Benq BL3200PT (32" 1440p)

I dont know why nobody read the f.. manual ... guys follow the
Link: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WCRq2pbUr8o

There is nothing in the manual saying that AMA should be switched off for desktop usage.

I downloaded your picture, opened it with Windows picture viewer, zoomed two steps and when I move the picture with my mouse, I don't get any flashing. I tried with all AMA settings.

So maybe BenQ has changed something?

I returned this Monitor as well about 2 weeks ago for all issues described here.

Now, i am deciding if i should go with new version (if you can call it like that) 4K.

Its $350 bucks more here in Canada ://

I got one of these a bit over a month ago, did all the flashing tests back then and didn't notice anything (granted I may have just done them wrong).

Just tried playing Skyrim again for the first time since owning it and noticed some heavy flashing, noticed a little bit yesterday in sunny areas of Witcher 2 as well.

I'm going to hang onto it for now and wait and see if a firmware update could fix it, however unlikely that may be. I figure I've got three years to return it so not much point now I'm out of the return window (for a refund) of the place I bought it from.

Not sure if the issues developed over time but I never noticed it before the past couple of days.

Its just sad - that stuff like this are happening on such a expensive "professional" monitors.

Yep. I went through 3 ROG Swift's (extra $200) before this one, those all just seemed like such terrible panels though, had numerous dead pixels, clouding and the last one had a bright spot (was the only one of the 3 that the bottom of the monitor got very warm).

After dealing with sending those back continually I'd rather not have to go without a monitor for another extended period of time once again, quite frustrating really. Now it's just a matter of trying to find a monitor that doesn't have these issues, something that things of this amount of money shouldn't have.

I completely understand, and i am going through same situation.

That is why i am considering 4K version of "this" monitor.

It costs more money, its more "bullet proof 4k vs 2k - but also a lot of more gpu hungry" , but at least (so far) that one person in that thread is not reporting all these issues reported in this thread.

$1130 in Canada is a loooooooooot for a Monitor, i do work from home, i need bigger Monitor then 24" (27", 28" or 32" is perfect, but, can't live with all issues i went through with previus Monitor for this $$)

I really don't know what to do any more.

I can order\return if i don't like it, but, man, i am so tired of going to stores to return it, people from Bestbuy, Futureshop, NCIX and Canadacomputers already know me very very well.

" You AGAIN?! " (when they see me :) )

Yeah, I think the main thing is I would be pretty unhappy if it made a game I've been looking forward to unplayable (like The Witcher 3 for example).

Think I would definitely send it straight back if it were to come to that.

Sorry to repeat myself. But don't be satisfied with poor quality. All this will do is cause the manufacturers to be lazy. I went through this rubbish 3 times then gave up. My money will be used elsewhere.

More urls to check if your BL3200PT flickers

Click "Earth" in the bottom left if Map shows up. Let the webpage fully load first then try panning and zooming a few times around these areas to be sure as sometimes it won't flash in the first instance.

I tried all those with Firefox and also with Chrome, windowed and maximized, zoomed and panned. There was no flashing.

That's good to know. Maybe it's the new firmware or Benq has improved their QC in the Oct batch or both. Those manufactured from April to Sept seems to be more susceptible to have the flashing problem.
Does your panel has banding?

Yes, there is one band 1/4 from the left side and another weaker band 3-4 inches right from the center of the screen. Those don't bother me in desktop usage, for some reason they seem to disappear with static program windows or webpages scrolled down/up. But gaming with sideways movement probably shows them all the time...

Getting flashing on all of those, I remember trying the second Google earth link or similar when I first got the monitor, tried for a pretty long time and didn't notice any flashing.

I'm still not sure whether it has always flashed or not, but honestly I didn't notice it once in prior time using this monitor, now as of only recently I'm seeing it a lot.

Honestly though I went with this monitor in the first place as I'm in Australia and Benq warranty can be managed within the country, as opposed to dealing with a company like Asus which
would likely cause some headaches. It's a shame a purchase of a monitor has to be so highly influenced on an expectancy of problems, seems like that with a lot or even most on the market currently.

Apart from this issue the monitor is great. I guess it depends to what extent it will be bothersome in vital programs at 1440. I don't think there is an alternative at this size?

I am glad mine do not flash or flicker on those links, tried the ARMA screenshot too and played a bit of skyrim.

I guess it's about date, even I just got one, it's made in June.

No flashing here. Mine was made in May.

This Monitor is on pretty good sale @ Bestbuy (Canada).

http://www.bestbuy.ca/en-CA/product...spx?path=bcba926743aabb63c5c20570291c631ben02

I wish it did not have all issues described here \ or at least (majority of users).

I did own one a couple weeks ago, and had to return it due to flickering and other issues described here.
It was manufactured in August.

Still thinking if i should get this, and try it one more time ://

Paid 627.X at ME by price matching with Amazon, now they have it in ME for 599.99 too, maybe I can still get a price match, since it's within 7 days.

If not, I am not going to be mad as I am happy that I got one with June production date.

ME also put UM95 on sale for 899, amazing deal... If they didn't already sold all their stock during the 999.99 sale.

I can confirm that the flickering issue does not happen on the BL3201PT with AMVA at high/premium.
So it seems to be a VA panel issue with the BL3200PT only.

They received the order, i ordered it from bestbuy, will see when it comes.

I am pretty happy with pricing, hope Monitor will be okay.

In my personal opinion, i would love more to have 1440P version of this monitor then 4K, but, if this doesn't work well, i might be switching it for 4K.

I don't like all that Windows scaling, poor software scaling support (as i already owned 4k monitor), but, in the end it might look better then 28" 4K monitor i had, on this size 32".

Will see, \ report how this works out for me.

Thanks guys

i just got the two of them working.. didnt flicker playing games like WOW, football manager 2015, war thunder, COH2, Civ beyond earth, Elite Dangerous. or websurfing.

my wallpaper is grey and i can see a small banding if you look closely but. nothing that really bothers me.

The monitors are awesome, it looks incredible, the blacks are beautiful in games like Elite Dangerous (Space game)

Very nice, looks awesome! :)

What was the manufacturing date on the box, if you don't mind sharing?

What exactly do you mean by banding?

Thanks

Banding or not banding ? Test with this ;-)
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NxWeH-M3O6M

if you got banding, you have vertical lines when the video arrives with the sky ( in grey color )

This level of banding is like minor backlight bleed. It's there but realistically you won't notice them 99.99% of the time.

I think every BL3200T will show some banding, but I would consider the panel to be good as long as it doesn't flesh or flicker on amra3/google earth and banding is not visible out side of those tests

Just for reference sake mine has flashing with a manufacture date of July. Doesn't bother me enough to return yet it as I never really see it in normal use, wouldn't mind being able to play Skyrim though for old times sake but it's not that much of an issue.

Otherwise it's a great monitor and I'm glad I got it. I'll wait and see what Benq does about the issue and go from there.

I purchased this monitor (again - 2nd time) for BOXING day, should arrive next week.

First Monitor i had, had all issues (pretty bad) described here.

Will see how this one will end up in the end.

I honestly hope i won't have to return it again, as, i don't even know what else to get for 2K.

Seems June or before = no fleshing, July or after = fleshing.

Taken from another forum :

1) 12/15/14 at 2:05pm Blameless : Mine was made in May, and it definitely has this artifact.
2) I actually got a replacement the first time and it had the same problems. First time I had August manufacturing date which had the flickering and that weird thing with green and magenta test. The second was September and it had the flickering but it wasn't as bad.

Got a replacement in a few days ago and this one is a lot better. The flicker is still there in Origin but only when switching between My Games and Store. I don't see it in the 3 links that were provided earlier. It's there in Arma 3 at the start bit but I don't really play it so not too bothered. The reason why I might keep it is because there is next to none back light bleed. Compared with the last which was worse. I'm going to check again but I get that impression when using it. If you reduce the sharpness to 1 then the flickering seems to disappear and when I accessed the OSD it disappeared as well although was visible again when exiting the OSD, not sure if that is unusual. However sharpness at 1 looks bad to me. I haven't tried 2/3 sharpness. Manufacturing date is September 2014.

In the games where the flickering is visible, how about switching to windowed or full screen windowed?

I've been lurking in this thread for a while as I shopped for a new monitor. I was pretty dead set on this one until I started reading about all these flickering problems. I went back and forth, but decided to give it a shot by getting one from Best Buy (Canada) for $599 because of the no questions asked return policy (and because I can take it directly to the store instead of shipping it back).

I am happy to report that all is well with my monitor! I've tried various google maps links and test images in this thread and no flickering (my AMA is set to High). On top of that, no vertical banding that I can detect either.

My manufacture date is March 2014 which I thought was odd since I just ordered it 2 days ago. I know some were speculating that the earliest panels were problem free. I don't know if that's the case, but I thought I'd mention it.

I am blown away by the contrast of this thing. The image in games and movies just pops like nothing I've seen before. Even 1080p out of the PS4 looks nice. I've owned a VA panel in the past (BenQ GW2760HS) and it's not even in the same league. The image quality is so much better.

Anyway, thanks for all the info (even if you almost convinced me not to get it). ;)

I bought it from Bestbuy (CA) as well, couple days ago.

Waiting on it to be delivered, either tomorrow or day after.

Hopefully i will be lucky, but, i doubt it, as the first time i got it from Futureshop (though) it was (as i remember) manufactured in August ://

I will buy yours for $50 more what you paid if this doesn't work for me :D hahah

Ran the video, there's no banding. Also tried that image already from the second video. No flashing.

As for settings, I used my Spyder4Pro to calibrate. Definitely used Gamma 1 as the starting point. I calibrated to around 150-160 cd/m2 and 6500k, but I'm still looking for a sweet spot in terms of brightness. The "88" suggestion from that image would burn out my retinas :p

Yeah, I was surprised when they delivered it on a Sunday. Guess they are trying to get a head start on all of the boxing day sale packages. Pretty sure Future Shop and Best Buy are from the same warehouse (also owned by same company), but maybe they got to these March 2014 ones at the back of the shelf or something :p Good luck

Thanks

I just checked tracking # , and it should be delivered tomorrow.

Fingers crossed. :)

Do you think that setting gamma to 1 i.e. gamma 2.2. actually looks good? I find that it makes the picture look flat/washed out. And it also makes VA-panel's gamma raising effect much worse, i.e. picture is brighter when watched off center and gamma 2.2 makes this more noticeable.

After some internet reading, I'm not sure if 2.2 really is the correct value to use. I think I'll calibrate to gamma 2.4-2.45. Now I'm using 2.6 (with default 3 setting) but that causes too dark picture shadow details when watched straight ahead.

It's not washed out for me (though when I view it uncalibrated it looks slightly washed out by comparison -- that may be the difference). It's all subjective though. It's your display, use what looks good for you. However if you want color accuracy you probably need to be somewhere in the 2.2 range, I am guessing.

I've since recalibrated down to 120 cd/m2. 160 was just too bright for me for extended periods with a monitor this size (for me anyway).

Its flickering like crazy. - blah.

Its going back to the store.

Bendak - you were 200% lucky, good luck with that Monitor man :)
If you decide to sell it any time soon, yell (my way) :D
