Destiny - Discussion Thread

They definitely made the "safe" spot for the nexus a lot harder. I just did it with my brother and friend and stayed at the top where one would look out for the praetorian and we sniped him down. I still need an Atheon's Epilogue, my brother and friend were burning through the nightfall! I had to settle with my Praedyth's Revenge.

I still need to do the weekly on two of my characters, otherwise nightfall is already done.

I did it solo by staying at the top. My legendary void MG made short work of the minotaur - only took like 10-12 bullets per minotaur and my MG holds 100/200 (300 total).

Additionally, the minotaur gave me special ammo for my void sniper so it worked out well.

I duo'd with my brother on our alts, and it was actually harder. The yellow mobs seem to get noticeably stronger with more people.

Nobody is going to care about the next DLC.... since the core game is gear grind.

It's actually more or less material grind. The vast majority of my time is spent leveling up weapons and upgrading weapons/armor. Getting legendaries is pretty trivial.

I started adding random people oon the PS4 who needed help at the same levelI got hooked up with a real pro I'm seriously he used some glitch to Rez =) Did a level 28 strike got 9 coins =)

There is some wall you can hide behind for this weekly and shoot the boss and take out the stuff from the top by jumping. Not sure if Bungie designed the game that way. Our group level 26 27 and 28 got wiped about 3 times the rez with the warlock comes in helpful.

The rez basically is a play with sunsinger and you switch to a different passive that isnt the res passive. You then enable it and you stil have full super charge left. Just switch back to the res perk and rinse and repeat.

Btw. Destinylfg.net is probably the largest community.

Ok was wondering what he was doing he said pause the game and do something but couldn't catch on.

As mentioned, the res is a super.

The weekly strike gives you 9 coins the first time always (the level 28 one). Do it on 3 chars and you'll be swimming in coins. Xur will never be an issue.

You have to actually get three characters to level 28 first (unless you have friends who will carry you through the strike). I've been playing solid since launch and have only just reached lvl 27 for one character.

Your play hours might be on the low side then. Granted, there has been some nights where the wife didn't care if I played and I don't have kids so I guess my play time is more than some family play times. I have three level 29 characters. Two Warlocks and got my Titan to 29 last night. Those two Warlocks are always 29, I do not have to transfer any armor in the Vault to do that. I only transfer weapons between characters along with materials and my Legendary Sparrow.

I have been using that site for about a month now. Very nice utility to have open while you are out and about. They have just recently updated the site with the Tower setting which is cool.
I have noticed the times are off on my clocks for -4 to -5 mins.

Is it just potential not actual? I'm in the area but nothing is going on.
Never mind just says when the event could happen..

Green icons will happen almost 100%. Yellow will most likely happen if you are in the zone a couple minutes before they start. Red is iffy.
They are set to specific times within kind of like a 5 minute variance.

Keep in mind too that if you are the only one in the area at the time, it likely won't show. In my experience it will sometimes show when there are two, much more common when 3.

Is there somewhere where I can see how many hours I've put in?

Yes, on the destiny.net website or I am assuming the companion app will show you as soon as you log into your game account through their web page. Each character will show the play time along with many other stats. The "Adviser" section will show how many missions you have played, how many times you have gone into Patrols and even how many Public Events you did while on Patrols.
Bungie is really big on giving the stats to players. Even how many kills of each kind of enemy you have killed along with how many kills with each weapon type.

Does the PVP matchmaking in this fucking game have any kind of region or ping filter? The amount of times I get killed by action that comes up on my screen a whole second after I'm dead...

^ I know that feel. Teleporting guys that never die after you unload two clips on them. Then they shotgun you in the face......... how does that even happen when they are across the map?

The way I use my Warlock in PVP I jetpack with the Sunsinger class and throw a grenade nearby in the air then I pounce on top of them with a melee =) Sometimes I sniper sees me is in the distance in the air then that just means I'm dead. The shotguns royally piss me off to no end so I piss off everyone using melee with my warlock =)

I tired a shotgun I don't have one strong enough for one hits unless it's just my class. I suck at aiming gun in this game can't wait to get a Grim Citizen III automatic off the vendor next week.

Gave Crucible a go for the first time in about a month. It doesn't seem like the netcode has been improved at all, and the matchmaking is still "find 12 random players who want to play and throw them in together"... region, player-level and skill-level be damned.

I can't use Fusion rifles in PVP anymore thanks to the netcode taking an absolute dump in recent weeks. I can only use a shotgun due to its instant damage nature.

Since me and my friends completed VoG on hard we haven't really felt any compelling reasons to go back. Its so utterly bland now without anything to do. Even with the mangled DLC coming (and giving a big fuck you to Xbox One owners by having even less content) One strike , One Raid and 3 (oh boy..) story missions is pathetic.

Once Halo comes out I'm done. Halo MP destroys Destiny in every way possible. Just can't bring myself to grind out stuff I'm bored with. I did that in WoW for almost 7-8 years.

I'm glad you at least moved on once you found that Destiny has nothing for you. Some people just want to hang out and rag on it for more than they need to.

If you want to mine public events then best routine that I have found is the following for Cosmodrome. By far the best way to mine public events.

GMT+4 times.

Any 15 or 45 minutes on the hour, go to the Divide and defeat the fallen walker
Any 30 or 00 minutes on the hour, go to the Mothyards and get Warsat, Target or Extraction crews
Any 38 or 08 minutes on the hour, go to Forgotten Shore for a public event

This gives sufficient time to get through to the 3 places and if you are lucky, you may end up with 4 public events within 30 minutes :D.

unless its warsat or target, you better be in the right place at the right time or it'll be over by the time you find it in the zone. I saw walker last less than 30 seconds last time I caught it.

I think Destiny is the most polarizing video game out there at the moment. It had such a huge amount of hype surrounding it and just all the hallmarks of possible success (in the right manner of speaking) that it brings out the worst in people.

Destiny forums are a cesspool of humanity. I can't stand to read them for more than a few minutes frankly. I think FPS gamers seriously have the worst rep in gaming. They just live to hate.

Yep Bungie got me for almost $70 and yes I am now done with the game. But does that really deserve continual badgering on my part? Nope. Loss is a part of life. The lesson to learn here is to wait and see. Preordering is for suckers these days. Nothing is a safe bet in this industry.

There are far to many great alternatives to really waste time whining. Too bad some others in this thread don't see things as clearly as you and I seem to. Anyway I hope it gets better for those willing to stick it out.

I had the absolute worst round of Crucible earlier. Was on a team in Control that had no fucking idea what it was doing. We were triple-capped almost the entire time, and I finished on top of the scoreboard for my team by a good 1000 points or so. The bottom three had horrible scores and did nothing. Guess which three team members got the end-game rewards?

I have never seen a game reward player mediocrity like Destiny does.

I had a problem with Crucible early on I couldn't figure out who the enemy was so I was attacking my team and I was distracting them and they were getting killed so they left.
Later about 10 games later I figured the enemy had red life bars under them along with their name not showing up on screen unless you are in the same area.

Had that same problem with Battlefield 3 when I played my first game.

Nope, not really. Level 3 of the same class to 20 and swap gear. It's what I did to finally get my mythocast and raid helm. I wouldn't recommend it, game got really boring after that, definitely over played it..

.....:(

I've actually had it happen to me. So yes, it has been that bad. Lol

Oh, I thought you might have been taking the piss out of me a bit. :) :)

I'm having more fun with Crucible since switching to Clash. I swear most of the Destiny PVP playerbase is too retarded to make Control worth playing, at least in the 360 version.

I have had the worst luck with not being able to communicate with a fireteam. I have my mic plugged in, but no one can hear me, nor can I hear anyone else. I get some error saying because of network conditions, I am unable to join party chat. Anyone have any resolution for this? I got booted from a VOG run last night because we couldn't communicate. It is very frustrating, as this was my first VOG run, so I was just running and following and trying to execute what I thought needed to happen.

Is there a message saying that your NAT is restricted? I had that message and similar errors you're describing, and after forwarding a variety of ports and whatnot, a router reset is what finally corrected it.

No, doesn't say anything about restricted NAT, just due to network conditions, I can't connect to chat at this time.

As of now, at level 24, I have not received any type of legendary or exotics yet.
Lol
Do blue items go all the way to 30 or what?

They started dropping for me around 24-25. 20-14 was a bear getting the same blue crap over and over.
Axiom Coven and Gilgamesh-E machine guns (or something like that) OVER AND OVER.

I get that from time to time as well. mine is hardwired even. rebooting the damn router normally corrects it. worst part is that the damn router is maybe two years old now... maybe.

I am 1 light point away from 25... never gotten a legendary drop either. all been blues and greens and even those are rarely above lvl 18. I want to be able to start playing the Wolf strike list, but I just don't have the fire power for it. I have a fully upgraded blue lvl 20 scout rifle, and the strangers rifle is also fully upgraded. i feel weak as hell in the lvl 20 let alone lvl 22 lists. i can take the hits, just feel so underpowered when it comes time to shoot back.

i found a nice spot in Old Russia that's near a mission marker and allows me to farm two mob spawn points as well as spin-metal. seems to drop about a dozen engrams in 30-45minutes as well as earning vanguard rep from the mission marker for enemy kills. just gonna run that until i can buy a legendary gun from the outfitter. then to get leveled. then maybe i will feel like i can contribute on the strike lists.

I do the strike playlists all the time at 25 (only one legendary) and have no problem contributing, and we always complete them with relative ease (maybe one or two wipes, max) with similarly-leveled and equipped PUGs.
My go to rotation for when I sit down with Destiny:
1- Buy the Vanguard bounties for X number of missions on Y planet (particularly mars) and "kill X baddies on Y planet" for the planet that has the daily strike.
2- Do those missions while hitting 2-3 public events, then do the daily strike.
3- Collect those bounties.
4- Buy bounties for "Do X number of Y rounds" on the crucible. Usually only 5 of a particular match type.
5- Do those
6- Collect those bounties
7- Do a few strike missions in the playlists.

Seems like this is getting me the most rep over time, though not enough crucible marks. Once I get lvl 3 FWC (the faction I'm grinding), I'll probably do more crucible to earn the marks.

It is simple guys.

If you have the worst luck and can't get a legendary armor drop then.

Get highest level blue armor ( starts with 13 light) and max them out, also grab strange coins from missions and weeklies.

Wait for Xur to show up, buy one piece of exotic armor for your class. Once you get a bit experience, you should be level 25 now.

From then on do strike playlists, crucible, bounties and Raid. First legendary will bump you to 26, second will bump you to 27, third will bump you to 28 and leveling them up will get you to 29.

After 29, you have to play the raid and get raid armor to get to 30.

Also don't forget, sometimes you'll get 2 legendary armor drops in the same mission and your one legendary one exotic hunter will become fully equipped within minutes.

Never had a problem. I have been doing this for the past month. Sometimes the Forgotten Shore event doesn't happen, only means that by the 10th or 40th minute on the hour, you have to break for the Divide.
