Thoughts for those of you that saw the trailer/gameplay videos?

For myself, it looks amazing. I can't wait to play. It has a UT feel with blizzard's magical touch.

Also, that introduction video/movie, Blizzard full length movie pls.

Looks awful, sorry.
It will probably be free with a cosmetic shop, maybe buying heroes, etc.

Reminds me too much of Team Fortress 2 meets Monday Night Combat. Add in the cheap cartoony graphics so 12-year-old Timmy can play the game on his Dell from 2006 and spend money in their online cash shop.

No innovation. What happened to Blizzard?
The only game they were supposedly innovating on was Titan and they cancelled it. I guess they needed to make more room for microtransaction free-to-play casual copy-cat garbage they stole from Valve.

(Yes I know Valve "stole" Dota)

I won't be touching this one with a 10-foot pole. Same as all their other recent games. I guess D3's failure convinced them to stop making AAA titles unless they have an established niche (MMO and RTS).

I'd say the only game I feel that way about is Hearthstone.

Heroes of the Storm (I've been in Alpha for awhile now) plays and feels great compared to DOTA/LoL. When I first saw it introduced last year I thought it was going to be dumb but actually playing it's been a blast. I hope Overwatch feels the same way. Especially since the whole BF4/COD genre of games have burned me out. A good Quake/UT feel FPS could be what brings me back to playing FPSes more often.

I'll patiently await more info.

By the looks of the gameplay trailer, this game could have some really fun team mechanics, levels, objectives, and be a nice competitive shooter. On the other hand, it could be Brink.

Game has me somewhat interested. I mean, the first image on Kokatu looks like the dude is wearing a butt for a beard...

I'm interested.
D3 at launch wasn't top tier but they fixed it and it's not very enjoyable.

I only saw the trailer though, they really need to start making animated movies, they could compete with Pixar.

Very disappointing, after 17 years of no new IP, they release this... I guess its just me getting older and not being the target audience, but I don't see what they have to gain by releasing another F2P arena shooter style game. They already have Heroes of the Storm, and the arena shooter genre is already pretty saturated, and there are more games coming (Unreal Tournament, Nosgoth, Battlecry) I can't help but feel this is the wrong direction.

Not to mention the lack of any interesting story in the Blizzard universe. They absolutely raped the story to death in Diablo, WoW story is also a joke at this point. Starcraft is ded gaem, and the story is so neckbeard, cliche, and kerrigan focused that I have lost all interest.

...what? Are you posting from 2003? Arena shooters are completely dead, there's a few coming in the future but who knows if they'll take off again.

Also this game isn't an arena shooter or anything like UT. It's basically TF2 on steroids.

Personally, I think it looks great. One of the better things about Blizzard developing this is it will have a very healthy player population.

Oh, I thought I was watching a preview for Pixars new movie.

If it's f2p, I'll give it a go.after Diablo 3, I decided that I want going to give blizzard any more of my money.

I was hoping for a new MMO, not team fortress meets dota style heroes (each character having very unique abilities).

I'm glad they are trying something new. I was not digging the kiddie Pixar theme.

My response to this? "Meh."

Honestly, I think Blizzard is losing it, and by the looks of this, they've almost completely lost it. Where's the innovation? This is TF2 meets Warcraft.

My time for gaming is already limited so much, a game like this just doesn't catch my eye. If i'm going to spend my limited time gaming, I want to make sure that time is filled with as many new, fun, unique experiences possible. This just doesn't appear to offer that. AT all.

I wouldn't touch this with a 10 foot pole.

Same feeling here. This is the first Blizzard game that I feel absolutely nothing positive about. A TF2 clone that looks like a Pixar movie... really? This is the big reveal? I won't even bother opting in to the beta.

This is what happens when you drive off all the talent that got you to where you are.

wow man, I wish I could gain that from a 4 minute video.

I do not play shooters.
I really really enjoyed Overwatch. The team dynamics and the combinations for classes was a lot of fun.
I think the trailer was actually pretty bad, but the gameplay is awesome.

To those that harken to TF2: Warcraft was a replay of Dune 2, Diablo wasn't an original genre, nor was WoW. You can make a fun game without inventing a genre.

I do not believe this will be a "buy heroes" type of game, since the dynamic of team play relies upon all options being available. I'd guess a retail game with vanity items.

... and to those suggesting it's "Pixar" or cartooney.... the exact same thing was said about Warcraft 3 and now we all wax poetic about it.

I'd suggest it's not Pixar, more Anime. I think it's TF2 meets Final Fantasy.

The purpose of any "trailer" is to provide a snapshot or brief glimpse into the game, isn't it? My initial impression based on the 4 minutes is just that, TF2 Meets Warcraft. Based on that, I'm not interested. Maybe that will change when more info/gameplay/whatever is released, but this game just doesn't catch my interest right now.

Exactly, exactly thats what its for. So many bitter Diablo 3 early adopters in this thread it makes me sick.

It's a 4 minute video, I've seen lots of 4 minute videos but most of the time a game is good or bad based on how it plays and how much fun I have actually playing it. Too many people passing judgement because their 980 will run this too easily and its made by blizzard/activision

Haters gonna hate.
Every problem I had with D3 at launch was corrected by Reaper, plus the game dramatically improved above my expectations.

But, really, Overwatch is like TF2 in that it's a team arena shooter, and people have roles... but that's really where the similarities end.

Nah, I'm not bitter about D3, I never even bought D3. I played the beta and it just didn't catch my attention either. I've heard that it's been improved a lot, but I just haven't even bothered to touch it.

I don't know how to articulate it. Each game sort of has it's own "feel", it's own "personality" I guess you could say. Usually that's what catches my eye more than anything else, and this just didn't have that sort of unique "personality" that I look for.

Oh I'm not hating on the game. I just don't care about it. Not everything appeals to everyone and that's a good thing. I never liked TF2 and I bought the Orange Box at launch. I don't like Loadout. I'm sure that PLENTY of people will enjoy playing it though. And yes, I uninstalled D3 from sheer boredom, although I did put in lots of hours into the base game and expansion. I love ARPGs still though. I just lost my desire to play D3 completely.

Maybe I'll give SC2 a chance one day as I did buy it on sale at some point.

:)

This is what happens when you drive off all the talent that got you to where you are.

You're talking out of your ass.

The primary designers from plenty of Warcraft content were on this.
Blizzard also brought on Mike Booth.
Who, exactly, are you talking about as being "driven off?"

Reaper, Hearthstone, Heroes... they're all breaking sales records and winning awards left and right. Game of the Year, Most Anticipated Game.

And you don't see a problem with that? You had to pay 40$ more for a broken game to be fixed..

Luckily D3 vanilla had a real life AH so it was mega easy to make all your money back.. But if it didn't id be pissed.

the game was fixed before Reapers. Reapers just helped.

also blizzard offered refunds when D3 launched and those that waited got both d3 and reapers for 60$. Those who wanted to keep the game played it and im sure they felt it was time well spent.

Even with D3's shortcomings I wouldn't call it a bad game, it was better than all other competitors in the genre IMHO. I think the "problem" was the confluence of the loot table with the RMAH.

They made it a little pay-to-win (which is fine in a primarily PvE game) but doing that decreased the fun of the item grind (which is Diablo's core competency).

best selling game of the year, high critic score... Most fans were bitching about connection-required and RMAH... both of which are invalid complaints AFAIC. I'd even call the online-only-play a major benefit of the game.

Holy f, am I the only one that thinks this looks bad ass? It looks like everything I'd want in a fast pace arena shooter...

To everyone wondering where this is coming from, I have one word for you, esports. If you notice this year at Blizzcon they have the WoW PVP tournament, the Starcraft 2 tournament, the the Hearthstone tournament, and an exhibition for HoTS. So they have an arena non-shooter, an RTS, a card game, and MOBA, the only esport they are missing is a shooter.

Very simply, this is showing Blizzard is full in on esports

Yeap, Blizzard has given up on being innovative and decided to go full micro-transaction and esports on us. Hmm I wonder who's responsible for this. *cough* Activi$ion*

and to be fair that is a smart economic move. Just look at LoL, DOTA and CSGO. They are the premier games on PC -- and they also are built solely around competition. The competitve scene is strictly on PC right now, and Blizzard wants to get their hands on some of the 'hardcore gamer' dollars while it's still popular. It makes perfect sense.

Shit just look at how many people watch LoL/CSGO on Twitch daily. It is insane.

sc1 team + Bliz north (d1, d2).

Yeah they are breaking records alright. D3 was breaking them as well, and were getting 9.5s on review sites Great job!. 90% of the players didn't go past normal according to Bliz, but who cares about the quality when ppl will buy them anyways.
