium 780 ti for the sheer trouble of how long they gave him the runaround.
Good luck with Jolene. I would try to give her hell in the most courteous and professional manor possible.
Damnit! Good catch. Will edit~Wow, a lot of anti-Asus sentiment in this thread. I had no idea their customer service has fucked over so many people. Talk about shooting yourself in the foot, huh? Asus might have to step out of the enthusiast sector if they wind up with no more enthusiasts to buy their products.
Glad you at least got a Ti in the end, but they fucked you around and promised a 980 and you should receive a goddamned 980 for your trouble.
Edit:
Yeah, make sure it's a real fancy one!
At this point I would sell the 780ti and Gene. Move on to a brand like EVGA and at least have the peace of mind to know you most likely won't have to face a clusterfrick like this again should something go wrong.
Oh yeah, EVGA mobo's, thats a real improvement
So... after going through 12 pages of posts, did OP ever get love from Asus on this?
I know. I was referring to nenu, not the OP.
nenu is so stuck on the 970 that he's posting in all the threads about it and even posted that the OP was supposed to get a 970. that's why I made that comment.
EVGA's QC has definitely been hit or miss and their designs/manufacturing are not always the best, but on the few occasions when I've had to deal with them for RMAs their customer service has been awesome. There is a certain value in that experience. Review sites and their associated forums help a lot with separating the wheat from the chaff with respect to their product offerings.

Yes the card at least works
If a company screwed with me that hard I would never buy from them again and make sure to never recommend them to anyone.Well, at least the card works. But man, they really jacked you around. I'm guessing you won't be able to buy Asus for a while, right?

. Sorry it happened to you OP, but also glad I had another reminder why to avoid this company.
Truthfully my advise is hopefully everyone on the planet stops buying asus cards....
That's not been my experience.
Raja (and ASUS) helped me above and beyond when I had trouble with my motherboard.
