2.) The PWM frequency on the S27A950D is 180hz
Thank you for posting that. I learned something today. I was hesitant about the Philips due to all of this talk about PWM despite it sounding great in all other aspects except for the stand, and yet I didn't realize that I had used an S27A950D for nearly two years prior to my current LG 34" without a single issue...and its PWM frequency is even lower than the so-called "horrible" 240hz of the Philips.
Not worried about it anymore. I'm not saying that it's not an issue for anyone else, or that the use of PWM in this monitor is a good thing, but I for one am not going to be put off by it. Let's put it this way: if this monitor does eventually see a North American release and there is no better alternative at this size, it's a sure buy for me.
Thanks everyone for the additional information, both good and otherwise, on this monitor during the past few pages. It has definitely helped me. Just a shame that the discussion has to get so intense sometimes...after all, at the end of the day it's only a freaking piece of electronics! Who cares if someone else doesn't like it and you do, or vice versa.
