Diablo 3 Discussion Thread

Anyone wanna group up next Friday for Season 2? I'll probably be playing regular since my clan mate is off playing Guild Wars 2 or something :(. Plus I need to get a good character on regular, my wizard is mediocre and the other characters suck :(

I'll be playing Hardcore when Season 2 starts. I'll get my battletag and post it when I have a chance

Thanks. Any guess on the explosion size?

Not 100% sure, but it's not that important since they only do around 20ish million damage. You do 500% more damage(with certain skills) for 3 seconds after one of them explodes, doesn't matter where.

I'll be playing 16 hours a day in HC until Tuesday but I have I already have a couple of people are running with me.....I hope I am not the first to die but considering I'm a barb I probably will be.

Here's his profile:

Nothing special there. A cache dagger, and 2 crafted pieces. The Crimson set and Leoric's Crown give him most of his CDR.

edit: Just noticed he has Empowered Shrine for the whole run. Lame...

this is pretty top of the line gear its almost all ancient or near perfect.

Krieg showed me how to make Hellfire Amulets last night.
My second attempt for my HC Wiz...

In the future, don't waste your machines in solo games.
Any 20% Fire / CC / CHD amulet would be better than that HF, since Wizard doesn't have any 5th passives that really outweigh the damage loss.

I do already have +109% fire damage, heh

edit: also, Krieg was online again during my lunch as he got in on it as well.

Unstable Anomaly as the passive on a HardCore wizard beats out 20% fire damage every day.

This is 10000 times better than any hellfire amulet I have gotten congrats.

Heh, thanks for the run! Both my amulets rolled horrible though, instant salvages :/.

As for the ideal amulet, it's almost impossible to find one that rolls elemental/chd/chc and a socket. His secondary rolled really good too, so I would say that hellfire is worth it.

para 582, found my first smk

spent 500 million gold trying to get 10% dmg, never happened

Monks are viable again and its ALL people play

I'll be sticking with my cold CA or fire multi DH. Monks don't interest me at all, mine is T6 capable but I find it boring. I'm hoping to get my fire DH on the leader boards, never tried (seriously) before.

I'm still aggravated in the WD's. The pet build is still useless above Grift 36 as pets instantly die for the most part. Only chance you have is voodoo+hex pants for quick hard hits with a lot of AS.

Pets were clearing GR43-44 last I checked a few weeks ago, maybe higher now. You have to use Tiklandian, though.
I did GR40 on Hardcore with MoJ the day 2.1.2 launched.

Flew through a gr34 with a crusader bowmen build. It was a fun change of pace from stampede. I'll have to see how I do with that 36 key...

It looks like Monks are close to permanent Serenity in GR's (immortal).
Similar concept as the old Lightning DH build.

Nerf hammer imminent if it goes any further.

Finally after hitting Paragon 609 I get my first Kridershot bow... too bad it rolled kinda meh...

"Monks" or one guy who has perfect gear with maxed CDR?
"DH" or the one guy with perfect gear and maxed IAS%?
Blizzard nerfed it, anyway.

You need Leoric's + Diamond, crafted Crimson pieces, and a vigilante belt. So hard...
An additional 20% from passive and 10% from Paragon.

It's the gear equivalent of old 4.15 breakpoint.

Except with a monk you still have to do something, while with the old DH build you just plopped down your sentries and sat around spamming SS.

For season 2 do I need to create a new character like in Season 1? Haven't paid much attention and only play sparingly so I figured I'd ask the experts.

Yes you do. I might even join you! I can't decide if I want to do seasonal shit when I don't actually play it that much

I miss it already...nothing like hitting a button and letting the game play itself ;)

Demon Hunters feel really odd right now. I don't know what it is, but the gameplay feels extremely choppy (Not FPS, the gameplay itself). I did a GR36 and it was pretty easy, except that I always ran out of hatred with the trash mobs.

I don't like it either, stopped playing mine. Everybody says it's because I'm a lazy casual, though.

DH is the only class in the game that still relies on their resource system and it makes the gameplay feel restrictive.
Cluster Arrow -> Evasive Fire -> Cluster Arrow -> Evasive Fire, repeat forever. Or you can spend that extra time looting health globes for Hatred regen.

It makes DPS feel like a chore, rather than a gameplay mechanic. It feels less like I'm battling demons and more like I'm battling the little red globe in the bottom right corner. Other classes can totally ignore resource management and focus entirely on the game itself while the DH's sole job is to control their Hatred. It's resource whack-a-mole.

I think it just represents a bigger problem with the Generator + Spender mentality Blizzard implements... If every class worked this way, I wouldn't play D3.
Not fun, at all. Just my opinion though. I prefer to ignore resources entirely and just focus on the game.

Hatred generation has always been a problem with DH. It doesn't regen fast enough on it's own and the skills used to regen hatred all suck. The old M6 "fixed" it by just not needing them. I rarely fire evasive fire, for me it's just CA - CA - CA - vault for health globe, repeat.

I don't mind it too much but then again it's the only t6 viable class I have so I don't have much choice atm. I'm using it to gear other guys.

I'm surprised the monk is that much ahead of everyone else.

Gungdo Gear. That's all that needs to be said on that topic I think.

I still think Demon Hunters are going to be able to get higher, mainly because their single target damage is much better than monks.

Try using Preparation with the rune that gives ya 75 hatred. With using reaper wraps and that I almost never run out of Hatred...

In solo T6 I never run out, since elites usually take 1-2 cluster arrows and they are dead. The RG may force me to use preparation, but that depends on if the CA's decide they want to hit the target or just fly off into the sunset :p. In Greater Rifts it's pretty easy to run out of hatred, especially when trash mobs have 1 billion+ HP.

Not paying attention recently?

Been paying perfect attention. Barb GR 60, DemonHunter 53, Wizard 51, Monk 50, 49 for the other 2. Historically people never played the monk more then twice the amount of the next highest class. When I play public games I don't see Monk twice as often as other classes.

Gungdo Gear is going to be awesome and I do think that is one of the main reasons.

Most people from Season 1 / Non-seasonal don't already have Monks worth playing, so it makes more sense if you're going to start from scratch, you may as well do it in Season 2.
If you took a poll of the classes people were going to continue playing non-season, I imagine Monks would be a lot lower... Behind DH, for sure.

The new Gungdo is only partly responsible for the discrepancy. What you're seeing in the game right now isn't representative of what you'll see in Season 2.

Going by Reddit and the D3 forums, Monk is being hyped to FUCK right now. Even moreso than M6 DH at the start of season 1.

Have you ever played crusader?

I have been trying to build a Rimeheart Wizard, and a Lighting Wizard. Both attempts are meh but T6 worthy. But not up to killing speed as my FB wizard.

Everyone picks a cookie cutter build. Farms, and then thinks they are good because that build happens to be extremely OP.

I play the game to enjoy it. I dont play classes just because they are the most powerful.

Personally I have fun when I clear rifts quickly. There's something about seeing every monster on the screen just instantly die :D.

You mean put 3 spells on auto-rotation and spam Condemn / Stampede?
It's basically the same thing as bell monks right now.

Lol, yeah dh is the real thinking mans build. Neither is that easy when actually trying to run higher level grifts. Especially depending on your gear. I can tell that you've never run a grift with a condemn build. Stampede and condemn even play entirely differently.

Definitely need to worry about wrath management with most gr30 crusader builds. Only one that I can think of where I didn't was a pet build.

If they don't use a generator, then you don't have to "worry" about resource as much as DH do.
Multishot is a viable M6 build with no generator but it can only take you so far.

All of the top M6 builds involve Evasive Fire - Focus (usually), as far as I know there are precisely 0 other classes that use generators at all. Barb maybe? Roland Crusader?
