NCASE M1: a crowdfunded Mini-ITX case (updates in first post)

how much longer would ground shipping take? or is it just really uncertain? i am in california if that changes anything

This. A hundred times.

I had "ground" shipping on the M1v1 and while many in Europe got theirs in November, the slow-boat-from-China didn't show up in Holland until February.

20 bucks seems like nothing when you have weeks to watch others enjoy building their rigs in this fine case.

I could have sworn the check out page said it shipped from the US... Gonna try a test order and see if I'm crazy.

Sure enough... "Shipping from US by USPS Air"

just ordered a silver m1.. was really not going to as my plans have changed but ordered it to keep and eventually I will probably use it

but wanted to ask, all the M1 accessories.. these already come with the case no?

I just checked out .. so dont want to make a second order if i missed something useful -.-

The accessories are primarily for people that want spares.

Was just going to ask if there was ground shipping. I want to do ground shipping but I don't want to wait until Sunday and miss out on ordering one :( Is there a guarantee they wont be sold out before ground shipping is available?

Is there an estimate of when they would arrive for both shipping options? i know it says shipping starts on the 18th but does that mean if i get air shipping itll be there 2-3 days later? This info will decide which shipping I'll be getting.

Air shipping usually takes 5-8 days. Unless you live in Hong Kong, China, Macau or Japan, Surface shipping (Ocean freight + ground) will take 6-8 weeks.

Are we able to modify the order to change this? Or cancel the pre-order and submit it again with ground shipping? Really would prefer to save the $20, but not if that means losing out on securing an M1...

That should be fine.

Oh yes! I understand Saturday haha. Another thing, the case include panels and brackets, and buttons, usb ports and energy cable, right?

Yes, it's the a complete case.

I guess the accessories are causing some confusions huh...lol

Guys, the case will be shipped from taiwan, right? By air it's safety? I'm from Mexico and it's the first time send me sonething from there, first will be came to USA to USPS and there to Mexico?

It will ship from Taiwan to final destination.

The problem is the worker strike at shipping ports in California. The New York port is very congested, particularly due to the holiday season and the strike in California.

Fixed, that's a mistake, all M1 are shipped from Taiwan.

When ordering, are we supposed to receive a confirmatory email from ncase? I only got a confirm from paypal. I've sent a couple of emails to ncase without response.

Anyone know?

PayPal is the confirmation email.

Inbox is flooded at the moment, will get back to you before Monday.

Folks, I beg of you.. spend the extra $20 on air shipping!

That really is a bargain to get your case in only 1 week, versus the longest 2-month wait that you could possibly imagine (unless you really enjoy winter, and want it to seem twice as long) :p

Is there a list of confirmed changes to the case from V2 to V3?

M1 v3:
Braces added to bottom corners of chassis for increased rigidity/decreased probability of wobbling
0.3mm decrease in side and front panel height
Extra QC for wobbling & panel uniformity
Changed model ID plate to read "V3.0" in place of "V2.0"
SFX bracket raised 2mm and flange trimmed for better SFX-L support
Additional motherboard standoffs added for compact mATX boards (226x173mm max w/SFX bracket; see thread and google docs spreadsheet)
Slightly increased CPU cutout size

So the sfx-l psu, the 120mm fan silverstone one, should have no trouble fitting now with the bracket change? Seriously considering this since I've heard the 600w is quite noisy

Well, it's still going to be very tight with a long GPU. This is what it looks like with the V2 bracket. Obviously, 2mm of extra space isn't going to be that much better. The more significant improvement is cutting back the top flange so there's room for the cable, which you can see matien had to do manually. This will be incorporated into the V3 bracket.

Hey I saw the pre order is now up and running on the ncases website, what are the advantages of having an ODD slot? is it removable or is it "hard-wired" like if selected in the pre order options?

The ODD slot is just a simple slot cut into the top panel, which is tool-lessly removable. The actual brackets that hold the optical drive is in all versions of the chassis, so switching between ODD and non-ODD is as simple as changing the top panel.

What are the advantages of having an ODD slot? The advantage is that you can use an ODD.

Hmmm now to decide if the silence is with the hassle and less wattage...

Yes, I will add that Sunday when I make the update to the website.

Thank you. i am considering getting one as well

Is there any picture precise measurement how close fit SFX-L + v2 and new bracket are going to be gpu-wise?

I have reference gtx 980 and it has backplate, so i am kinda wondering how comfortable fit it will really be.

Anyhow, i just cant get it why silverstone had to do the 600w so ridiculously loud.

It's really not that loud at all. The fan just makes a very quiet chattery sound that's just barely audible enough to be slightly distracting and annoying :D

well, ive got two of these and both are loud to my ear when under load. Desktop is just fine...but its not really the point with 600w ones.

Also both made noise when turned off. Tweaking powersave settings enough made that bit quieter though. Still i rma'ed one of them, but unfortunately it didnt help.

Maybe we should quote some of the people in agony from the last time :D
There were certainly enough people saying something like:
"jeez if I know waiting 2 months would take this long, I would have spend $20 more"
"ah man everybody except me seems to have their case already, wish I'd gotten air shipping"

Anyway, I'm awaiting the PSU bracket availability for the better support for the SFX-L PSU's.
Maybe it would be adviseable to have the "accessories" page be called "Spare Parts" or something like that.

is the sx600's noise completely from the fan or is there also coil whine/buzz?

would it be possible to replace its fan with a funnel + some 120mm fan?

Oh alright I see, thanks man! Is there such super slim slot loading Blu ray writers existing products as of today?

People are also complaining about coil whine with the SX600-G.

dam... is the 450w gold sfx psu from silverstone better for acoustics?

i suppose 450w is sufficient for an overclocked 4770k + not heavily oc'd gtx 970

It won't be with load. My ST45SF-G was whisper-quiet unless stressed, then suddenly after a month or two it started making noise even at idle. People are saying it's the crappy bearings that fail sooner or later. I've done the popular fan mod (replacing the fan with a Noise Blocker 80x15mm fan) but atleast one person who has overclocked components on this PSU with the fan mod has an unstable system. The fan mod reduces the amount of airflow and thus when the PSU has a high load, it might not stay within the ATX specs.

I personally would wait on the 500W SFX-L that is due any day now. Tony Ou from Silverstone has said they have delayed release to find a better fan after having received a lot of critique on the noise with the ST45SF-G and SX600-G. And they should, they are on thin ice concerning PSU customer satisfaction, or atleast on this forum.

More than sufficient. I've got a Xeon E3-1240 (essentially an i5-2500 with Hyperthreading and no GPU) and a GTX 970 on the ST30SF (300W). It's not the quietest under load, but it works with no stability issues. It works if you just need a placeholder until the 500w SFX-L is available.

PayPal's foreign exchange rates "suck". Everybody gets screwed.

For my because the political things(reserve, oil, gas...) change the value of my money

The SX600-G buzzing? just yesterday i bought one

Another thing, which do you thing is the better headsikns? the fan size doesn't matter (92mm,120mm,140mm...), i want do some OC

The Archgon CB-5021 is a good deal on Amazon. For $110 you get the Panasonic UJ-265 blu-ray writer (6x), a slim SATA adapter, an OEM version of Cyberlink software (for blu-ray playback), and it comes assembled in a 5.25 bay adapter. The bay adapter is black plastic and you won't use it in the M1, but the price for all of the rest of the parts and software is decent.

Note that the data side of the slim SATA connector on these drives is the same as on hard drives and SSD drives. It's only the power connector that is smaller. My Silverstone SX-600 PS includes the slim SATA power connector at the end of one of the flat power cables.

The M1 comes with the following: screws for drive and fan mounting, rubber softmounts for drive mounting, 2.5" stacking brackets, ATX PSU bracket, 4x 120mm fan filters, 4x 120mm metal fan grilles. No fans or paper manual are included.

Slightly confusing... Will the M1 V3 also come with the dual 3.5" drive mount and the SFX PSU bracket as well?

You don't have to use Paypal's exchange, I've never done that. My credit card is billed in whatever currency the payee accepts, and the particular card (i.e. bank) I use doesn't charge anything extra (no fee, no percentage cut) for the exchange to my local currency. Always ends up cheaper.

Yes. Those are just the parts included in the accessory box. The SFX and 3.5" HDD brackets are installed in the case by default.

In other words, include all things that you need to start up. 3.5" cage, 2.5"+SFX PSU bracket, buttons and usb ports, right?
