Dell P2715Q / P2415Q (3840x2160p, IPS, sRGB)

User review up from Asia:

http://www.hkepc.com/forum/viewthread.php?tid=2144447

Monitor looks like it's matte with anti-glare coating. HDMI 1.4, 60Hz through DP, has an adjustable stand.

For some reason there is a menu option for "MST" even though you can clearly see 3840x2160 @ 60Hz with MST select as "off."

Thanks, certainly looks promising.

From reading the manual, MST is there so you can chain a secondary monitor using a single dp cable attached to your computer.

Can't wait to receive it ( c'mon dell, ship me my monitor already ! )

Has anyone received their monitor yet or a shipment notification? My order still has a status of "in production" so I'm starting to doubt that 12/5 estimated arrival date.

In case it wasn't obvious, I'm excited to receive it :)

No, I have the same estimated arrival date. Had a chat yesterday with Dell but they have no information when it will start shipping, only that I should receive it around 12/5.

I ordered on Nov 14.

Same here. I checked the product page and ship date is 12/17 for ones ordered today.

I'm pleasantly shocked at the price points on both of these. I'm not sure how it's possible.

Thanks for posting this. I was getting kind of worried. I was hoping to play with this by Friday and through the weekend.

I'm seeing the same ship 12/1 and rec'd by 12/5 dates.

Just got a notification from Dell this morning saying my delivery date has changed to 12/17...

Same here. Call up, threaten to cancel and they "might" offer you $50 off to keep the order active.... Do not settle for a gift card!

Strange, didn't receive the same email. Maybe I'll get it later...
I was counting this as my christmas gift to myself but didn't expect it to received it this close to christmas.

Can't wait to see reviews of these, the P2415Q seems perfect. I think dual 23-24" is perfect for work, I'd just run them with 200% scaling for 1080p retina...

Are there any video cards that support 2x 3840x2160@60Hz? Or do I have to wait for cards with displayport 1.3?

I don't see why a card with two DP 1.2 ports wouldn't support that config. I believe the GTX 970 and 980 can, though you should verify beforehand.

Received an email indicating that my P2715Q has shipped on Friday. I should receive it Tuesday or Wednesday.

I'll post my impressions once i set it up. :)

Looking forward to this Monitor since I never tried a 4k and the last 24" Dell had problems up the yin yang.
Plus it was double the Price like a year and a half ago the last 24" 4K

Dell neglected to send my shipment confirmation, so I wasn't home when UPS tried to deliver my 27" today.

I have been following this thread for a while, decided to post. I ordered a 24' on December 2nd, and it was shipped out yesterday. Just a PSA for anyone who ordered the 24' model.

I ordered a U2715H before I saw the 2 new 4k models. The day after ordering I called Dell and asked them to replace the monitor model.

My order is now waiting for me to choose but these 2 new models are not available here in Brazil yet.

UP2414Q is available here in Brazil, but it is not capable of displaying lower resolutions at full screen (in case I want to play games not at 4k), is that true?

Alexis, you can play games at lower resolutions in full screen if you switch the monitor to DisplayPort 1.1. However, you cannot go higher than 1920x1200 and get 60 hz.

But this is on my NVIDIA videocard and Windows 7/8 - AMD cards may behave differently.

Keep in mind the UP2414Q does not support SST - this is probably the reason why resolutions are very limited on the UP2414Q, at least for NVIDIA videocards.

You can use HDMI as an alternative, to get scaling to full screen at lower resolutions. But again, cannot go higher than 1920x1200 and still get 60 hz.

I would not recommend the UP2414Q at this time.

Thanks for the reply.

That (and all the bugs I read about) is why I am not interested in the UP2414Q. I will wait for the new 2 model be available here then.

Ok, I just got it and have it out of the box and hooked up. I previously tried the 28 UHD samsung but the colors and stand were deal breakers.

build quality is exactly the same as the existing P series all good there.

Colors are fantastic, same for viewing angles

It does does have some IPS glow... not horrible but present.

Very little backlight bleed... I have a very small amount in the lower left.

Tried a little BF4 and response time seems comparable to the existing P line. Its no ROG Swift but extremely playable. I would think its around 12-16ms like other IPS panels.

If there are any dead pixels I can't see them.. haha definitely no bright pixels.

For myself I sit rather close to my monitor and 150% scaling looks really good and my Mac hooked up to it looks even better.. I have it set to "like 2560x1440"

Overall I'm very impressed, I was worried about backlight bleed but must have lucked out.

1) Are you running it at 4k @60 hz?

2) Using displayport 1.2?

3) MST ON or OFF?

4) Which graphic card? Any driver issues?

Been looking forward to the 2715Q for a while. It'd be nice to see some coupon deals before Christmas.

From another forum. Hands on
Hey all,

I just got this monitor and plugged it in and it works on my MacPro 2010 running a GTX 780 3072 MB. I had to manually set the resolution to 3200 x 1800.

Still playing with it.

Here's my initial impressions:

- The style and finish is your typical Dell design....boring, etc.
- Anti-glare coating is good. No where near as glossy as the 27-inch Cinema Display.
- Brightness on this display is amazing. I currently have it on "Game" mode and it's brighter than my old 27-inch Cinema.
- Colors are excellent. It looks and feels like an Apple monitor. Extremely surprised.
- Everything is super crisp. I have a Retina MBp and immediately noticed everything was sharp.
- The included DP cable is about 6 feet long. Again, another please surprise.

Easy to setup - running @60Gz from PNY 680GTX (2Gb - unflashed) on a MacPro 5.1 8-code - came supplied with DP and USB cables long enough for my needs.

Running @ native - 3840x2160 - text is small but very usable.

Display quality great - not sure it's quite as good as my MBP but that may be the matt effect at work.

Anyhow, the real reason I picked this up is to get some good screen estate for Xcode development - and here's a screenshot to show what can be displayed (note this isn't even full screen) - I've put the code into normal presentation mode but I think I'd normally use smaller when I've got to grips with things. That storyboard is shown normal size not zoomed out.

One more user got his monitor
Got mine in. Looks great. 4K in Windows works surprisingly well with interface scaling at 150%. I was especially surprised since I had heard Windows scaling sucks hard.

I am running the display at 2560x1440 on OS X. All elements are ever-so-slightly soft, but the added effective resolution over my previous screen is very nice.

On colors, whites are great, and the overall reproduction seems better than my 2408W which is an Ultrasharp.

The display is super fast when switching inputs and responding to signal.

I can't think of any negatives really. Seems like a killer display.

Yes i am running 4k 60hz out of the box no problem

I did not change the default display port option but yes its on DP 1.2

MST is OFF

I have a gtx 980 and no issues whatsoever.

It is a super bright display, that 350 rating is accurate.

Loving it so far.

Here is a quick pic I'll try and post more tonight.

^^ That's beautiful! I may not wait for some coupons.

My inner Veruca Salt says... "I want it now!!"

Nice to hear Windows scaling is no issue.

You got the 24 or the 27 inch model? Would anyone notice PPI difference from 24" to 27" models?

Could you try lower resolutions to see if it is possible to play games with a higher frame rate at full screen? My Asus GTX 770 would appreciate :)

I got the 27 inch model, as for PPI I had the UP2414Q at one point and it was similar in terms of PPI I think I had to run 200% though for scaling.

I just tried BF4 at 2560 x 1440 and it looked really good actually. 1080p looked good but you could see there was a slight blur.

How would you compare UP2414Q vs P2715Q?

I would say these new models seem very close in terms of colors and overall performance. The reason i didn't keep the UP2414Q was because of the MST issues and it had horrible IPS glow.. these new ones have some but not nearly as bad as the UP24.

The P series it fine for my uses, I edit video, game and consume media. I am not doing extreme color work so the SRGB color space is fine for me.

Thanks a lot for the information

Now I need to wait for these new models to be available here in Brazil

Dumb question that I don't think I've seen specifically asked, but why are these Professionals and not Ultrasharps? Is there a specific, hard reason for the difference between the two lines outside of something like warranty?

Not dumb at all.

Dell might launch bigger (30 inch and bigger) ultrasharp models, as the UP2715K is "only" 27 inch.

Until now only Ultrasharp series can have wide gamut (Premier Color) Panels, but these new 2 P series (P2415Q and P2715Q) are listed as 1.07 billion colors (8 bit + FRC panel?).

That means they both are wide gamut? But without receiving the "Premier Color" tag?

From the user manual

"* P2715Q: Color gamut (typical) is based on CIE1976 (103.961%) and CIE1931 (77.6%) test
standards.
P2415Q: Color gamut (typical) is based on CIE1976 (102.28%) and CIE1931 (82.09%)
test standards."

For comparison, here is the spec from U2413 and U2713H, both Ultrasharp Premier Color models
- Color depth 1.07 billion colors
- 103%* (CIE 1931), 120% (CIE 1976)

U2415 (ultrasharp but NOT premier color)
Color depth 16.78 million colors
Color gamut CIE1976 (91%), CIE 1931 (76%), and sRGB coverage 99%

Is it possible to have the same color depth (1.07 billion colors), but lower CIE %?

Are P2415Q and P2715Q dead pixel warranty free?
