They have both a BOINC subproject and another subproject using a Java based client.

So, since they are putting in trophies, I figured why not another recognition thread. This project has trophies for a wide scale of things. Some of which are just for participating with a specific segment of their work. If you would like to share your latest accomplishment, please post here.

My highest badge based on points today is: The Gigabyte (33,800)
I have overall 51 trophies though.

SkyNet is a DC project? I always just thought it was what I named my multi-socket servers lol. I hope we don't put too much hardware on skynet, it may become self aware... :(
lol

I just got Boron trophy. (62,500 points) This makes 57 trophies I have obtained.

I got a 2G usb key, t-shirt, coffee mug and baseball cap...

I currently have Fluorine and a total of 81 trophies.

I've been having fun with this project for the last 4-1/2 days. Started WU's on 20JAN at 0:00 GMT and just crossed 1,540,000 points on 24JAN at 0700 GMT.
*edited to add GMT. Am now at 2,118,000 as of 25JAN @ 0900 GMT*

Notable recent achievements:

Elementals = Sodium

Voyage through the Messier catalogue = M110 (1,000 Galaxies)

Daily Planets = Voyager 1

I'm rather proud of that last one, silly as it might be. Only 77 users out of the registered 283,849 have been awarded that; and on our team, I'm the 3rd. (Grandpa and DooKey were 1st and 2nd)

I picked up the Sodium trophy today. That makes 60 total trophies for me.

Nice! How many cores do you have working on POGS?

Yeah... I overlooked that we had a challenge at BOINCStats to join. So, we are about 4 days late to the party but he is doing a fine job pushing us up the ranks already with is insane amount of hardware on POGS. I'm moving a few ARM devices over until the Enigma challenge on the 8th. Plus, POGS decided to not only create a special badge for the challenge but also are going to randomly select a participant to receive a pirate themed Lego set...

I forgot all about the challenge, as well. I have just dedicated all of my cores to it. Granted, I only have 34-40 CPU cores to use at any given time (lightweight, I know), depending on what GPU work I have running, but these cores should help us in the challenge.

Am now at 5,905,000 points and have the Phosphorus badge.

*EDIT - I was a tired dumbass when I originally stated 256 cores; that would be including hyperthreading. Sorry*

Have 128 2.4Ghz E5 cores, plus another 50+ of other misc cores going.

Really wish I knew this was coming up. :p I had stopped all work on POGS a couple days and moved over to PrimeGrid; figured I'd try and get one of those Tour de Prime jersey badges. However, I've re-enabled POGS on said 256 cores and disabled new WU's for PrimeGrid at the moment; although there are still a lot of WU's to be finished. I'll see how things are going in the morning and, if it makes sense, I'll just disable Prime for the remainder of the POGS challenge.

With limited exception, I've moved all the systems available to me over to POGS. One 4x E5-4640 box has some long running 123 Primes to finish and I want to make sure that happens. Otherwise all other work has been paused.

Not sure how the credit system works, meaning if it's different than the regular credit issued, but figure this should help pull us up to 5th.

Gilthanis / RFGuy_KCCO, maybe you two can reach out privately to some of the other heavy hitters on the team and see if they'll switch over for the remaining 47 hours. If they would, we might be able to surprise some folks. :)

I really, really need to pick up at least one MP system. My GPU's garner lot of points, sure, but I want to do more CPU work.

Also, in Boinc circles anyway, when discussing numbers of "cores," most of the time people include the HT "cores" in their count. I always thought this was odd, but I think this is done because real cores + HT "cores" is the real indicator of the number of CPU tasks that can be run at one time. So, your original count of 256 was what I was looking for. I can only dream about running 256 WU's at one time! Yes, I am envious! :D

RFGuy_KCCO - Multi-socket systems are a lot of fun . :) I've always been honest that I'm using hardware that's otherwise sitting idle; lately I've been lucky enough to have quite a few systems at my disposal. Lately I've had 16 E5-4640 V1/V2 sockets, plus a smattering of others. The bulk of those been tearing through "OET" on WCG; but did set a few aside for POGS.... which brings me to the reason for updating this thread. ;)

Crossed 10,000,000 points a couples days ago (10,530,xxx now), am ranked #118 in the world, have processed over 5,500 galaxies and have just reached the "Argon" trophy. :) All of that in less than two months.

At this point I'm not quite sure what I want to do; which isn't helped by the fact that the WUs have temporarily dried up. It's 2.5M to the next trophy. Am kind of thinking I'd like to reach the Top 100... guess we'll see how things go if/when the project comes back online. :)

Achieved Vanadium last night (27,984,100 credits, 37 people have this one)

Am now at #36 on the leader board with ~28,235,000 points; but should be hitting #35 within the hour and #34 in ~24 hours. This will be my first 30M point project.

Grandpa has slipped out of the Top 5! :( There's a team challenge coming up in 15 days, so maybe he'll come play and take back his spot on the Top 5 berth. :)

After the long downtime due to whatever-it-was that afflicted the project, I'm at ~61,116,xxx points and took 12th place on the global leaderboards back on September 5th.

The 60M reward was 'The Pawsey'.

Not sure what the next one is, as it's at 100,000,000 points and honestly doubt I'll stick around long enough to find out. :p Seriously though; a 40M gap to the next trophy is pretty crazy.

Pretty sure I'm done with POGS for the time being. :) My birthday is on the 12th, so that spot suits me just fine.... for now. ;)

That is an amazing achievement fastgeek. Awesome job!

After getting sucked back into this project during the Pentathlon I decided two things: I wanted to reach the 100M trophy and I wanted to reach #5 on the leader board.

Started on June 6th (with some time off for Rosetta [?] during the race) at 61,803,402 points in 13th place.

As of today, July 28th, I've reached those two goals. :) RAC was around 850K for a while, which helped a lot.

What's more, in that same amount of time, the Team has gone from ~15th place to 9th. :D

The next trophy is at 500M, which is bat shit insane. Thought the stretch from 60M>100M was absurd, but this takes the cake. Even if I were able to keep throwing all this hardware at this project 100% of the time, it would take 60 weeks to get there; however I can't and won't. Chances are the folks at theSkyNet never thought anyone would reach 100+M and just set out crazy goals. The sad truth is, a lot of us really do enjoy those little digital rewards... many BOINC programs would do well to consider that.

Chances are I'll let these systems keep at this project for another week or so, to hopefully cement my 5th place for a while; then it's on to something else.

Congrats fastgeek! (y)(y)(y) It makes my other contributions so minuscule when compare to yours. You're still having Thing02 in your possession?

If you're considering for the next project, what about this? No pressure, you're free to choose. Maybe you want to eat some of brilong's pie?

fastgeek, you can also suggest badges if you have a cool idea for one. I'm sure they would consider something else more reasonable like 250M or something if you brought it up. They are sometimes slow to reply but that is an option. theSkyNet • View topic - Trophy Ideas

Pututu, thanks. In some projects sometimes we're occasionally lucky to be a big fish and it's always fun. :D Was very lucky to have a lot of hardware to abuse for a while (Thing01 is gone, Thing02 is somewhat still available; plus many others) and decided I wanted to be the big dog at POGS for a while. That said, their WUs have run dry... so.... just spun up all the boxes I could easily find (never have been good at using BOINC Manager, would make my life easier!) and snagged ~3k WUs for WCG. In a few days I might take a good sized slice from the daily production pie. :p

Gilthanis, that would require some creativity on my part. *lol* One thing that really did suck my into POGS was the large cabinet of trophies wanting to be obtained; however after 60M it falls flat. Running through the RAC trophies was a lot of fun, yet it tops off at ~120K, which I surpassed by nearly 6x at one point. If I ever think of something though, I'll remember this thread and let them know. :)
