GM200 vs Fiji XT Performance Prediction

I predict I'm going to jizz in my pants consecutively. That's all I know. :p

My predictions:

AMD will still be cheaper per performance.

AMD will still kick ass in 4K and AA.

AMD will have the fastest dual GPU card

Nvidia will still outsell AMD 3:1

AMD will post dismal quarterly sales, somehow survive.

Nvidia will need to build a larger pool to hold all of their swimming cash.

Likely true.

You left something out though. If AMD releases 6 months ahead of nVidia 50% of the market will wait to pay 50% more for 12% more performance.

didnt you mean pay 100% more for 12%?
:D

Jump by 2/3 in performance while still in the 28nm node would be excellent and help survive till 16nm and skipping the 20nm.

BUT, there is a missing comparison with the GTX 980 overclocked. While the 980 chip is smaller it has excellent overclocking giving boost of 20% which probably can even be increased when fully open cards come. On the other hand full Maxwell chip will have much less potential for overclocking due to the power consumption.

Rumors say its 20nm...

You can overclock all you like, but if all that clock clock speed nets marginal gains, its worthless.

Best post I've seen in months BRAVO :D

Rumor mills seem now more on the side of jumping directly to 16 nm. If there would be 20nm chip it would beg not for 60% perf gain but 100%.

When intel jumps nodes I don't remember massive increases. Do we really expect them to max the card right off the bat? From an engineering risk standpoint wouldn't it be more realistic to downsize what they have with as little tweaks as possible?

Thats what i heard

A Tonga shrink with more SUs on 20nm and HBM.

There is however a rumor floating around about a possible Hawaii XTX on 28nm before fiji.

nVidia releases a $1500 single gpu card.

AMD still survives making peasant $500 cards that deliver 91% of the performance.

What about Bermuda?

Nvidia will not get HBM for a whole year later as these are the props that AMD gets for helping in the design of the memory and limits placed on Nvidia .. so I really don't see a point in trying to compare the cards as we know very little about the impact that HBM brings to the table .
